Also known as - Mary and Kali. (Sorry Hannah, I love you, but you weren't involved in any of this today!)
My oldest daughter got her driver's license today. Oh my goodness. I never felt so old as I did watching her drive off with the driving instructor today. I am ancient. I am the mother of a child with a driver's license. That just doesn't seem possible. Of course, State Farm will be sucking up more money from us now that she's been added to our policy. She'll be paying for part of it, though; and thankfully we have older cars with high miles on them - keeps the insurance costs down! Tomorrow she'll take the car to work, and I'll take a few Excedrin.
So we go from the oldest to the youngest. Kali was talking to me earlier today and suddenly something caught my eye. I told her to stop talking (not an easy thing to do!) and gently touched her bottom front tooth. It's loose. My BABY has a loose tooth! Holy hell. What is going on here?! One gets her license and one gets a loose tooth. This is almost more than I can handle in a day. Thankfully Hannah hasn't had any life-changes today.
Tomorrow Alex is going back to Atlanta, and he's taking Hannah and Kali with him. The house is going to be so quiet! While I'll enjoy some time alone (Mary has to work) it will be lonely here without them. I tried to bribe the girls to stay home with me; they weren't having any of it. Kali said I could still bake her some cookies - when they got home. It was really cute to watch them run around and pack a ton of toys. I had to remind them that they'll only be gone for one night. They feel like big shots going out on business with daddy.
I think I might have to break out a new pattern and at least trace it. I haven't sewn anything for a while now! I have been busy with 10,000 other things, though. I'm already starting to work on our class schedule for next year. Can't a girl catch a break!? ;)
