1/18/2007 - Goals, Posting Days, Changes
I am so sorry I have not been much of a poster lately. I have been so busy. But to make up for it here is a longish update.
Here are some things (not necessarily in order) that I hope to accomplish in 2007:
Read the whole Bible
Finish 10th grade
Get my drivers permit
Grow closer to my family
Become more organized
Learn to cook better (ask about the salmon incident)
Spend my time more wisely.
On to the changes part, I think I’m going to set certain days for when I post. That way I don’t go for weeks without posting something. Tuesday, Thursday and Sundays will be my posting days. Also I’m going to put some new stuff on my blog. Like some music tracks from radioblogclub, and a thingy to subscribe to my blog. Does anyone know how to put a blogroll on? Let me know. I got to go. Never forget what He has done for you. He sure hasn’t.

1. Are you a Christian? Yes.
2. If the above answer was “yes” how old were you when you became a Christian? I don't have an exact date. I just know that sometime I realized His love for me.
3. What is you favorite Bible verse? The whole thing. =)
4. Who is your favorite Old Testament character? I have always like Joesph.
5. Who (with the exception of Jesus) is your favorite New Testament character? I have always like James and John.
6. Where are you reading in the Bible right now? Genesis
7. Are you trying to memorize any portion of the Bible right now? If you mean word for word then no. But if you mean remembering what it says yes. Does that make sense?
8. If the above answer was “yes” what is the reference to the portion that you are memorizing? the whole thing. LOL.

Song of Soloman 8:7
"Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned." KJV
Wow. Thats all I had to say after I found this verse in my Bible. "Many waters can not quench love". How beautiful and poetic is that. The NASB explains it a little differently.
"Many waters cannot quench love, Nor will rivers overflow it; If a man were to give all the riches of his house for love, It would be utterly despised."
The world talks so much about love . Being in love, feeling loved, wanting love; but in reality, they don't have a clue has to what love is. True love is in Christ. It's not everyday that someone would volunteer to be torchered for the sake of the world.

I think my blogging break is over. How was your Christmas? Mine was great. Starting on the 23 my family and I read A Christmas Carol By Charles Dickens. There was five chapters and everytime we finshed a chapter we got to open a present. Then on Christmas Eve my older siblings and my nieces came over for Christmas dinner. That was the first time in 10 years we had one has a family. Some of the things I got from my mom were the Love Comes Sofly book series, a candy making kit and a pair of pj's.Emily gave me a miniture drawer.
On Christmas me and Emily went to my grandparents house to have dinner and open presents. My dad gave me a bike, $20 and some electronic gizmos. My grandparents gave me $50 dollars and some clothes.
Yes I know Christmas is not about presents, but you guys are going to ask anyway. LOL. We took down our tree the day after Christmas. Mosly because I insisted on it. I can not stand stepping on pine needles. Ouch!
Does anybody know if the feature where you can look at all your friends blogs is ever going to be back on HSB? If not then your not going to be seeing me often unless you activate RSS.
On a light note, the new year is just around the corner. Yay! 2007! I will be 16 next year. I can't believe it!!! Yay!
Keep the faith and remember that our God reigns forever,

Christmas
Before I give my take on this, let me say that I’m not trying to thrash other people who believe differently, I’m just trying to express my beliefs on this.
Have you ever stopped to think ‘why do I celebrate Christmas’? Why do we celebrate any holiday while were at it? Sadly, the majority of people can’t tell you why they do. You’ll hear some people say that they don’t celebrate Christmas or Easter because they have pagan roots, well this post is not to step on their toes, I know it their hearts they want to honor God; it’s to encourage you to take time to remember what Christ did for you. Christmas might not be the exact day Christ was born, but do we necessarily have to celebrate someone’s birth on the exact day? Think about this for a minute, let’s say N’s birthday is Friday October 30, but the family can have more of a celebration on the 31. Does this make it wrong because they celebrate N’s birthday on Halloween when it isn’t even her birthday? Of course not!! What if her presents are wrapped in black and orange paper, then is it wrong? No! The problem is not in the fact that we celebrate Christ’s birth on a day that is the same has a pagan one, but that we take the time to remember! Remember what He has done for us! Just like we take communion or celebrate Easter, so that we don’t forget Him, we go to church so we don’t forget His ways. Do it to remember. Someone explained a Christmas tree to me like this:
“The star represents the star over Bethlehem,
The tree represents Jesus dying (in 2nd Peter puts it has ‘upon a tree’)
And the lights represent the Light of the world.”
Now if your out worshiping pagan gods, obsessing over what you can get, and worshiping the tree, then maybe it‘s sin to you. Anyway, that is how my family goes about Christmas. If you have any questions or anything, then leave a comment, send an email, message or IM me ,whichever is easier for you. =)
Merry Christmas,
Alycia

