Aiming High

Description

In all I am, do, and will write, my aim is to hit God's mark. I will have moments of being misguided as I am not perfect, but know that I serve a God that loves me through it all.

Ignorance is Bliss?

Says who?  I don't like to be ignorant.  Do you like to be ignorant?  Nope, not for me.  I love learning new things.  In fact, before I started homeschooling Beautiful she would ask(well, demand, really) that we should do school, I would tell her school is whenever we learn something we didn't know before.  (Got me off the hook for awhile anyway.)  Every time she learns something new she shouts "we just did school!".  Fortunately, she loves learning new things also.  She's exhausting; I can't keep up with her desire to learn, learn, learn...."Oh, Father God, may she never lose this God given thirst for knowledge.  May she thirst just as severely for you."

No, ignorance is not bliss.  I am the queen of  "How To" books.  I read them cover to cover and get all gungho to start on the next project.....and......then nothing happens.  I don't seem to get to the "To" part of "How To".  Why?  No, not laziness, not even procrastination.  It all boils down to a combination of fear and perfectionism.  I don't want to make a mistake and screw up and then have to try again.  Or worse, lose all the work that I started before, thereby, wasting the precious little time I have.

So, someone hold me accountable.  Here is my list of things specifically in regards to this blogging "stuff" that I really want to learn and get around to implementing sometime in the very near future....

1.  What are "chatboxes"?  Are they worth it?
2.  What is an RSS feed?  How does one set one up?
3.  Is there a way to keep track of when your "friends" have added an entry to their blogs?  Or, added a comment to mine (even if the entry is in the archives)?
4.  Where's everybody getting all those cool backgrounds?  I sure would like to change my background to look more like me.
5.  What's all those numbers mean in people's interest portion of their profiles?
6.  How can I get my links to work?  I must be doing something wrong.
7.  How do I make blog friends?  In other words, how do I introduce myself?  I feel currently like a new kid in high school just feeling around trying to be in the "in" crowd.  :>)  (Oh, how do I make smiley faces, etc.)
8.  How does one make all those side bar stuff?  You know, all the stuff on the side like lists, etc.
9.  I want to categorize my archives.  How, please?
10.  Eventually, I would like to add pictures or videos.  How?
11.  How do I change the time to reflect my timezone and keep it that way?

Okay, I know there is a "help" button on homeschoolblogger that most likely addresses most of my questions.  But...I have this learning gap in my thinking that becomes a huge cavern when I look at manual type instructions.  I need pictures, Man.  Can't anyone one else relate?  I'm a visual/hands on learner when it comes to electronics and computer things!  Fortunately, my buddy over at AHappyHome is going to come over to my house one of these days and help me get my feet on the ground.

I'm sure as I slowly start to eliminate questions off of this list  and as I actually get around to doing it, I will have more questions.  But, that's it for now.  See, maybe here's the real reason why I never do the "To" part of "How To": I bite off way more than I can chew at once.  :>)

Thank you for being patient with me,
Holly

Ahhhh, yes, perfectionism...

......the promise of delight, the deliverer of pain! Well, your questions are going to blow my mind, bc some of them I have NO answers to. Sidebar stuff, template stuff, links and such I can do. But some of your ponderings will have to send you to tutorial websites to research. You alone will have to decide if all that time (yes, lots and lots and lots of time) is worth it. In the meantime, I am looking forward to saving you some needless pain and suffering :)

Blessings,
Keri
