Homeschooling in Alaska

• Monday, August 21, 2006 - This 'n' That

Well, so far the only curriculum that has come is Sequential Spelling from AVKO.  I've had a chance to look it over, and I think it will work well for us.  I'm excited to get the rest of my curriculum so we can get started with school.  I still need to make a schedule and become more familiar with the writing program I have.

Today I made a missionary prayer/letter schedule.  I took all the missionaries that our church supports (20 of them) and made a schedule so that we will be praying for 4 specific missionaries each school day.  We will also be writing a letter to a missionary  every day- so each missionary should get a letter from us once a month.  I think this will help my girls to identify with our missionaries as real people, and not just someone they hear about at church.  We can also learn about where each missionary is (GEOGRAPHY!!!).

that's a great idea about the missionaries, I loved their interest in missionaries the other day and I think you came up with a great way to encourage it!!!
