January 8, 2007 - The C.C.C. "Clutter FREE for Thirty" CHALLENGE!

In effort to really get those hearts cleaned out, I'm introducing a little challenge to The Colossal Clutter Clean-Up.  Because clutter is what we're dealing with... let's nip it in the bud.  Go one step further and be:

Let me explain... even though you may have clutter that's piled up as a result of Christmases, birthdays, or generous friends, clutter in your home is also the result of buying unneccesary things.  So......  my challenge for you is to go the next 30 days WITHOUT buying ANYTHING that is UNNECCESSARY!  In cleaning out your heart, examine not only what you buy, but what you want.  This could be a very revealing experience for you.

You will have to decide for yourself what is "neccessary", but I believe that if you pray about this and throughout the thirty days, that you will clean up even more areas in your heart that you may not have known needed de-cluttering.

For those of you who have blogs, please feel free to pass this challenge along and link the "button" to this post.  Those who are not doing The Colossal Clutter Clean-Up can still be a part of this challenge!  May God bless you as you continue to de-clutter your heart!

Bless your heart and home,
Amy

Hi Amy, thanks so much for this wonderful challenge. My question is, yesterday you had us read to pg 17 and stop. Do we keep going today? Thanks again for all of this. May the Lord return the blessing 100 fold!

Amy, just wanted to let you know how great I think your blog and the CCC is! I have started and am doing very well. Thanks for all the time you put into this! Just wondering if Vanilla Latte Breve's are considered essential or not? ;-) LOL Have a great de-cluttered day?

cos I let Duke lose with the credit card last month without clearly stating his budget (and bless him but he has no concept of money...) so this money we are on "austerity measures"!

Am trying hard to not go "boom and bust" with this challenge but also hoping our local Freecycle group is going to feel very blessed whilst I re-discover my floors!

This is great! I have a question, or a problem at least. I have lots of things I don't use in this rental home from our "old life". I'm trying to sell them and give away to those who need them but it takes too long! The extra money would be nice, but should I store items and sell them over a long period of time, or just take it ALL to the donation store? It's been almost 2 years of "slow selling" and I am still swamped.

I like the idea of no buying extras for 30 days. My credit card balance is going down! :)

Oh, can I put the graphic on my blog to link?

Denise - yes, please feel free to put the blinkie on your blog!

As for your question, you really need to answer that for yourself. (Oh, that was a lot of help, huh?) What I mean is, I got to the point MANY times where it just wasn't worth keeping stuff for a garage sale. My garage and home kept falling apart in the process. I tried to sell things on ebay, and it worked for awhile, but it was a long and drawn out process, taking so much time away from my family.

See, our time is precious. We really need to guard it and use it wisely. The question you need to ask yourself is how important is your time and what is it worth? You may be making money on the things that you're selling, but what is your home like now, and until everything is at last gone? Are things okay, or will you feel a sense of relief when it's all gone? When you can answer these questions, you will know what to do.

Bless your heart and home,
Amy Verlennich
