Mar. 27, 2008 - Love This Product!

Thanks to my health conscious friend across the country in Maine, I am now turned on to Lara Bars. I am forever looking for a quick snack to give to my kids, especially for when we leave the house. This is challenging when trying to stick to whole foods because so many things have to refrigerated. So when I found this product, I was skeptical because so many things that are packaged are not in the good-for-you category. Well....this is! Take a look at these ingredients: dates, almonds, unsweetened cherries. That's it! That is the ingredients list in its entirety for the Cherry Pie flavor - one of my personal favorites. You say to yourself - but would my kids like them? Oh yes...they pass my kids oh-so-discerning palates. You can find them at Trader Joe's and even Costco has them.

Mar. 27, 2008 - Food Fraud
I love Nutrition Action's Healthletter. My step-mom has been reading them for eons and has recently been passing them my way. One of the best sections in the healthletter is titled Food Porn. We get to see the reality behind the marketing...one of my personal hot-buttons. What this section does is shed light to the truth behind what the label claims. Too bad there is not more regulation on what can just be slapped on a label. Here is a link to an on-line version called Food Fraud .
