The Lady
Gabrielle is brilliant, beautiful, talented, sweet and good, yet marvellously humble. Haha... No. Let's try that again...
Gabrielle has a wicked sense of humour and far too much pride for her own good. She loves to write, and has spent a good portion of her life buried in books. She loves old English literature, anything Tolkien, and well-written humour.
She loves blogging, fanfiction, and spends a good portion of her day on her computer. Pretty active, she enjoys climbing, swimming, running, and sitting up trees, yet does not enjoy most ball sports.
At sixteen, she is still far more immature than she should be and enjoys the fact far too much, yet she can be serious at times and ponders deeply on many issues. She takes her faith very seriously, and strives to make becoming like her Lord her greatest wish.
She enjoys talking about herself in the third person.

Dol Amroth
Dol Amroth was a coastal city in South Gondor. Built on a hilltop overlooking the Bay of Belfalas and crowned by Tirith Aear - the seaward tower - it was the Jewel of the Southern coasts. The Princes of Dol Amroth were prominent in Gondor and ruled much of the land about Belfalas.

Dol Amroth was the home of both sailors and mounted knights, yet they were also renowned for their harpists. The people of Dol Amroth were of Numenorian decent, and also accounted to have had elvish blood - passed down from Mithrellas, one of Nimrodel of Lothlorien's handmaidens. They were tall, dark haired and grey eyed, and spoke, for the most part, Sindarin.

Prince Imrahil of Dol Amroth fought in the battle of the Pelennor Fields with many of his knights, and won renown for his deeds there, which included saving the life of his nephew, Faramir. Imrahil's sister, Finduilas, was the wife of Denethor, Steward of Gondor, and the mother of Boromir and Faramir. Imrahil's daughter, Lothiriel, later married King Eomer of Rohan.

Apr. 12, 2008 - Award Bonanza!
Well, I have some house keeping to do. Not that it isn't fun housekeeping, but I've been putting it off for far too long. Writer4Him awarded me the Excellent Blog award about... I don't know, a month ago? yet I was entirely perplexed as to who to give it to, as those who I thought deserved it already had it. But I guess they can recieve it twice, can't they?
I also have the Blog Friend Forever award from Tinuviel to give out. How I thought I'd work this is like so:
Any of my good friends with really beautiful blogs will recieve the Excellent Blog award;
Those who I appreciate as a friend but have - frankly - ugly blogs will recieve the Blog Friend Forever award;
And those who I do not think much of but have such beautiful blogs they can not be passed over will receive the Excellent Blog award.
Sounds good?
No, I'm kidding... Ignore all that.
First up, the Blog Friend Forever award. These are a few bloggers who have become very close to me in my time here, and have really become a valuable part of my life. The imput of these bloggers has been fantastic, however many miles separate us. These guys are real friends.
Writer4him - Not only is this blogger an fantastic writer and Christian, she has a love of debating, and skill at it, to rival mine. Together, we make an incredible pair; we can both digitally talk, argue, and build each other up for hours on end. She also has an excellent blog, with a great combination of fun posts, thinker posts and assorted writings, which can keep one entertained, amused and challenged for hours.
PoeticMaiden - A rather recent friend, but one to whom I am already becoming very close. We have had some fantastic discussions on a whole lot of issues. A great Christian, she's challenged and inspired me many a time. Not only this, but a fantastic poetess, who continues to regularly produce beautiful peices for her readers.
totustuus - Although she has not been around much lately, she is a great friend. She has a lot of wisdom and maturity, and valuable insights in a lot of things. Her posts are thoughtful and inspiring, yet she isn't above having fun!
I would like to say NimrodelTinuviel, but since they were the ones giving the award I'm not really allowed. Oh well, they already have the Excellent Blog award, so there isn't much use in giving them, another one. =P Besides, it's really too ugly to be an Excellent blog... hehe, don't listen to me, it's beautiful. Anyway. They're both fantastic girls. I have got to know Tinuviel especially well, and have discovered that we are really incredibly alike in so many ways. She can be both fun and serious, likes to randomly quote almost as much as I do, as is a HTML whizz. hat more could one ask in a friend? ;)
Now, as for the Excellent Blog award - well, many of the people I've already awarded deserve an Excellent blog award and vise versa. Yet here are some blogs I really enjoying reading:
DonnaElisabeth - She's a very new blogger here, yet her blog is already showing promise of being counted amoung the greats. :) She's a writer, a poetess, a thinker and an inspiration.
Kate - Her new blog - In New Life - is not only beautiful but a great read. She has a lot of talent and her writings are great fun to read. Not only that, but she brings up a lot of great issues; again, a great source of inspiration
MisterCool - It you want entertainment, look no futher. Mister Cool can make an account of the most boring day sound funny, and his posts are endlessly clever, weird and hilarious.
TheSAYR - This is an excellent blog. It's the Society of Avid Young Readers, and I'd highly recommend that you check it out. I have actually not yet participated in one of the book readings as they've all come at the wrong times or I have not been able to get the book, yet the discusions are fantastic!
Cheers for some great bloggers! |

Btw, I did check out your brother's blog, and it is rather scary. *laughs* The world needs more unique people like that.

