The day after...
Disappointed? Yes. Devastated? No. But as a Californian, I'm pretty calloused - every 'day after' is a huge disappointment here.
Yesterday was a minimum day at ABC Academy. Mom couldn't stay focused past 3 of our 6 subject areas. It is silly to fret over things you can't control but fret I did. At least now the fretting is over.
Californians rejected parental notification for a minor seeking an abortion. Also rejected was a proposition that sought to end eminent domain abuse. Only in California...
On the national scene, my friend Ben got it right for the second time in as many weeks. I'm going to let him save me some time again this morning. Here is what he had to say:
As I write this, It's still too close to call the Senate, but the American people, in their wisdom, have chosen to place the U.S. House of Representatives under the control of the Democrats. There are a few valuable men who require our prayer today, for any work real Americans can do will only have an effect two years from now. Those guys are the members of our military who depend on the support of the American people and funding from the U.S. Congress to maintain the training and gear that keep them alive as they battle the forces of radical Islam. If you need reminding, all funding bills originate in the U.S. House of Representatives. Nancy Pelosi will, in all probability, soon rule that body - and, unfortunately for our troops, she's an anti-war, San Francisco, bull dyke.
Anybody remember the Clinton Administration? Servicemen do. I remember being part of a U.S. Marine Corps Recon unit and filling out an anonymous questionnaire which was passed around about two months after Clinton took office. It was generated from somewhere above us and consisted of one question: "If so ordered, would you disarm American citizens?" With about a quarter of my fellow Marines, I answered "no" and wrote at the bottom of the sheet that I had taken an oath to uphold the Constitution, not violate it. I processed out of the Marines one year later, at the front of a river of good men who left the service after Clinton took office.
A memorable example of how Democrats run the military is an incident burned into the memory of any infantry or special operations personnel who served in the early '90's. Clinton ordered troops into Somalia for a ridiculous humanitarian mission. When those troops were ultimately attacked by hostile Somalis, U.S. Secretary of Defense Les Aspin refused to authorize air cover to ensure the safe withdrawal and rescue of injured American troops. In a selfless act of sacrifice that will live forever in the hearts of Green Berets, two members of Delta Force volunteered to rescue a downed chopper pilot. The two knew that an actual rescue was impossible. They had volunteered to die rather than leave a fellow American to suffer that fate alone. They rappelled into the kill zone and began engaging enemy combatants in great numbers. No one knows the body count but many enemy died before the soldiers ran out of ammunition, and a few were bludgeoned with the butt end of rifles before the two special operators were finally overcome.
America lost 18 of her finest men at the hands of Democrat Les Aspin that day. Less than six months later, Mr. Aspin died and went directly to hell where he remains today, unable to kill any more Americans.
We just put those guys back in charge and left our military men out on a ledge for two years. True, many of the new Dems are moderate - at least when compared to Pelosi - but none will buck her or Rangel or Waxman. They will do as they are told, and they'll be given their marching orders from the left wing of an increasingly leftist party.
As after both Clinton elections, I'm left wondering about the people I see walking around everyday. What are they thinking? What do they care about? What are they willing, or unwilling, to sacrifice? I just don't know.

My Blog

A few years ago, when our oldest was 4 and her two brothers were both in diapers, my in-laws were a few days into a visit from their home 3000 miles away when my father-in-law noticed that the rug under the dining room table was in serious need of vacuuming. He is not prone to domestic duties (his wife is a great housekeeper) but seeing the need, he decided to try his hand with the Hoover. As soon as 'Grandpa' declared his intention to get out the vacuum, four little feet ran for the toy box to get vacuums of their own. We had one toy vacuum and we improvised a second from a 'popper' push toy. The baby, who was not yet walking, was right in the thick of things on all fours, never one to be left out. Grandpa, trying to maneuver the self-propelled 'Wind-tunnel' around the 10 foot rug while avoiding the table legs and dodging his three little helpers, remarked in exasperation, "I just wanted to clean the rug, I wasn't looking to start a three ring circus." Welcome to my life!
About Me
My name is Tiffany. I am a 40 year old mother of 4. My husband, John, and I planned to homeschool even before we married 18 years ago but it would be several years before our oldest would be ready to start on this journey. We had our children in alphabetical order, quite by accident at first, but once we got started, we figured we had to keep it going. They are Alyssa 10, Brendan 9, Chase 6, and Emily 4. Our 4th baby, D, miscarried at 13 weeks. We have no intention of making it to Z.

Nov. 8, 2006 - I agree!
As your friend says you wonder about the people around you day by day. What are they thinking? How can they choose Democrats?!
