Ramblings
Okay, so I don't have any exciting updates. I just thought I'd ramble on about nothing for a while. Ooohhhh....contain your excitement! ;)
Hannah has about 4 lessons left in grammar for the year and I've been too lazy to do them with her. Terrible, isn't it? Though I know I'll do them tomorrow now so I don't feel so guilty.
Alex is back up in Atlanta and should be home tomorrow.
I've been having the "it's the end of the school year, what are we going to do this summer" blahs. Does anyone else get them?
The past school year, I believe, was a rousing success. Hannah now devours books, has the memory of a hawk, and did a wonderful job with math. Kali, well.....she's Kali. Thankfully she's only 5 and has a long way to go. Mary - holy hell - will be a senior, though she has enough credits that she really doesn't need many classes next year. Lucky girl. I'll probably need a few weeks in a rest home.
See.......mindless ramblings from me. Must be because Alex isn't here talking my ear off about one thing or another. Or maybe it's because I'm not yapping at him.
Maybe I should go fold some laundry! |

FPEA Convention
Wow - once again it has taken me too long to update this. My apologies. ;) I'll start with the convention and work my way on up - eventually.
The convention was great! The hotel was fabulous. My migraine was horrid. :( Oh how I hate those darn things.
Let me start off with the hotel. The convention was at the Rosen Shingle Creek. If you ever, ever get a chance to go there - do so. The service was impeccable. From the moment we pulled up until the moment we drove away, we were very well taken care of. It turned a nice weekend into a fabulous weekend.
Here's Kali hanging out on the bed. My little bed hog slept in the middle, which left mommy hanging off the edge. Gee, just like at home!
If only I could have taken this TV home with me. :)
Hey, who is that hot chick in the mirror?
They had robes in the closet for us. Wow. That was soooooo nice.
Here was the view from our room.
The exhibit hall was HUGE! Of course, it completely overwhelmed Kali who spent the next few hours crying. I should have known. We spent some time on the floor in the hallway - her on my lap all curled up. I had a blast buying curriculum for next year for the girls, and much to Alex's delight, didn't spend as much as he thought I would. Eating lunch outside. Kali decided it was too hot, so we moved back inside shortly after I took this picture. She was right; we were melting.
I only went to one lecture while we were there even though I had planned to go to at least 4 or 5 of them. I went to the "How am I Smart" one and it was the best thing I could have done. Now I have to read the book to keep my brain current, but I know it's going to help me out with the girls and their different ways of learning. And hopefully it will keep me from putting lots of duct tape on Hannah to keep her from talking alllll dayyyyyyyy loonnnnnnggggggg.
Here's part of the pile that we came home with. We also bought a microscope which showed up a few days ago. Hannah and Kali are checking out everything they can with it now. Another shot of our haul.
We had a great time, learned lots of wonderful things, and relaxed a bit, too. I was quite upset that I had to make my own darn coffee when I got home; how rude! Now we just have a few last things to wrap up for this year and then we can enjoy this hot ass summer down here. Then I'll go into my freaky organizing mode to get ready for next year! |

Finally - an update with pictures!
Happy Mother's Day! Hope this update finds everyone happy and well. Last week was Kali's 5th birthday. FIVE! I can't believe how fast these past 5 years have gone by. She's been having trouble going to sleep lately, so right now she's snuggled in daddy's arms on the couch. Ahhhh.......you have to grab moments like that when you can, because before you know it, they only have one more year of high school left.
Here's some pictures for y'all.....
Here's the birthday girl wearing her new High School Musical pj's from Mary. She loves them - and her.
We spent a night at Pop Century over at Disney. We were in the 80's building. Gosh that made me feel old!
Kali had lots of fun in the pool.
Look! A famous person!! Nope, it's "just" Mary.
Hannah had lots of fun in the water, too.
We had dinner at the Whispering Canyon Cafe; this was taken while we were waiting for our little pager to go off. We all had a blast at dinner and can't wait to go back there.
Kali wanted to go to the Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique for her birthday. She almost didn't make it in there because she said she was too scared. Thankfully she decided that it was an okay place to be.
The princesses had to take time out for a snack.
Kali got a gift card to Build A Bear from grandma and grandpa. She was soooo happy to finally go there! Her bear's name is Pinky.
Pinky and her mommy.
Well, there's the update in pictures! Our school year is nearly over (yay!) and I am looking forward to heading off to the convention in Orlando in a few weeks. I don't need a ton of things for the girls, but I do have a lot of things I want to look at and see if it's something we need or want.
My Mother's Day has been WONDERFUL! Mary got me some yummy smelling coconut body butter from Philosophy. If I were blindfolded, I'd eat the stuff. Hannah and Kali got me an external hard drive. Yeah! I wanted one so I could back up all of my files. Putting stuff on cd's is really time consuming and I'm always so afraid of my computer crashing. Alex cooked all day and check out what he made for dessert.......
Yep. That's a sweet potato pie. No, it was not frozen. He made the dang thing (except for the crust) from scratch. It may have been the best sweet potato pie that I've ever had. Yummy!

