May. 7, 2008 - Works for me Wednesday...with a twist!
I am going to start a new thing, go check out http://rocksinmydryer.typepad.com/shannon/ for all the goodies that other people write in!
This week its what DOESNT work for you, and for us thats buying produce at Wal-Mart. We dont do it. Tired to a couple time and will never do it agan. Maybe it just the Wal-Marts we have here, but for some reason it seems that when even we get the food home, it goes bad. Yuck, and a total waste of money.
Thats what........

May. 4, 2008 - Nesting and a long over due update
Well, we are 26 week into this pregnancy...thats only 14 weeks until our due date, 8/8/08. Andrew is a active little man who wiggles a lot. Its getting to the point were others (besides Mama) can feel him move. There has been a few times that Da has been able to feel little flutterings.
I am feeling "nesty" and sometimes it drives Aaron nuts. I get the strongest urg to nest a night. So that means right before bed time and I even wake up in the middle of the night with something I HAVE to get done. I am a thoughtful wife and dont wake Aaron up these times. :D Here's an example, 3 nights ago right before bed we went through all the bos clothing and got all the 0-3 months put in his dresser! I am hoping to get is bed out of storage here soon. We have a co-sleeper we just love. Its a small bed that sttaches to the parents bed for co-sleeping. We have an antique full bed so there isnt much room for a baby with us. This works perfectly! I also have a moses basket that we are going to use. We didnt with Flora, but when Andrew is about 9 weeks we will be gone for 10 days. I want him used to sleeping in his bed so its not a huge change.
We have been so blessed, we dont have ot buy anything for this baby except a few "wants". Two families who had boys in the past year are giving us all the clothes that are to small! Its a huge blessing!
The girls are doing so good! They are loving being able to play out side in the sunshine! We have been spending a lot of the day out of doors. Mandi gave us 6 chickens and they have made the move into there new home. Aaron turned part of the little shed into a chicken coop with a yard off of it. They are still to small to use the yard, we just have to many stry dogs in our area, and we need to make a top to it.
Aaron has been busy with the ambulance and yard work. He is riding his bike to the station (4 blocks) for a bit of excersize and to save a bit on gas (not much) and manily wear on our poor old 'burban. Its just as quick for him to grab his bike and go then it is for him to get in, start and drive the truck up. The weathers ben so nice.
I am doing good. Feeling well and not uncomfortable yet! I am getting so ecxited to see and hold this little man....God hs been so good to us!
We hope all of you dear family and friends are doing well...dont forget! We LOVE comments! :D

Apr. 12, 2008 - Sick Babies
What a week! Mom and Mandi were here visiting and that was wonderful! We had fun getting seeds for gardens, and playing with babies, and just having a wonderful visit. Wednesday was a busy day. Before our appt to see Andrew we had to take Flora to the doctors, she had a cold bug earler the week before, it wasnt a fun one. She got some nasty sores in her mouth. Flora doesnt do pain. It was a long week. :D Although I loved all the cuddling. Well, Flora sucks on the firts 2 finger on her left hand and while sick, sucked a blister on the joint of her pointer finger. It just kept getting worse and worse. We got Aaron's bosses advice, they have seen a lot, and they confurmed what we were thinking. So in we went. They took labs for staf and put her on antibotics just incase. MRSA has been a huge problem in ths area!
Clara is also sick, last night she started throwing up, and was up all night. We are thinking its just a 24 hour bug. Please pray they she gets better soon beacuse its scarry for her. Also pray that all the rest of us can ward it off.....
Thanks!
Aaron, Amber, Clara, Flora, and Andrew (due 8/8/08)

