I grew some beans for a Botany experiment a few weeks ago.
The pictures are good examples of how the seed grows.
First you get the things you need.
You Will Need
One round clear cup, glass, or wide mouth canning jar
A paper towell or two Or a piece of fabric would probably work too.
A bag of cotton balls that is at least half full
Bean seeds
Instructions
Get the clear container. Take the paper towell and roll it up loosely. Drop the rolled paper towell into the cotainer and fold the edges down so they stick about one fourth or less over the top of the container. Fill the inside of the paper towell lined container with cotton balls about three fourths full. If you were to draw a line right through the middle the layers would look like this: Container edge, Paper towell, Cotton balls, Paper towell, Container edge. Now put some beans in between the edge of the container and the paper towell, Wet it untill there is one inch of water on the bottom and you are done.
Here are some pictures of what mine looked liked. This one is pinto bean and the one above it is lima. A few hours later than the last one.
The next one is what they look like from the top.
That's it!

What a delightful project! I don't think I've ever seen what a bean looks like growing under ground. You are a fortunate young lady. They are beautiful.
