![]() A True friend... * will drive 17 hours, with her kids in tow, to your house, braving such perils as an over heating van, flirting truckers, and fast food. Uphill. In the snow. We Welcomed Baby Joel into our family on Saturday afternoon. Here's his story: Well, Friday night I felt Joel finally move into the right position, and I thought ‘good! That ought to help labor get along quickly!” Saturday morning I got out of bed at 8:30 and started feeling contractions around 9:00. Right away, they felt hard and serious, and were coming pretty frequently, so I knew it was the real deal. We had planned to go garage sale-ing that morning, there were a few in our neighborhood and I thought of walking around to them might help, but I was already progressing too far to be able to get ready in a timely fashion, or care too much once it was getting too late. We left the house at 11 am, dropped a book off at the library, and picked up our friend who agreed to come with us and watch the kids at the birthing center. By then, it was pretty obvious that we needed to get there FAST, so Adam had a fun (harrowing?) time speeding along the freeway to get there. A few minutes before we arrived, I felt some fluids leaking out, and was really worried then, because for me that usually means baby is imminent. But he held out, and Adam helped me out of the car and into the center. When the midwife checked me she said my water hadn’t completely broken and that I was dilated 9 cm. I wanted to get in the tub, but the next contraction came and my water broke in one big gush. I tried to get up again, but the next contraction let me know that it was time to push! After two back to back pushes his head was free; I paused, pushed his shoulders through, and felt instantly relieved when the rest of him slid out too (isn’t that the best feeling in the world?) We had gotten to the birthing center at 12:30 and he was born at 12:37! He weighed 8 lbs and 1 oz and was 21 inches long, and we named him Joel Titus. He has lots of dark hair, just like all the rest of my kids (yes, even the ones that are now blond!) and is just perfect. Thanks for all your prayers! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Tuesday was our anniversary, and it was a lovely day. Adam stayed home from work, and baked me a German Chocolate cake. Now, some women might think the occasion called for something like flowers or jewelry, but my husband knows what I like We put eight candles on the cake, and the kids sang "Happy Anniversary to you!" Later, we all went out to dinner, where everyone (mostly) behaved. I had told DH that since he made the cake, I would make a special dinner of his choice, but he said "It seems mean to make you cook for OUR anniversary." Yup - I think I'll keep him! ![]() |

Well, I was all set to share more Germany pictures with ya'll, till I remembered that I just had to share these pictures of Ezekiel. So look closely at this picture, what do you see?![]() Well, you DON'T see a binky. And that is not a fluke! We finally threw away the pacifier. And let me just say, the next time I see a 4 year old with a pacifier in his mouth, I'm not going to pass judgement. That was almost us . I told him if he could go binky-free with a minimum of whining, I'd throw him a Big Boy Party. Whether it was the bribe or not, he did great, and so a party we threw. What did it involve, you ask? DOn't get excited, I'm nto that creative. The first step was a Big Boy haircut, during which he got to chose a movie to watch - a special treat. Behold, before: ![]() (I love that picture!) And after: ![]() Ok, so it's not the best picture or haircut, but you get the idea. Here's the after after: ![]() That's more hair than I lost at my last cut! Next, we had to have treats. What's a party without cake (or cupcakes?) Here are the girls singing "Happy Big Boy Day to You" (told you I'm not that creative). ![]() Hopefully, they will remember it as a special celebration, even though it wasn't a big to-do. Emily's up next; I'm determined to only have ONE "baby" in the family. Or at least, I'm determined to be the slave of only one baby's pacifier. ![]() |

It's funny how before Emily was born, we didn't even know how much we needed her, but now, we can't imagine life without her! Happy Birthday Emi! She received several really cute outfits, and a toy train: ![]() She liked them, really. ![]() She wasn't so sure about the singing and cake part... ![]() We WERE a little off key.... ![]() This carrot cake was actually pretty healthy ~ whole wheat flour, organic carrots, local honey....Nevermind the cream cheese frosting ![]() ![]() Happy Birthday! And many more! |