Dual-Enrollment
Hey all! I promise to have a larger, full-of-pictures update later on........but I had to share.....
My oldest daughter just registered for her summer and fall classes today at PHCC. She will only have 1 class at home next year. One. And while I am THRILLED for her (did I mention she'll be driving to her classes?!) I'm a bit sad for myself. Don't tell her, but I LOVE having her here during the day with me. We chat, we argue, we eat. It's all good. Ahhhh.......it's all so bittersweet.
Thank goodness I have the other two here with me, right?! Right?!?!!!! |

April 1st!
See what happens when my kids don't listen to me? They end up in the corner. However, I thought this was incredibly cute, so I took a picture. They didn't think it was very cute.
This is Hannah's version of the Great Wall of China. Hmmmm....wonder if the original wall had all these colorful animals?? ;) Did you know that the Great Wall is not just one long wall? And did you also know that the part that most people visit and take pictures on is just a replica for the tourists?! Interesting.
Oh my goodness, she ate soo much her butt blew up!!! ;) Check out the size of those feet!
They seem to be permanently attached to these things most of the day. Bounce, bounce, bounce, bounce, slap, bounce, slap, bounce, slap, bounce.....allllllllll dayyyyyyyyyyy looooooooooooooong.
I was getting forgetful and not putting up the daily menu every day. I had originally done it so Hannah and Mary would quit asking me multiple times a day "What's for dinner, mom?" So I figured I'd put the whole week up at once. Done. Tonight's dinner was lovely.
Could the two of them be more cute?! Kali decided she was going to sleep in Mary's bed for a few hours the other night. Awwwwwwwwww. I know they're going to miss the hell out of her when she goes off to College (yikes!) in just a little over a year. Mmmmm.....our weekly haul from our favorite produce place. Yumm-o-licious!
On Friday we'll finish our study on China. Talk about yummy! We're making Crab Rangoon, Egg Drop Soup, and Chicken Fried Rice. Someday we may all master the use of chopsticks. Someday.
I cannot believe there's only 10 weeks left of this school year! Where has the time gone? Hannah's done an amazing job this year (well, I think she has!). I'm really hoping to go to the convention in Orlando at the end of May so I can get whatever curriculum we need for next year, and so I can escape for a few days. Well, I will take one of them with me, but that's no biggie. At least I won't have to cook!!! |

This, that, and the other
Okay, I realize it's been a while since I've updated this. I've have no good excuses; I've just been lazy. However, since it's been a while, you now get to see lots of oddball pictures to try and catch y'all up on things.
What is this, you ask? My laundry?! Hmmm......not a bad idea! However, it's not my laundry. It is three jars of strawberry jam that I was processing. I didn't get any 'before' shots; this is the best I could come up with.
Here's the after shot! This is the 4th jar. It's what was leftover, so I stuck it in my fridge and we promptly used it up. It was oh-so very good! You can almost taste it, can't you?
And here's the mess it all left behind. See, my kitchen does get messy!!! It was well worth it, though.
Let's see what else has been going on at the Knight house......
We raised some caterpillars (thank you, Cara!). Here they are, all teeny-tiny.
Being the bad mom that I am, I forgot to take other pictures of the growing caterpillars. Here's what happened to one of them! We released them all on Easter morning. The girls had a blast with this and want to do it again.
Granola anyone?? This is some seriously good stuff.
More random things..............
Here's Kali in her "mommy finally tested out the pattern for my birthday dress and this is what happened" dress. I'll make the real one before her birthday. Hey, I'm just glad it fits and the zipper works!
Beware of the giant 7 year old!!!! Dang, what has she been eating lately?!?! Oh wait, we were at a park with a basketball court for kids! Cute, huh? Alex could walk up to it and just drop a ball in.
Kali said she was NOT going to smile for me. Nope. No way. No how. Never.
That didn't last long!!
And that's what's up at the Knight house! I promise not to wait as long next time; maybe I"ll write a little more and have less pictures. Wow, what a concept! |

