Numbers 18:6, And I, behold, I have taken your brethren the Levites from among the children of Israel: to you they are given as a gift for the LORD, to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.
In this verse God was talking to Aaron. Remember, when the children of Israel were in the wilderness, how God told them to set up the tabernacle and give special jobs to the Levites? Well, in the above verse, God was telling Aaron about how the Levites would do the service of the tabernacle. Note that God gave the Levites as a gift unto Aaron. Most importantly, notice what comes next in the verse: for the LORD.
God gives each of us gifts and talents. However, they are not for our own glory or pleasure, they are for the Lord! Do you remember the parable about the steward who hid his master's talent in the earth while his master was gone? The servant was wrong to not use his talent to gain more for his master (go to Matthew 25:14-30 to read about that in the Bible). That is the same with us. God has given us each something, even if it is small, and we need to use it for His glory and honour.
Also, if someone praises you for how well you sing, or draw, or whatever, give God the glory! He is the one who gave you the ability, after all! One man was even killed because he didn't give God the glory for what he did. You can read about that in Acts 12:21-23.
And always remember 1 Corinthians 10:31. Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
