ambulate!!! love that word. i love your story about the tennis shoes....is that an allegory? i forget. the afghan looks great. i can't help you on the knitting, but someone suggested that the last stitch should be the opposite of the rest of the row. for instance, if you're knitting straight across, make your last stitch a pearl. it's supposed to help keep the shape....but what do i know!