My husband, the produce shopper.
See what my man does early on a Sunday morning? He goes to the produce stand for us.
And see what I do? I make kitchen towels that match my mixer. I would say that I need a hobby, but that is one of them!
Don't have time for a longer update, but I just wanted to put up a few new pictures. |

Friday's Fun
So, every once in a while a rare opportunity come up for me to do something really fun without the little ones. Yeah, we're not talking grocery shopping here people! Nope. Not even a Starbuck's run, either. We're talking something crazy fun - without little kids. Well Friday was one of those days. You see, it all started with a mouse........oh, I mean, it all started with Mary. Seems as though her boyfriend had never been to Disney World. So she got tickets for them for Christmas. Well, someone had to drive them there, right? And that someone needed someone else to hang out with her, right? And that someone and her friend HAD to go to Disney World, too, right?!? Oh yeah, baby! Disney World - without little kids. That is quite the experience.
I love this Castle. I'd live in it if I could!
We had a wonderful day. I hear that Mary and her boyfriend had a blast, too. We only saw them once during the day. My goal was to NOT see them, since we weren't there with them, we just happened to be wasting the day away, waiting to drive them home. (And thank you, Raina, for driving. My head was bobbing in blissful sleep on the way home.)
I laughed my arse off on Space Mountain. The second time, I was even "gently persuaded" to sit in the very front. Holy hell. That was great. We hit lots of rides, ate lots of food, and watched tons of people go by.
Thunder Mountain is fun, too! I'm ready to go back. This place holds so many wonderful memories for me, that I instantly turn 12 when I go there. Thankfully I still have the energy of a 12 year old (most days) and we walked from 9:30 am until 11 pm.
It is quite magical, isn't it?
Come on, admit it.....you love it, too.
One more for the road. Enjoy.

Chef Hannah
Watch out Food Network, Hannah has arrived!!! She was in charge of dinner and dessert tonight. She made hamburgers, roasted potatoes, corn on the cob, and brownies. I think she needs to cook all of the time. She did the majority of the prep work except for the potatoes (I did that on my mandolin-thingy) and the onions. She made the brownies from scratch, formed the burgers after mixing in all the seasonings, and seasoned and mixed the potatoes, too, before they went in the oven. I cooked the burgers; figured I'd save her from burning her fingers. Dinner was wonderful and she was oh-so very proud of herself. Here's a bunch of pictures of Chef Hannah:
Melting the chocolate and the butter together.
Looks yummy, doesn't it?
Well, it wasn't. :) Chocolate without sugar taste like cr*p. This is Hannah's "taste like garbage" face.
Kali was desperate for water after she found out how awful chocolate is without sugar. Hey, nothing like a science lesson during cooking, right? That would be Brownies ala Alton Brown then, wouldn't it?
Mixing in the eggs and sugar. And flour.
And finally getting it into the pan. Mmmmm....smelled delicious here.
Impatiently waiting for them to be done!!!! The house smelled lovely and Kali wanted to know "what is that delicious smell, mom?"
Done!!
Burgers in the skillet. No, no, no that's not grey lookin' meat there, that's some Bragg's (kinda like soy sauce) coloring the meat. Scared ya, didn't I?
Potatoes were in the oven. They didn't come out until they were good and crispy.
Time to eat! Yummy.
The proud chef. We inhaled dinner, and about 95% of the brownies.
And just for giggles, here's the bread I made today.
What is this, you ask? I was confused, too. Until I realized that it was cold. Really cold. And there was frost on my windows. Yes, this was FROST on the grass!!! (or dead, ugly grass) And there was ICE on my windshield!!! How did I know this? Because I had a 9 am dentist appointment and nearly froze while warming the car up. Holy cow. I am in Florida, right? Okay, I should mention that I did have the lanai doors open and a few windows open later on in the day.
Hope you all enjoyed Chef Hannah's day of cooking. She'll be making dinner again next week! Stayed tuned for the next episode of Hard Boiled Hannah! |

