Song of Soloman 8:7

"Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned." KJV

Wow.  Thats all I had to say after I found this verse in my Bible. "Many waters can not quench love". How beautiful and poetic is that.  The NASB explains it a little differently.

"Many waters cannot quench love,  Nor will rivers overflow it; If a man were to give all the riches of his house for love, It would be utterly despised."

The world talks so much about love . Being in love, feeling loved, wanting love; but in reality, they don't have a clue has to what love is. True love is in Christ. It's not everyday that someone would volunteer to be torchered for the sake of the world.

I think my blogging break is over.   How was your Christmas? Mine was great. Starting on the 23 my family and I read A Christmas Carol By Charles Dickens.  There was five chapters and everytime we finshed a chapter we got to open a present.  Then on Christmas Eve my older siblings and my nieces came over for Christmas dinner.  That was the first time in 10 years we had one has a family. Some of the things I got from my mom were the Love Comes Sofly book series, a candy making kit and a pair of pj's.Emily gave me a miniture drawer.

On Christmas me and Emily  went to my grandparents house to  have dinner and open presents. My dad gave me a bike, $20 and some electronic gizmos. My grandparents gave me $50 dollars and some clothes.

Yes I know Christmas is not about presents, but you guys are going to ask anyway. LOL.  We took down our tree the day after Christmas. Mosly because I insisted on it. I can not stand stepping on pine needles. Ouch!

Does anybody know if the feature where you can look at all your friends blogs is ever going to be back on HSB? If not then your not going to be seeing me often unless you activate RSS.

On a light note, the new year is just around the corner. Yay! 2007! I will be 16 next year. I can't believe it!!! Yay!

Keep the faith and remember that our God reigns forever,

Alycia

Christmas
Before I give my take on this, let me say that I’m not trying to thrash other people  who believe differently, I’m just trying to express my beliefs on this.

Have you ever stopped to think ‘why do I celebrate Christmas’?  Why do we celebrate any holiday while were at it?   Sadly, the majority of people can’t tell you why they do.  You’ll hear some people say that they don’t celebrate Christmas or Easter because they have pagan roots, well this post is not to step on their toes, I know it their hearts they want to honor God; it’s to encourage you to take time to remember what Christ did for you.  Christmas might not be the exact day Christ was born, but do we necessarily  have to celebrate someone’s birth on the exact day? Think about this for a minute, let’s say N’s birthday is Friday October 30, but the family can have more of a celebration on the 31. Does this make it wrong because they celebrate N’s birthday on Halloween when it isn’t even her birthday? Of course not!! What if her presents are wrapped in black and orange paper, then is it wrong? No! The problem is not in the fact that we celebrate Christ’s birth on a day that is the same has a pagan one, but that we take the time to remember! Remember what He has done for us! Just like we take communion or celebrate Easter,  so that we don’t forget  Him, we go to church so we don’t forget His ways.  Do it to remember.    Someone explained a Christmas tree to me like this:
“The star represents the star over Bethlehem,
The tree represents Jesus dying (in 2nd Peter puts it has ‘upon a tree’)
And the lights represent the Light of the world.”
Now if your out worshiping pagan gods, obsessing over what you can get, and worshiping the tree, then  maybe it‘s sin to you.  Anyway, that is how my family goes about Christmas.  If you have any questions or anything, then leave a comment, send an email, message or IM me ,whichever is easier for you. =)
Merry Christmas,

Alycia

Lately, God has been talking a lot to me about making excuses. I put the blame on someone else, or make up some reason why I can't do something like read my Bible, pray or minister to other believers. But upon reading the Bible, I've come to realize that this is not the most Godly approch. How this happened was I was reading in Hebrews 4 and I came accross this verse:

Hebrews 4:12;13
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and sis a discerner of the thoughtsand intents of the heart. And there is not creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

This verse was one of the ones that hit me. God knows every little excuse I make and not only does He know, He knows the intents of my  heart. That all those excuses I make are just irrsponsible and unnecesarry; and I have to give account to God for them. And upon thinking about this, I came to the conclusion that all those times when I think I need to make an excuse, it's because I don't have a Godly attitude or reaction about something. So to get to the point, there is never ever an excuse as to why we can't live up to God's standards. On the days it feels impossible just remember that we have the Holy Spirit to help us, teach us, and guide us. What a relief!!!
