May we all have the freedom to watch our blossoms grow

and then there were 5

I have not visited this site since March 2006.  Wow, time flies!!  I had chosen all4blossoms at the time of sign-in since we have 4 children and just knew we were done.  Ha!  How foolish to think I have any say in the future of our family.  We now have a 3 month old son to add to our blessings.  I am all done pretending to be in control.  I have again been humbled into trusting God's perfect plan.

This is only our second full year of homeschooling.  It is such a perfect fit for our family that it seems as if we have been doing this from the start.  Again - an awesome God at work in our lives!!  Unless God says otherwise, I am determined to see this through to the last of our children.  Even though my oldest daughter, 11, reminds me she will be done schooling at home before I even begin with my newest son.

My heart has changed much since my last visit here.  The Lord has given me some of the much-prayed- for patience.  I have also discovered some hobbies such as quilting and whole grain cooking.  Although I am starting to feel like someone out of Laura Ingalls Wilder's stories, I am also feeling more at peace with who I am.

Well, baby is fussing a bit, but I will hopefully return sometime before next March.

classical what? trivium huh?

I am beginning to understand the concept of classical education and the trivium (hope I spelled that right).  I am just not sure about how to work it for my oldest - 4th grader.  Do I continue doing the memorization until we get through it (ie: into 8th grade?).  I feel there have been so many steps missed up until this point through the public school.  I know some is better than none, yet I don't want to do this halfway.  Any thoughts on teaching multiple age children would be greatly appreciated!  In the meantime, I try to remember putting in an effort is half the battle.

jumpin right in

Here we are jumpin' right in - new to homeschool and new to blogging.  So far the experience has far exceeded my expectations.  It can be more exhausting than I anticipated, yet the rewards are ten-fold.  The key word to survival seems to be support, support, and more support.  I'd have to be a fool not to grab all I can, especially at this point of it.