Do you know the muffin man?
Tomorrow is Hannah's 7th birthday. SEVEN! So I spent half the day baking for my birthday girl. It started out with a batch of chocolate cupcakes, moved on to a batch of raspberry cupcakes, and finished off with some pumpkin muffins. I'll frost the cupcakes tomorrow before we devour them.
I can't believe my girl is going to be seven! Where have the years gone? It's amazing how fast time goes by when you have kids. I'm amazed at what a great girl she has become, and how much fun she is to be with (when she's not driving me batty!) She's my foodie; what other 7 year old can taste something and tell you what ingredients are in it? Garlic? Onions? Chili peppers? Yeah, that's my girl. She prints recipes for me and tells me to make them for her. We share a newfound love for raw onions in our salad, too. Ahhhhhhhh..... She makes me want to scream at times, and yet she is the sweetest child. Homeschooling her has been stressful, but oh so very rewarding. She's inquisitive, super smart, and has the attention span of a ........ 7 year old! ha ha ha ha ha ha. She just started an ASL class last Friday and LOVES it! Yay!
We're headed off to Downtown Disney during the week to celebrate her birthday. We'll be spending a night at Pop Century (thank goodness for Florida resident discounts!) and she wants to have dinner at Planet Hollywood. I'm certain we'll all have lots of fun. Be ready for pictures soon.
Speaking of pictures, here's a few from my baking session today.

Mmmm.....yummy chocolate cupcakes

want a bite?

Raspberry cupcakes - fresh out of the oven.

pumpkin muffins......oh so very good!

Monday
Just a quick little Monday update. Alex is back home after another trip to Atlanta. He got safely home around 4am and scared the crap out of me! Nothing like waking up at 4am and seeing a large looming figure in your bedroom doorway!! Yikes.
FedEx showed up at my door on Saturday morning with some boxes from Grandpa's workshop. Mary finally has a frame for the print we got her for her birthday, the little ones got some bookshelves for their bedroom, and I now have a great recipe box that matches my coffee grinder. Here's some pictures of the bookshelves; I forgot to take pictures of the frame and box - I'll do that later!
Here's Kali's. Pinkalicious came with the shelf. ;) My girl is pinkalicious, isn't she?
Here's Hannah's! "Where The Wild Things Are" came with hers. She is a wild thing!
While daddy was gone, Kali drew him a picture.....
Cute, huh?
All done!
One week until Hannah's 7th birthday! Wow. I'm almost done with her birthday shirt. I've embroidered everything on it that I wanted to, so now I just have to sew it all together. How can it be that it's been 7 years since she was born? It's incredible how fast time is going.
Today we were studying turtles, snakes, and some other reptiles. I had Mary and Hannah slithering across the floor like snakes. Too bad I didn't get a picture of that; it was hysterical. We also started learning about Australia today and did some dot pictures like the aboriginals did thousands of years ago. Too bad they didn't have markers like we do. I forgot what we're cooking for our Australian food day, but I know it's not the kangaroo tail soup recipe that's in my book. Ewwwww. Poor Mr. Kangaroo! |

TGIF!
Ahhhhh.....Friday. The end of the week. The end of the school week. A reason to sleep late tomorrow morning. Okay, so there won't be any sleeping in, but it sounded good.
I took the girls to the zoo on Tuesday; that was fun! The weather is still unseasonably warm down here; it was 80 when we went. I think it may cool down into the upper 60's next week. Yay! Here's a few pictures from our day:
Hannah wanted to pull the wagon while Kali was in it. Fine. :) Gave me two free hands so I could take some pictures! Thank you, Hannah.
Gosh I just want to eat them up! Kali adores Hannah and would hug her all day long if she'd let her.
See! By the looks of it, Hannah has had enough.
Just a cute picture I got at the zoo. No animals, I know, but it was cute nonetheless.
On Wednesday we went back to Tampa (oy - the price of gas!!!). It was time to finally get Hannah's hair done again. We had put it off long enough, because the cost factor is big! It was beyond time to get it done and Hannah's much happier now. She sat in the chair for 3 1/2 hours! I don't think I could even do that without moaning and complaining.
Medusa #2 Before:

