Homeschooling in Alaska

• Tuesday, August 22, 2006 - Berries!

I have LOTS of raspberries in my backyard and my husband LOVES raspberry jam.  I don't particularly like raspberries, picking raspberries, or raspberry jam, but I LOVE my hubby.  The rain stopped yesterday, so I got out there and picked berries.  I made them into freezer jam this morning.  I'm glad I made myself go out there and pick them yesterday, because it is raining again today.

I LOVE rasberry jam. I can't wait for next year and our family will fianlly be on our Homestead and there are RASBERRIES there. Those things are soooooo expensive in the store. I grew up eating as many rasberrries as I wanted. I didn't relise how spoiled I was till I got out on my own. lol. God Bless.

I used to have the treat of going to my grandparents to pick raspberries with my Grandpa who loved them as much as I do! We had a great time with me all bundled up in his clothes to protect me from prickers in the grove. At the end of the day after a nice hot bath (another of Grandma's to keep the itchies away) we got ice cream with raspberries. That way too many didn't get eaten in the grove. I just loved being with him. Hmmmm isn't that like Jesus, if we wrap up with Him and have a hot bath, the prickers don't hurt so bad. :)

Hi fellow Alaskan,
I, like you, have many rasperries in my back yard. However, I do love it. I have never made jam, but would love to learn. I might try and teach myself this coming summer. Thanks or the pics!