Mar. 11, 2008 - Another Wonderful Year!
Tomorrow is our 3rd anniversery! God has been so good to us this past year. To mark the day, Aaron and I are going on a date....with no children! YAHOO! We love our babies, but are really looking forward to having an evening all to our selves. We are going to dinner and a movie Saturday night. The girls are going to hang out and Grandma and Papa's. I am sure they will also have an enjoyable time! :)
Here is a little recap of the last year!
Last year we went to brunch (for our 2nd anniversery) at the Davenport Hotel and then went to a cool old house that they give tours of. It was a wonderful time, although we did feel a tad rushed because Flora was just a wee thing (still is just a tad bigger wee thing :D) and didnt like the bottle.
On April 2 we had one of the biggest blessings of all. Aaron was in an accident, that wasnt the blessing, but the fact that he came out of it just fine (except that he snores now...:P) is the blessing. We are so thankful for all the prayers and family and friends who were there as support! Thanks everyone. You all mean so much to us. You all are blessings in our life.
Aaron started his EMT training and finished first in his class, and tested high on his National test! Aaron loves what he does and doenst at all mind working so much. He is working from 6pm on Saturday night until 6pm on Friday night. He only has 24 hours off, but loves it. We all have adjusted to having an unsual schedule. we never know when Dada will have to leave. :D
Clara started talking more and more, and became our bug police. If there is a bug in the house, she will find it. She is so silly about it. She gets very excited, but her whole body shakes. She has such a sweet personality. She loves helping with house chores, but would rather be out side. This year we had a wonderful winter with lots of snow. Clara LOVES to sled.
Flora did a lot, to much to list really. She also is sucha sweety, although a might stubborn. :D
Amber has been busy being a helpmeet to Aaron, Mama to their babies and trying to sew as much as possable! :D She sold her first quilt this last year, and hopes to do more this year. It will me easer with the new sewng machine that Aaron is getting her for her anniversery gift! :D (just a tab excited)
We found out that God is blessing our family yet again. Baby #3 will arrive around Aug 8th!
Please join us in thanking God for another wonderful year, we are so blessing and He is really providing for us in so many ways, there are way to many to list!
We hope you have a wonderful day!
Aaron, Amber, Clara, Flora and ?
PS. We will post some pictures soon!

Feb. 8, 2008 - Record Snow Fall and Teeth
As I was reading the news (no tv) I found some very inresting information. As of Tuesday morning we have had over 127 inches of snow this winter. That is more snow this this area has had since 1915-1916! Tuesday night we got about 5 more inches. All 3 of the major passes in Washington are closed due to bad weather conditions. And this was going to be a warm, lower then normal snowfall year, according to the Old Farmers Almanic.....must be global warming! He He!
Ok, now for the teeth part of the post. Poor Flora is in the middle of teething. At the moment she is cutting 6(!) teeth. Poor little girl is miserable. VERY! We descovered that we had it easy with Clara when she was teething. We would give her teething tabs and she would be her happy self most of the time. Well, not so with Flora. This little girl DOESNT like pain...at all! That means she is crying and demanding to be held ALL the time. She also hasnt been sleeping well because of the little bugers. Today 2 of them came though, so I hope the end is in sight! Please pray for quick cutting of the other 4~
On a happer note, tomorrow we get to go to church! We havnt been able to go in a couple of weeks. First we were very sick, and then snowed in last week. After services. Aaron's parents are coming down for his much delayed birthday dinner. I made this.....its so good!
Beef Irish Stew
- 2 pounds lean beef stew meat
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 1 pinch cayenne pepper
- 2 large onions, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 1/2 cups Irish stout beer (e.g., Guinness)
- 2 cups chopped carrot
- 1 sprig fresh thyme
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley for garnish
- Heat the remaining oil in a deep skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the beef, and brown on all sides. Add the onions, and garlic. Stir the tomato paste into a small amount of water to dilute; pour into the pan and stir to blend. Reduce the heat to medium, cover, and cook for 5 minutes.
- Pour 1/2 cup of the beer into the pan, and as it begins to boil, scrape any bits of food from the bottom of the pan with a wooden spoon. This adds a lot of flavor to the broth. Pour in the rest of the beer, and add the carrots and thyme. Cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 2 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally. Taste and adjust seasoning before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley.
I used elk in place of the beef. I also added a little (about 1/4 cup) beef soup base, and potatoes instead of serving it over mashed potatoes. It is very good. We are going to have it with bread. I think it will work well in the slowcooker.
Ok, off I go to finish the dishes!