And Medusa #2 After:

This was the next morning. Okay, looking at this picture makes me realize why people look at us funny sometimes. She'll be 7 in two weeks. Seven. She's 4'6", wears a size 12 pants, 5.5/6 women's shoe, and is oh-so very cute. She does not look 7. That is, until she speaks, and then she sounds like she's 7 and that's why people look at me cross-eyed. Or at least that's why I think they look at us oddly.
Well, see, I've updated again! It might not be long and interesting, but it's an update!
Hope everyone enjoys their weekend. |

Muffin Tops
No no. Not the kind you get from wearing your jeans too tight. But the lovely, delicious, chocolate chip muffin tops that I made for the kids today. Kali loves muffins, but only the tops of them, so my mom gave me a muffin top pan at Christmas. Hey, what's not to love about a muffin top, right?!
Mmmm....can't you just smell it! Fresh out of the oven.
They're really delicious.
Kali kept running through the kitchen saying "gee, what smells so yummy, mommy?!" Yeah, like she couldn't see them on the rack, right? She was just buttering me up for one (or two).
Can I tell y'all that I'm FREEZING tonight. Freezing!!! This is Florida, people, and it's going to be 20 (or slightly lower) tonight. TWENTY!! What is that?! I swear I've been cold all day long. I made two loaves of bread and the muffin tops just to warm up the kitchen! Hmmmm...what am I going to bake tomorrow? Thankfully it will warm up again by Sunday and be a lovely 76. Now that I could take all year 'round!
Okay, two posts in two days. This is good. Let's see how long I can keep this up! |

Happy New Year!
Wow, 2008 huh? Wasn't it just yesterday that it was 2000? One of my goals for the new year (I don't call them resolutions - I break resolutions!) is to update this more frequently. At least this is a start.
Last night we let Hannah and Kali stay up late. Neither one of them made it to midnight; they were both out around 10:45. Kali insisted on going in her room to "lay down for just a little bit" and Hannah passed out on the couch.
Alex and Mary went to the Citrus Bowl today. It was a good game, but in the end the Gators lost. Oh well, they had good seats and a good time. I think they're at some sports bar in Orlando at the moment watching the Rose Bowl.
I have enjoyed the heck out of our school break! Technically we should all be doing school work this week; guess I better get on that tomorrow! Some days I'd like to clone myself so that I can have a longer break. Other days I'd like to send my kids off to school so I can have a huge break! No one ever said homeschooling was easy though, but the rewards are huge. Hmmmm...can I hold this over their heads when they're picking out my retirement home?????
Okay, I've got a few new pictures for y'all.
Medusa Before......

Medusa After!!!! Doesn't she look adorable?!

Here's a two ponytail shot from last night. Excuse the wet shirt, I had just finished her hair.

Here's one of Hannah from last night. They're begging me for more ice cream now, but I told them I had to finish this first!

The mess in here was making me twitch! Thankfully it no longer looks like this, and I am no longer twitching. At least they were having fun!

Well, that's my update for now. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and that you're all ready for a great new year. Hopefully ours will be financially better than last year!
Okay, better get that ice cream before they tie me up and eat the whole gallon. |

Yikes!
Goodness gracious, where has the time gone? It seems that I never have a free moment to update our little spot here. I figured I'd better post a quick update, even though I don't have pictures for y'all right now. I'll have those soon.
Happy Yule/Solstice/Hanukkah/Christmas/'insert your holiday here'. I had a naaaaaaaaaasty migraine yesterday and never did make the Solstice cookies that I wanted to. Thank goodness for Alex, not only did he make dinner, do the laundry and the dishes, but when I woke up from my pain-induced-stupor, he was making cookies with the kids. Oh yeah!! Now we just have to make cookies for Santa tomorrow.
My parents were here last week and we had such a wonderful time! The girls had that week off of school and they also have next week off. Heck, it's a vacation for mama, too!!!! I have lots of pictures from their visit that I'll put up soon.
Mary and Alex are going to the Capital One Bowl on New Year's Day. The little ones and I will watch it at home and look for them.
Tonight we're going to hop in the car, turn on the Christmas tunes, and check out everyone's Christmas lights. Some are nicer than others! What's your opinion about those huge inflatable lawn Christmas decorations? Yeah, me too.
Okay, that's it for my mini-update. I promise to get back on schedule once the holiday crazies are over with.
We hope you all enjoy whatever holiday you might celebrate. May you be safe, happy, and healthy! |

