Update
Most recent update on Beth Horn!
------------------------------
May 19, 2007
We just talked to Beth's surgeon about half an hour ago and got some incredibly wonderful news.
He took out 8 lymph nodes and originally suspected that at least 5 or 6 of them would test positive for cancer. However, when the pathology report came back, only two of the 8 (including the original lymph node) tested positive. And, he also told us that the pathology report seemed to indicate that the cancer in those two nodes had not yet penetrated them and spread to areas outside those
two nodes.
He feels he was able to remove all of the cancer in Beth's body and now with the upcoming chemotherapy treatments, the prognosis looks very positive -- much different than it did earlier.
We are very thankful for this report and now that God has been at work keeping the cancer contained. We believe He has done this in direct answer to the thousands of people who have been praying for us. We want to give Him glory and we want to thank all who are standing with us in this trial.
We still have a long road ahead of us as the chemotherapy treatments will involve the strongest level of Chemotherapy Beth's system can tolerate, but we are heading into those treatments with a much brighter
picture than we originally were given.

How wonderful is that!! It all sounded sooo grim in the begining, obviously she is not out of the woods. But it sounded as if her family would almost certainly lose her. Now the news is so much more positive. Praise the Lord. He most certainly answers prayers. Please keep Praying!!!

Dear praying friends,
Words can't begin to express our thanks for the prayers that have been offered on our behalf by all of you. We were particularly strengthened and encouraged to know that many of you were gathered to pray Wednesday morning.
God is certainly at work and is doing great things in us, for us, and around us through all of this. We are certain that He is not wasting this cancer but is using it to bring about good in us and others, and to exalt His glory.
The surgery went as well as the surgeon could have hoped for. He was able to get the chemotherapy port inserted and he was able to remove the axillary lymph nodes. We are still waiting for the pathology report on the lymph nodes that were removed, and were cautioned about being overly optimistic as to the results. However, we have seen God answer so many different prayers and we are confident that He will work out His good and perfect will in our lives no matter which way the pathology reports come back.
The doctor wants to get Beth on her feet as quickly as possible so she can get into the chemotherapy treatments as soon as possible. He is hoping to see them start in about three weeks. This is a bit sooner than we had anticipated but we understand the need for urgency and so are praying to that end.
We have experienced so many evidences that God is ordering the steps and timing of these events in our lives. Beth and I have been burdened for the son of an elderly widow in our church who is unsaved and is in the last stages of cancer.
Beth and I visited him in the hospital on Monday of last week, and as Beth shared her story his heart melted. We invited both him and his wife out for a meal but he was just too weak to pull it off. He had to come back to the hospital yesterday for a transfusion. While Beth was in surgery, Pastor Keltner and I went and spent two hours with him. We had a chance to share the gospel with him. Those of you who know Ken, know how passionate he is about the gospel and God used him in a very special way to present the plan of salvation. Although he did not accept Christ on Wednesday, he did ask us to share the gospel with his wife later, which we intend to do.
Later in the afternoon, one of the nurses overheard Dr. Olson and I talking and asked if we were believers. She was not even supposed to work today and when she does work, she never is assigned to this part of the hospital. But, this morning she prayed that God would help her find a good church to start attending. She and her husband are Catholics but she is seeking to know God more intimately. Between her phone duties and other responsibilities we were able to share with her and at least leave a gospel witness in the form of a nice tract we had designed specifically for our church. She knew right where we were and promised to come to a service in the future.
I share all this to let you know that your prayers are accomplishing more than just a physical intercession for us personally. They are having a real and tangible impact on the souls of men in the great spiritual conflict with which we are all engaged. And, they are achieving great and mighty things!
Please continue to pray for these two individuals who need the Lord. Randy and his wife Penny, and then the nurse who is seeking, Tracee.
We are so thankful for all of your care and your prayers.
In Christ

Great Faithfulness Amid Trials
Not too many days ago, we where informed that our Head Pastor's Wife -Beth- found out that she had cancer on April 29. I am just amazed at how they have taken this trial as an opportunity to minister to not only our church family, but also to unbelievers.
I encourage you to follow this link and listen to Pastor Sam's Testimony. (Please start with the "Watch the entire brookside sermon") I am POSITIVE it will be a tremendous blessing to you, as it was to me and my family. Their faith is the kind of faith that you read about- the kind of faith that you rarely get to witness.
I am truly honored to attend this church- and I thank the Lord for leading us here.
PLEASE, PLEASE- keep Beth and her family in your prayers. She has so much more work to do here. Please pray that the Lord heal this Faithful Women, Mother, Wife, Daughter, Sister, and Friend to so many.
Below you will find pictures of Beth and her family. (in order- The entire Family (Picture is about 3 years old), Beth Horn, Sam Horn, Ashton, and RD).

Prayers are desperately needed.
My heart aches for Heather, a fellow christian homeschooling mother, diagnosed with a brain tumor. I can only imagine having to face something like that- Obviously the Lord is ultimately in control. But the thought of possibly having to say goodbye to your kids while they are still so little and need mommy so badly just makes me well up.
Many are reaching out offering support for this dear women and her family- Financial and spiritual (prayers are desperately needed!).
Please join Boomama at the huge internet rally for Heather tomorrow. There will be a button where anyone can donate through paypal. Even one dollar is helpful.
As an incentive, I Should Be Folding Laundry, is giving away tons of prizes to those who blog and link to Boomama's rally for Heather, and put a button on their blog. Check out I should be folding laundry, post an entry, and then sign the Mr. Linky. And don't forget to join the rally for Heather!
Above all, don't forget to keep Heather in your daily prayers.

PLEASE Pray for this precious child
This is truely one of the toughest situtations I can imagine a parent having to be in. I am just dumbfounded that a commitee would have more say over a child's life then the own parents.
The baby, Emmie-Rose, was born at St. Joes but because of some issues with her development was transferred to U of M to the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit.
She has continued to have complications, but the latest developments are just awful. The bottom line is that since her last operation, the U of M Ethics Committee has decided that since they dont believe she has a chance of long term survival with a good quality of life, they are going to withhold feeding her and providing her with blood.
Not only that, but they have actively worked to keep the Yanellas from being able to get a transfer for Emmie-Rose to another facility that might be willing to treat her. Their biggest concern seems to be that she wont have an acceptable quality of life even if she were to survive her present crisis.
Despite their statement that Emmie-Rose would be gone within two days, she is still fighting for life.
You can read more about her story on her mother's blog- . This direct link will bring you to a page with pictures of the beautiful little angel. Her sad little eyes, and her parents happy faces just break my heart.
PLEASE PLEASE PRAY for this precious baby and her family!!!!!