Feb. 4, 2008 - Our Day
Today was pretty borning, yet very cute! We went to Plummer to pay the internet bill and wash the ambulance there. And then we just hung out. Flora is really taking off walking and is a little flirt. She can get her da to do anything! The girls were in their moment! All day it seems. :D We just had to share some of the cuteness with all of you! OH! Clara is very into doing hair. She was very firm in the fact that Da needed a band (hair rubber band) in his hair. HA! Well, she came to Mama for help, so I had to! :D
Aaron and his "hair do" :P

Aaron and his addiction...you can kind of see how much snow we have had. We have another storm watch for tonight and tomorrow, maybe 5 or so more inches!

Here is Flora. We have an old steamer trunk in the living room that I use to store extra blankets in, the girls love hiding behind the quilts!

Bath Girl!

Walking AND talking on the phone...must be a girl!

And Clara, she loves getting rides from Da, you think Aaron would be the one who is tired out! Doesnt she look comfy!?!?!?

Thats all for now! Have a wonderful day!
Love,
Aaron, Amber, Clara, Flora and ? (due Aug 8th)

Feb. 2, 2008 - Sledding
Today we are pretty much snowed in. A lot of the older locals have said that we havnt had this much snow in over 40 years! It looks to have slowed down a tad. Its still snowing, but only little bits here and there, not feet at a time! Aaron is loving the snow. Although it does feed his plowing additcion
.
Clara went sledding today for the first time! When Aaron plowed our parking area, he piled up all the snow is a nice big pile. Then, he made a small sledding ramp, perfect for a 2 year old! She loved it, these pictures say it all...enjoy!

Jan. 17, 2008 - Birthdays....moving.....announcement...would have been eaiser to say update :D
Hello Family and Friends!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry for the long wait inbetween updates and news :D We started moving into our new place the middle of Dec. We are done! YAHOO!!!!!!!!!! I am go glad to be done. We only have a load of stuff to bring to storage.
We had a couple birthdays here. Flora Ruth turned one on Dec. 18th. She is a busy little girl who is working on some more teeth, so is a little on the crabby side. :D CUte buy crabby! She is standing on her own more and more, and today when she really wanted me to pick her up and I wouldnt, she took a couple steps! She is going to be walking before we know it! Look out world! :D Flora is all girl. She isnt into rough housing a lot and would rather cuddle. She started eating solid foods at 11 months and is a little piggy. She will eat anything, so different then Clara who didnt like to eat :D
Clara Ann turned 2 this last Monday, Jan. 14th. She is also a busy girl. She LOVES her sister and is always in her face. Flora gets a little annoyed at this. :D She is talking more and more and learning sign language. She is picking up on it so fast. She is also learning the importance of having a generous heart and sharing with her sister and play mates :D Its a tough one to learn when you are 2 and your new favorite word is mine. :D She usually doesnt walk to where she wants to go, she runs. Clara is addicted to brushing her teeth and her bath. She would be in there all night if we let her! :D Rigth now she is rough housing with Da! She is a rough and tumble little girl.
Aaron is doing very well and is loving being an EMT! He works 6 days a week 24 hours a day. He is on call so gets to stay home. Its nice to be so close to the station.
Amber is loving having a new place with a lot of light and more room! She is busy making her sewing room useful! Thanks to Kathleen's help they got the kitchen and entry way all the way painted and the sewing room is almost done. It needed it. It was blue and yellow, and very ugly blue and yellow :D The sewing room was a bad barn room. :D
We are very happy to say that around Aug 8th a new blessing will be joining our family! Amber is feeling good and has energy. Evening sometime can be tough, as she as a little evening sickness. Nothing to bad, just yucky feeling. We will keep you all updates as to the progress. We had our first midwifes appt this week and everything looks good. We were hoping to hear babies heart beat, but it is still to soon. Next month for sure!
Well, thats all for now. We will get some pictures of our new house and the girls soon!
Hugs to all,
Aaron, Amber, Clara, Flora and Baby
