Apr. 10, 2009 - Treehugger??? Me???

I just logged off the IM with an old friend who asked me this puzzling question... "Am I a treehugger???"  ME!  A Tree Hugger!  I'm even a little unsure of how it is rightly spelled:  A Tree Hugger?  Or a Treehugger?  Hmmm....  It was after a short conversation about cloth diapering.  I have pondered this question before, only it was about being considered a "Crunchy Mama", which I also really know nothing about.  I suppose one could take inventory of ones life and come to a conclusion.  Yes I have and will cloth diaper.  Which as I stated to my friend:  Gone are the days of pins and plastic pants, cloth diapering is cozy,  fluffy,  fun!  I do make my own  babies food, I use cloth napkins,  try and eat organically, grow rpoduce and herbs, freecycle and thrift, do not poison  vaccinate, and hey!  I've even made my own dog food, but I have  YET to HUG a tree!  Am I crunchy?  Sigh I may never know!  I love reading blogs about living simply and strive to do better as far as that is concerned.  I'll keep thinking on this one...

I would say no, that you aren't a treehugger, Shirley. The love you have is for all things created by God Almighty. Your love is sincere. There are no secrets behind why you love so much. You're full of the love of our Lord. So that would make you a treeLOVER. See the difference? Glad to have you back on your blog. I caught up tonight. Take care of that baby and yourself and blessings to you all...In His Love, Patti

When I think of tree hugger I always think of an extreme enviromentalist one who places more importance on nature or animals than God's people. God said we are to have dominion over them all. Just because you use cloth diapers, grow your own food etc would not make you a tree hugger in my mind,it makes you one smart cookie........

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, Philippians 3:12-14
