Feb. 11, 2009 - Musings on my muse
I have news! At last my muse has come back!
This is quite something, since I have been doing all my writing without a muse for the last two years at least. He says he only left because he couldn't bear to visit America, especially in the heat of summer, but the fact is that he had been spending an awful lot of time wandering off alone for long periods before that, who knows where. He still won't tell me where he's been all this time.
He says he came back because of NaNo, because he said that even right across the Cook Straight (Aha, a clue!) he could feel the panic and hysteria and urge to write coupled with crippling overtiredness, and the whole blast of it all nearly killed him. I can't say I'm particularly apologetic about that seeing as it was his own fault anyway, but he's returned to make sure that I never ever do it again, and I'm going to be sure to make him stay so that I don't need to.
Unfortunately, he hates me. Partly because I am lazy and hardly ever write what he wants me to, partly because I'm not skilled enough to give his dramatic stories the brilliance and polish he thinks they deserve, partly because I don't give him the respect he thinks he deserves and partly because he has no sense of humour at all and hates me writing it and absolutely loathes me putting any humour into HIS stories that HE came up with and so kindly allowed me to type down for him...
*rolls eyes*
He hasn't even told me his name yet, and he's currently hiding away in my bedroom cupboard angsting to himself, and is only sticking around at all because I've agreed to postpone my new work and write something tragic and angsty. It's a jolly pain, since I was really inspired for this story, but much as he denies it I DO value his input, and if another angsty one-shot'll make him happy... well, so be it. I haven't exercised my angsty side for a long time, and he's right about it getting rusty.
So, while I am not doing much steady writing or FM, my writing is going somewhere! And I'm slowly but surely exercising my muse back into shape, too.
So perhaps I'll post some of it here sometime?
Speaking of which, I have a question. Could you guys tell me what you think is the overall theme to Cinderella?

*giggles at being specifically mentioned, and is flattered*
*hugs Gaby*
First of all, yay! A post! *loves when her friends post*
And now for Cinderella:
I like the story, a poor peasant girl, still loved by a prince, even though she is poor, but I hate the way they "fall in love" in just one night! Not only is it sooo unrealistic, it's not as SWEET as when it takes them a while to love each other.
You should really watch the movie Ever After with Drew Barrymore It's the best take on Cinderella I've ever seen. I just love it!

You posted again! I can't believe my eyes! ;-)
Threaten to name your muse if he won't tell you his name. That might work. I wouldn't know, since I do not have a muse of my own. No mortal or immortal being could ever put up with my writing or lack of it. ;-P
Cinderella... the Disney movie? The Rogers/Hammerstein movie? The story in general? I know the theme of the Disney version is 'follow your heart'. Isn't that the theme of almost all Disney stuff? Lol. The regular story... um... I have no idea. It's a fairy tale. Does it have to have a theme? *wink*
Love ya!

Hmm.... what's a muse? Is it an alternative to mouse? Yeah that sounds about right. No, but seriously, what is it? Can I have one?
Cinderella? I don't even remember what it's about. I heard it just came out in platinum. (Don't ask how I know.) Once Upon a Dream is the only thing I can associate it with. Oohh, have you heard Hero in Me? I don't really like it very much though.
Anyway, I'm way off subject.
Cinderella's theme. I KNOW! ---Musical mice.
"Cinderellie" I remember that much.

