My Adventures With a Pencil
I was hesitant to post this, because I feel like if I post something I made, it's like, "Look everybody! See how special I am? Now, shower me with compliments, and ooh and aah over what I accomplished!" So, please don't post comments that make me feel like that. Okay?
I'm not usually an artsy person. I play the violin and the piano, but that is different. Playing a musical instrument like that is a lot like math -- they're both very precise and exact. I also enjoy coding web pages and working with computer programming. That's because those are also very precise. One minor mistake, and it can throw off the entire page or program (and, yes, I have done this, and it's very frustrating trying to find that one little mistake!). But drawing, painting, etc., is
not precise. There is no right or wrong way to draw something.
Last week we were at my grandparents' house. My grandmother is a "real" artist, so we often do an art project together. Well, this time, I wasn't actually planning on participating, but Grammy asked me, and I said yes! The first thing we drew together was a flipflop. Grammy put a flipflop on the table that we were drawing on, and everyone had to draw it from their own perspective. After a little bit of effort, this is what I came up with:
I was very pleased with it! I guess I'm not really all that bad at drawing, but I hardly ever sit down and take the time to draw something nicely. I would much rather be surfing

or playing my violin. So, to conclude the matter, yes, drawing is fun, but not really my thing right now. I guess I'm more left-brained than right-brained. Speaking of which, I might even write a post on sometime.

It's a very well done flip flop! Is that a hole in the heel? I have had a few pairs like that...or just the dent from the heel. Mine usually break their straps too. Bless your dear artistic grammy and what she gets you all up to!
What an awesome blog! I can appreciate left and right brain conversation. I think I'm slightly more right brained but my two sides are rather well connected so I flit often between them. How's that for an unscientific notion about my own brain!? Ha!
Those cookie pictures look yummy.
Carry on you left brained smarty allowing your right brain to shine through too. Let's hear it for the lefts, the rights and those of us out of our minds completely!
Just joking!

Nice! I especially like the little smudgy toe prints on the front of the flip flops. They make it look very realistic--I've seen a lot of flip flops with those.