*makes a grand entrance*
Now is the hour for my long-awaited comment! Prepare yourself, my friend, for a lengthy tirade of historical, political, and...er...debatable (!) content!
But first of all: thank you so much for the award--I am so honored! I look forward to passing this on...and congratulations on receiving it yourself!
Yes, I made my little sister cry *smiles happily*. Afterwards she related the sad tale to my mother, her eyes tearing the entire time...we were all dying of laughter, poor child. I also enjoy getting a few sniffles out of my mother ;-). I mean, when a scene is supposed to be sad, you WANT your readers to get emotional! That is terribly funny, however, to write a story with the distinct purpose of getting your poor mother to cry. And while I'm on the subject of family--might I ask how many siblings you have? You've mentioned a sister...and of course there's your brother...are there any more of you?
Well, thank you again for your compliments--you have hit my character spot-on (which is pretty good, seeing that I don't know that much about him myself!). Ah, and you also have discerned enough about him to find the logical fallacy in the very first paragraph *sigh*...I discovered it only after I had gotten into the story, and have yet to back and change it!
Before this gets any longer, I really ought to address the most exciting issue :-). I have already bragged to my southern friend about discussing the Civil War with such an unbiased person as yourself--it really is quiet a change, since the only people I get to talk about it with are...well, about as biased as you can get (in the north people don't have such strong feelings, but in the south people still fly the Stars and Bars...it's quite unsettling, actually!). And you've been to the Abraham Lincoln museum?? How lovely! I would thoroughly enjoy a visit there.
You are correct about the economical situations of the time--they were strained, naturally, since the south had not yet moved on from slave labor and plantations and all, and had no desire to. The south wanted to be left alone, but unfortunately the rest of the states disagreed, and various restrictions were placed on slavery during the first half of the 19th century. It's incredibly interesting to look at a time line of the events leading up to the Civil War--take note of those involving slavery. You'll see a few at first, and then they increase very rapidly until the war. Very, very interesting.
I would say that the two main issues (not to say the only issues) that sparked the war were slavery and states' rights. Southerners maintain it was mostly states' rights; but in reality, if you take a good look at it, the reason the southern states wanted states' rights was so that the control slave laws within their own borders. Slavery was the root issue, and states' rights was the criterion for accomplishing the southerners' goal.
Also, you have to make allowance for the differences between the reason for the war, and the reason soldiers fought. They could be (and in most cases were) entirely different. The south fought for states' rights; the north fought to preserve the Union--for the most part, although there were many abolitionists. You are perfectly right about the slavery becoming a scapegoat. It is likely that Lincoln emancipated the slaves (and only the Southern slaves) in order to draw the aid of other countries who might have otherwise fought for the south, until it was made public that the war was over slavery. It was an interesting strategy indeed :-).
Another interesting speculation is whether the war would have happened at all, had slavery been dealt with when the constitution was written. I believe it wouldn't have come about; the economical problems would not have existed, and the south would have had little reason to secede. If this is the case, and the removal of slavery would have prevented the war, then we are left with the logical assumption that slavery was one of the leading causes for the war. You can pretty much trace every other issue back to it.
*takes a deep breath* Well, I'm afraid that was disjointed and choppy...but perhaps you understood some of it? You must understand that you are entitled to hold to your own viewpoint--if you ever move to the south, it'll come in handy ;-).
Lord of the Beans!! What was it you said about Elvish instructions for opening a coconut?? How hilariously interesting! Ha, I'm afraid I probably miss some of the subtle allusions to LOTR, being more a fan of the movies than the books *ducks to avoid flying tomatoes*. But yes, the eagle...you know, I've wondered that same thing myself! Come on, Gandalf...he ought to have been smart enough for that, don't you think? Or maybe it was all a conspiracy so he could earn the status of a White Wizard.... ;-)
I would be quite happy to join you in NZ in order to enjoy your lovely new laptop. However, a lack of funds and presence of debt is rather restricting, and therefore I shall be forced to postpone my flight. Besides, I hate airplanes...*shudder* Perhaps you could post pictures? You know, I would be absolutely thrilled to see a picture of you, if you are comfortable with it. If all else fails, you could dazzle us with pictures of the adored laptop :-D.
I believe this is the longest comment I have ever written. Congratulations! Or maybe I should say...good luck? I sincerely hope you can dig your way through the enormous thing...and for your benefit, I shall end it here.
Fare thee well!
