Free Graphics, Music, Sound Effects, etc. Compliation
If you are like me, you are probably always wondering where those websites are that have all the free stuff. I love coming across a website that offers completely free graphics or photos or whatever. Over time, I have collected several sites in my "bookmarks" that I look through if I happen to be working on a project that needs a little something. Like a template that needs just the right touch. Or an audio project that need some sound effects or music. So I've decided to list some on my blog as a handy resource for others. I don't have a lot, but as I come across more, I may add them. So be sure to check back.

Each site has its own terms of use. Be sure to read them before using their content. Also, it would probably be best to browse with a parent, as I haven't looked at everything on these sites, and don't know if there's anything inappropriate.

Free Graphics

Seamless tile nature backgrounds
These are great for blog backgrounds! I have used a few for my own templates. Nice.

Absolute Cross Free Graphics & Downloads
Some interesting stuff. Lots of abstracts. This would be a good place to look for a background for a guy's template, although girls could find just as much, too.

Touch A Memory websets, templates, background graphics

I'm not really sure how to describe this. Lots of photos/artwork of sorts.

Lean's Blinkies
Lots of cute blinkies to use on your blog.

Smart Web Centers
TONS of public domain backgrounds. Lots to choose from.

Bigfoto.com
Large photos of scenery, places, etc. from around the world.

Dreamwork Designs
Mostly sets of beautiful artwork (paintings) to be used on your personal website/blogs. Very nice stuff here, if you can figure out how to arrange it tastefully (not my specialty!).

Growing in Grace Magazine scripture tags
Very pretty. A nice touch for your sidebar.

Thanks to my sister Amy for providing me with many of the graphics links!

Free Music

Wikipedia compliation

So handy! I have a bunch of this music on my iPod. Mostly classical. The draw-back is that all of the music is in OGG format, so you may not be able to play it without changing the file-format first.

Partners in Rhyme
What do I say? Free music and sound effects.

Free Sound Effects

Freesfx.co.uk
I love this site!  They don't have a ton to choose from, but it is fun to browse and get ideas from it.

Soundsnap.com
A great resource. Thousands of sound effects to look through. Browse by category or search for something specific.

Partners in Rhyme
I think some of these (if not all) are duplicates of the ones on Freesfx.co.uk. I'm not sure about that, though.

I hope you can find something in there. If you know of some other great resources along those lines, please send them to me so I can consider adding them!

Wow! That's great, I always have a lot of trouble trying to find free graphics and such. Next time I need some I'll check out those websites!

Wow, you changed your template! It looks good, although... I must admit... I liked the old one better.
This one is also very nice though.

Hi Alizona! My name's Jess - my Mum found this blog for me and I love to come here and look around. I love your writing style and topics - keep it up!

And thankyou for those links - it can be extremely annoying if you NEED an image for something but can't find any (that are free anyway!)

Love Jess

Alison, we know you love violins, but you need to bring back your personal picture!!!!
Don't know if I'll ever need these links but I'll keep them in mind... for a secret project that will someday (after I've gotten enough spare time!) be revealed!

Looky, I'm commenting! *grin*

As for my choice of time period, I guess I got interested in the 1500s when I read GA Henty's "St. Bartholomew's Eve." It's a very interesting time, politically and such. But...I honestly don't know enough to write about it, which is why I'm doing it for NaNo! *grin* Otherwise I'd never write it. This way I can get the first draft down, and then go back and do more thorough research. It's very hard to learn about daily life in 1500s France!

I'm rewriting TBU for many reasons....it just keeps wanting to change and get bigger and bigger! So I thought I'd give it a chance. There's new characters, and new plot twists, and hopefully it'll be an improvement. :-D

So how have you been lately? How is your writing coming? You know, you should do NaNo!! Really!!

Well, I have lots to do....I'll talk to you later!

Alright - I'll admit it! I've been 'lurking' on your blog since September! *Whistle* Boy that sounds bad! I am on my knees begging for forgiveness :)

You used to long for the day you could iron too? I thought I was the only one! I used to say to our neighbour, 'I can't wait to iron!' and she has always, always remembered it!

You guessed my journal amounts nearly right! One is a personal journal, one is a devotional journal, but the other is a reading journal, where we write down all our thoughts on the book/s we are currently reading. It helps you think about what you're reading, and gives you some ideas to notebook the book when you're finished it! Although I do actually have a nature journal, I don't use it much - I'm not much of an artist! Actually, I am going to order a new devotional journal soon, because I finished the other one! So I really only have two momentarily.

Five computers... we have Mum's computer, Dad's laptop , Mum's laptop , and Kids one and two. It is an extremely complex system!

I'm not sure if we have Firefox one or two... I think it's one. IE is pretty good on 'our' laptops as they are fairly new, but IE drives me crazy on the other computers!

Thanks for the long comment and informing me of all our similarities! It certainly made me smile!

I don't mind at all you adding me to your friends list; I'm adding you too! (if that's OK with you...)

I didn't make the connection with you being on Backyard either... I like going there time to time. Josh - my 15yo brother - like participating on the 'A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words' posts. He can normally come up with something pretty funny.

BTW, I love your 'new' template! It is really nice!

Never alone.

Love Jess

I didn't get to reply to all you wrote in your comment earlier...

Fantazgreat isn't a real word - I 'learnt' it on an Answers in Genesis documentary for kids. The guy who uses it also uses the word fantazbad!

Thankyou for your compliments on my article. Yes, I did write it; Joseph and Daniel are two of my favourite Bible characters; they really were amazing!

Oh yes - the number 127; when I reached that number, I just told myself, 'OK Jess, I think you've done enough.' As I was posting it (I write on word first) other random facts were going through my brain, but I thought I had done enough!

Love Jess

Posted by BookwormMN

Oh, I'll have to check these out and remember them!

And I looked at your animals facts - very good! I learned some things! I think it's quite an honor to be part of Backyard!

And also I took a peak at the video you sent me. Very fun too, I'd have to say the shark is my favorite part too!

One more thing! I like your new template change!!

Have a beautiful week!

~Amber

P.S. I'm not logged in because it wasn't working so well at first, so I was going to log in after I typed in this message - what was I thinking, I would lose it that way!! But It's ok, I stopped myself before I did that! So anyways, that's just why I'm not logged in!

Thanks for posting the names of the sites. I am thinking about changing my template one of these days (if I can get Arya to help me:-) so this should be great!

I know it seemed for a while there like I had stopped blogging, but I am back to regular posts now, so please come check them out if you get a chance! God bless.

In Christ,
Christine