Where is the time going?!
Goodness gracious, wasn't it just October? Seriously. Once Halloween comes, the rest of the year flies by even faster.
Things are crazy over here at Casa de Knight. I swear my embroidery machine is going 24/7 lately; I'm working on Christmas gifts and other things. It's my yearly "Santa's Workshop" time! By January, I'll be hibernating like the bears. I did, however, take a break from gift making and do a towel for my kitchen today. Check it out......
Cute, isn't he?
Of course, then I got back to gift making stuff. This was the result of my efforts today......
Mmmm......Pumpkin Pecan Butter. It was yummy! Of course, when I did the labels, I forgot to put the pecan part on there. Oh well! If you get one from me, just know that there are pecans in there, too.
I'm looking forward to a week off of schooling next week! Probably more than the girls. Well, maybe not Mary.
Hannah's doing wonderfully in math. I realized that I need to give her her math lesson for the day, answer any questions, and then leave the room. She does much better when I'm not sitting there waiting for her to finish. Duh! We're "visiting" England now, but I've been terribly unimpressed with the last two lessons. Maybe I need a cultural break! Hopefully next week will do that for me.
Mary only has a few weeks left of her English class at PHCC. We'll go to register in a few weeks for the spring session; hopefully she can take a few more classes this time. And hopefully they won't be at night! What was she thinking???
Hopefully I'll update this a little more often than I have been lately. But tonight I'm worn out and want to sit on the couch with my handy-dandy remote. I'd read my book, but I'd probably fall asleep sitting up and that just wouldn't work. Plus I need to wait up for Mary; she's at work and getting a ride home tonight. |

A whole bunch of stuff!
Phew! We've been busy here lately. Of course, it is that time of year when thing seem to go in warp speed and if you blink, a week has gone by. Let me catch you all up with a bunch of pictures.......
Alex finally found a replacement van for our poor mini-van that bit the dust. Yep, another silver van. Seems as though that's the only color car we can ever have.
Cookies anyone?? Poor Alex was so stressed out from everything that's going on; he requested cookies to soothe his soul. They were really good.
Towels anyone? I'm on a towel kick lately. This was my first one. :) Hey, I'm old and may forget my name at any moment; this will help.
Another towel I did this morning.
And another.
The girls decorated their sugar skulls last night. Sure, they don't look like the regular sugar skulls that I'm familiar with, but they're equally as beautiful.
Daddy thought they were quite interesting.
They just made my hands turn pink! The girls thought this was hysterical. I just thought "gee, how can anyone take me seriously with a pink hand?"
Their finished skulls. We made some white chocolate skulls today that I told them they could eat on Thursday.
Thankfully (knock on wood) nothing else major has been going on. I finally got my dang energy back after all that oral surgery I had. Phew! For at least two weeks, I thought I was going to be a permanent fixture on the couch!
We're studying Scotland now. Hannah said "oh no! Not the country where the men wear skirts!" She's a funny one. If anyone has some good Scottish recipes, please let me know. The ones in our book don't seem very appitizing.
For those that celebrate, have a fun Halloween, Samhain, and/or Day of the Dead. For those that don't, enjoy your week! |

Wow!
Sorry I haven't updated anything in a long time. Things are a bit crazy around here lately and I'm hoping to catch a break soon!
I had some really 'fun' oral surgery last week. There's nothing more I like doing than having screws put in my jawbone. Seriously. If y'all are ever bored, go get a few screws put in! Hey, now when Alex says I have a screw loose, he could be right! Thankfully it wasn't as painful as I thought it would be; by the following morning I had given up on the Percoset and went to Excedrin. However, the antibiotics have drained the life force from me and I'm just a shell of a human now. Oh. My. Goodness. My energy level is zero. I hate medicine. Thankfully the periodontist thinks the same way and told me to toss the abx. today. He said I looked pale. Yeah, he should see me standing next to Alex! Hopefully I'll be less like a zombie in a few days.
I do need a ton more work done, but at least there's a light at the end of the dental tunnel. I may sell a kid, or a kidney, though to get it all done. Holy crap!
And........The mini-van has taken its last breath. There's so many things wrong with it that it's just not worth fixing any more. Especially since some of those things keep happening over and over again. Ack! Yeah, like we need to deal with this now, right?! Anyone have a mini-van or truck they want to sell - cheap?!
Ahhhhh.......thank goodness for laughter or I'd be bald and rocking in a corner. If someone had said "hey, in 2007 you're going to have a 70% drop in business, have a vehicle croak on you, and have a dental bill larger than you've ever seen in your life (among other lesser issues)" I would have laughed. At least we're all healthy and maintaining our sanity as well as possible. Hmmm...maybe I ought to save that Percoset!
The littles and I made some cupcakes today. Well, they ran in the kitchen to help, stood up on their chairs for about 5 minutes while we mixed everything up, and then took off to play. So I made cupcakes. Mary and I just frosted them and put some sprinkles on them. I thought I'd share them.....