12/7/2006 - I Got this from LizBeth
11/29/2006 -
Lately, God has been talking a lot to me about making excuses. I put the blame on someone else, or make up some reason why I can't do something like read my Bible, pray or minister to other believers. But upon reading the Bible, I've come to realize that this is not the most Godly approch. How this happened was I was reading in Hebrews 4 and I came accross this verse:
Hebrews 4:12;13 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and sis a discerner of the thoughtsand intents of the heart. And there is not creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
This verse was one of the ones that hit me. God knows every little excuse I make and not only does He know, He knows the intents of my heart. That all those excuses I make are just irrsponsible and unnecesarry; and I have to give account to God for them. And upon thinking about this, I came to the conclusion that all those times when I think I need to make an excuse, it's because I don't have a Godly attitude or reaction about something. So to get to the point, there is never ever an excuse as to why we can't live up to God's standards. On the days it feels impossible just remember that we have the Holy Spirit to help us, teach us, and guide us. What a relief!!! |

11/10/2006 - Hey!
I'm sitting here board, so I thought I would blog something. I have been rather busy lately, between baby-sitting, school and miscellaneous other things. I found this song that I thought was rather awesome:
The Love of Christ- Point of Grace
How long (how long) How wide (how wide) Is the love of Christ How deep (how deep) How high (how high) Is the love of Christ It would take ten thousand lifetimes To comprehend, a love with no beginning A love that knows no end Chorus More than any heart could measure or ever hold His love could fill the oceans 'Til they overflowed Chorus Higher than the mountains Deeper than the ocean Farther than the reach of the sky Wider than the heavens Longer than forever Greater is the love of Christ Chorus
How true is that? How awesome is that?
Following Amanda's example, I shall blog about something that's been bugging me.
I don't know everything. Although I try and try to think that I know more about things (especially the Bible), really, I know hardly anything. Just because I have a considerable amount of knowledge in one area, doesn't mean I know it all. I wrestle with pride, and I hate myself for it. It makes me say and do things that I later regret. and with thinking I know it all and pride comes legalisiam, and with that, all sorts of other things. I'm the type that will chase after you trying to get the speck out of my eye, while I have a huge plank in mine. This is what God has been dealing with me on lately.
Good night fellow blog people (and those who don't blog but are reading mine),
Alycia

10/9/2006 - narnia and lotr
I know that this post is probely going to tick a lot of people off, but I feel I have to share this.
I believe that God has shown me that Narnia and LOTR are evil. Mostly because of the magic/negative elements in them. Magic is bad. There is no good magic or a good way to use magic. Show me where in the Bible it say's do only good magic, and I will show you where it says witchcraft is evil.
|
Ezekiel 13:20 ....Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I am against your magic charms...
|
|
Acts 19:19 Also, many of those who had practiced magic brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. And they counted up the value of them, and it totaled fifty thousand pieces of silver.
Deuteronomy 18:10 There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer,
1 Samuel 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft,And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, He also has rejected you from being king.
Genesis 44:5 Is not this the one from which my lord drinks, and with which he indeed practices divination? You have done evil in so doing.
Ok, so the Lord hates magic. In any way, shape or form. If you are still not convinced that fiction books with this kind of thing are bad, think of it like this. if miricales are done by the Spirit of God. Then isn't it fair to say that magic is done by the power of Satan? Now I know that sometimes conforming to the Word is really hard and takes lot's of effort and you might be able to do things you once did, but God will give you stength to stop doing whatever it is that is unpleasing to Him.