I am inordinately proud of myself for figuring out how to get this baby ticker over there in my sidebar. Do you see it? It's like a little womb cam, lol. Though I guess its presence begs an announcement, so here it is: We are expecting blessing number 5 in late July! We are very excited, and if I hadn't told you first here, Noelle would have told you if you so much as smiled at her. She has been telling our whole life story to anyone and everyone lately, bless her heart. The kids are all hoping for "a little brother for Zeke," and though we aren't in the habit of finding out our babies gender's before hand, I think we may this time, so stay tuned. And for those of you are who are excited to see God's hand at work, here are two praises: First, I thought I was about 12 weeks along, but it turnes out that I am more like 15 . This is going to go by quick, hopefully! And second, it turns out that the wonderful brithing center that I had Emily at is now considered "in-network," which means our insurance will pay 90% of the costs! I am so amazed by God's provision in this! I thought I had nothing to blog about, but I guess I was mistaken ![]() |

Noelle celebrated her 5th birthday recently with much fun all around. She actually got to stretch it out over several days. On the Sunday before her birthday she got to go to Golden Corral for lunch, since it is right near our church, but not so close to our house. Then on her actually birthday she chose to open her gifts instead of waiting for her "party." This Belle doll was a big hit, she said, eyes wide with surprise, " I didn't know I would get a Belle doll!" Silly girl, she didn't know any of her gifts before hand :) Thanks Nana!![]() The Beast was generously given to Zeke to play with, LOL. Two days after THAT my friend came over with her 3 daughters and that was her "party." Katie's sons playmobile guys have fierce battles, but ours are much more refined. Here they are having a ball on Noelle's cake: ![]() ![]() A good time was had by all. This morning in church we sang "how great is our God" and I thought, it is so amazing to me that God is allowing me to raise these beautiful, wonderful, precious children. Happy Birthday, Bella! |

I have nothing wise or witty to say, but here is a picture for my globe-trotting MIL:![]() The dresses were a fave, and have hardly come off! Thanks Nana! Zeke received a few additions to his train collection, and we all got some lovely books, so all in all it was a lovely Christmas. Now if I don't see you again before then, Happy New Year! |

Here are some more birthday pics from the Big Z's Big 3: The Cake:
I asked him, "Do you want a car cake or a train one?" Cars it was. The girls watched me decorate it, and when I asked how it looked, Noelle said in a dissapointed voice "I thought you were going to make a car out of frosting." HA! It's kinda cute that they think I am superwoman - for my next trick I will squeeze water from this rock :D But I hope the realization that I am not comes slowly and painlessly. Anyhow, the serious business of candles:
And gifts. He received a couple trains, a Thomas the Train Treasury, a 12 piece wooden truck puzzle that he did over and over and over....and some clothes. This is Adam's favorite picture:
Can you see his face? HA! He is actually not disgusted with the clothes, I promise! They were very nice - Thanks Aunt Joanne and Aunt Deborah! He even put one of the shirts on right away. He was just being silly, but it sure makes for a funny picture! I didn't get any other gift pics unfortunately, because after this Emily needed attending to. And even though he had a nice birthday, I have to say, I liked two better than I like three so far. Can I have my 2 year old Zeke back, PLEASE?

Welcome Emily Joy!
girly lips;
a big nose, and slightly elf-ish ears :)
and long fingers - a future pianist? The concensus seems to be that we should keep her, even though I think she is just using me as a human pacifier :)
We are so blessed.

"She's growing up so fast, it won't be long before I'll have to put the fear of God into some kid at the door" *
Happy Brithday Noelle! I wanted to put a picture from her birthday - you know, to show how big of a 4 year old she really is, but none of them were any good. Then I thought, well I'll get one from Christmas, that's close enough. No good either. So if she looks young to you in this pic, that's because it is SO two months ago and not at all reflective of the big girl she is now. :) She really is all legs all of a sudden. I keep asking her "Why are you getting so big?" and she answers: "Because I have to be the big sister!" To our new baby she means. Never mind that she is already Ezekiel's big sister. She pretty much ignored him for the first 4 months of his life, so even though they get along fine now, I guess somehow he still doesn't count in her eyes. Maybe they're too close in age. He's not the same as a baby baby . Anyway, here she is in all her Belle glory, (do you like my Belle hairdo?) with a tough girl scar on her cheek for good measure, lol. I love this girl! |