They're really yummy!!! Shhhh.....I had two of them.

Can't you just smell them?!
Mmmmmm......yummmmmmmm
Enjoy! |

Conversations with Hannah
Oh that Hannah of mine. She's so incredibly 6. Really. Most times I think I'm going to end up in a straight jacket because of that girl. Of course, most times I can end up in a straight jacket without her. She's stubbon, moody, stubborn, moody, and did I mention stubborn and moody? She's a teenager stuck in a 6 year olds' body.
The other day she was talking to Mary and the conversation went something like this (I came in more than halfway through it):
M: Yeah Hannah, well, what color is blood? (I don't know why they were talking about color or blood!)
H: Red.
M: Blood is red once it's outside of your body, but what color is it before it hits oxygen? (Being all kinds of snarky thinking she got her this time)
H: BLUE!
Oh my. Poor Mary and I had no clue what to say to the girl. She got us this time, didn't she? Though I have no clue how she knew it was blue. Hmmm.....maybe she does learn a thing or two from me after all! ;)
I couldn't take it any more and pulled out the big box of Halloween decorations. Sure it's not October until tomorrow, but there's no penalty for decorating early, is there?! Here's a few pictures of our stuff.....

I love my little witch hats. It's supposed to be a candle holder, but the candles started smoking in there one time, so now it just sits on my counter.
My new addition. Found this cute thing at Michael's yesterday.
Watch out for spiders!!!!!
Yes, I am. All year 'round, too.
The little ones and I will make some more stuff to put around the house. I love Halloween! Mary has some orange lights up in her room and I have some around the serving bar in the kitchen.
Tomorrow we start our study of Italy! Daddy will help us out with that one since he lived there for a few years when he was a kid. If his short-term memory is anything like his long-term memory, it will be a very short lesson. |

Happy Mabon!!
Fall, huh? Okay, so it doesn't really feel like fall when it's 90 degrees outside! However, today was the autumn equinox, so we made it feel like fall as much as we could. Maybe I should go tape some yellow and red leaves to the trees.
I woke up a bit early to make some sunrise muffins for the girls.
They were oh-so very yummy. Hannah had 2 at breakfast, and another 1.5 with her lunch!
Then the littles and I made some apple pound cake.
That was good, too! Alex ate more than we did. Poor Mary is at work and missed out on all our fun today.
Then I got crazy and decided to make some "autumn harvest' stuffing to go with our chicken for dinner. Yeah, crazy. Lets just say that the autumn harvest stuffing was a culinary experiment that went wrong. Very, very wrong. ;) Oh well, you can't win 'em all!! Thank goodness for chicken and corn.
After dinner the kids took a bath and then came out and started making fall handprint wreaths with daddy.

I'll hang those up in the morning after they've dried.
In between our cooking fun and wreaths, we made a mess in the kitchen and the girls helped daddy outside.....
It was clean in the morning. I had it spotless - right before I started my cooking marathon. It's clean once again, thank goodness!
The girls had a blast riding with daddy.
We've decided that the fairies must live under the mushrooms, and then they come in through the girls' fairy doors late at night.

We had lots of fun today, and now I need some sleep! Well, I still need to put the sheets back on our bed, wait until Mary gets home from work, and then I can go to sleep. Hopefully soon the weather will cool off over here and it will really feel like fall. Tomorrow we're going to go to the zoo and the girls will wear their bathing suits so they can play in the water.
Happy Fall, y'all!! |