Thanks yous for zee comment! I still love long comments...did I say that last one...?
No, dear Cherise had not yet invited me to be part of your Writing Challenges...and what exactly are they? I know you have a little group: Mari, you, Cherise, Tinuviel, Beth, Heather...Pip...and perhaps me? But of course, only if you want me.
Yah, I'se is sorta leanin' towards getting a seperate blog, 'cause I wouldn't just be posting my story(s), but everything about writing that comes up in my life! We have a lot to do with writing in school, and we have some fun activities...that I might like to share..
Please tell your muse that my dear gnome, Danny, now hates him for hating you. Danny loves people, especially writers, and most muses he can't stand. However, my muse, Sharax, is very sweet and she, Danny and I all get along famously. Not to brag by any means.
*snickers*
Then again, Sharax is currently very frustrated with me, because I don't always write when I should and could, and lately, when I do, I only write a few hundred words..uh oh...looks like she raided the fridge...we should keep a deadbolt on it...HELP!!! Now she's pelting me with apples, oranges, and bananas, oh my! One moment...
*runs out of room screaming, beats Sharax up, puts deadbolt on fridge, and runs back*
*pants wildly*
Sorry, that muse...she had run away for a couple weeks, and this is the first I've seen of her for a long time...but I have a feeling she won't come out 'till Wednesday, when Cherise is coming over to help me drag her out of the closet and chain her to my brain again..
I'm awful sorry I've taken up so much of your precious time which you should be using to write...by the way, could I call you Altari? *blushes*
I've already taken to calling people their online nicknames, and I don't even know them yet! *screams*
And I'm glad you like my blog...I still need that template..

Oh, hurrah for a brilliant post, Gabrielle! Forgive me for not commenting sooner, especially since you left such a beautifully long comment on my own blog!
I am glad that your muse is back, and now I do finally understand why you're not doing FM, and I forgive you. FM is not worth scaring your flighty muse away again. (I had begun to think it scared my muse away too, but she came back just yesterday, and now I'm going along splendidly again.)
Anyhow, I do think the idea of another angsty one-shot is BRILLIANT!!!! (Forgive the outburst.) I absolutely adored Tears (your Tears, not mine), and something like that would be just fabulous!!!!! *is excited*
Oh, and Gabrielle, I need you to send me your email address, because I've started a new website on Wetpaint for our group, and I need to send you an invite, because you can't join unless I send you one! You can check out the website first (it's super awesome!): it's at www.homeschoolingteenauthors.wetpaint.com. Visit, and tell me what you think!!! If you feel so inclined, please send me a PM with your email so I can let you in!
Do forgive this pitifully short comment - I fear I am encroaching upon my writing time, and my muse is threatening to go on strike....
Love you!!

As far as the theme of Cinderella goes, Gaby - I think the point of the story is that anything can happen to anybody. That's all I can come up with, anyway.

The Lady
Gabrielle is brilliant, beautiful, talented, sweet and good, yet marvellously humble. Haha... No. Let's try that again...
Gabrielle has a wicked sense of humour and far too much pride for her own good. She loves to write, and has spent a good portion of her life buried in books. She loves old English literature, anything Tolkien, and well-written humour.
She loves blogging, fanfiction, and spends a good portion of her day on her computer. Pretty active, she enjoys climbing, swimming, running, and sitting up trees, yet does not enjoy most ball sports.
At sixteen, she is still far more immature than she should be and enjoys the fact far too much, yet she can be serious at times and ponders deeply on many issues. She takes her faith very seriously, and strives to make becoming like her Lord her greatest wish.
She enjoys talking about herself in the third person.
Dol Amroth
Dol Amroth was a coastal city in South Gondor. Built on a hilltop overlooking the Bay of Belfalas and crowned by Tirith Aear - the seaward tower - it was the Jewel of the Southern coasts. The Princes of Dol Amroth were prominent in Gondor and ruled much of the land about Belfalas.

Dol Amroth was the home of both sailors and mounted knights, yet they were also renowned for their harpists. The people of Dol Amroth were of Numenorian decent, and also accounted to have had elvish blood - passed down from Mithrellas, one of Nimrodel of Lothlorien's handmaidens. They were tall, dark haired and grey eyed, and spoke, for the most part, Sindarin.

Prince Imrahil of Dol Amroth fought in the battle of the Pelennor Fields with many of his knights, and won renown for his deeds there, which included saving the life of his nephew, Faramir. Imrahil's sister, Finduilas, was the wife of Denethor, Steward of Gondor, and the mother of Boromir and Faramir. Imrahil's daughter, Lothiriel, later married King Eomer of Rohan.
