Whats going on this week....

Posted in List, List, List.....

.......at our house? I think today is the only day I wil be home, not having to go any where. So I'm trying to get somethings done, including the list of things I was suppose to do last week, but with driving my dd-18 around and procrastinating (you would think I would know how to spell this), things didn't get done.

  • Tuseday: gym, library, post office,  clean the church building, stamping party in the evening
  • Wednesday: evening Bible class
  • Thursday: going to see a play in the morning, then go to piano lessons, do a quick clean up at the church building, then go to a Beginning Scrollsaw Class in the evening
  • Friday: Homeschool meeting that I lead, if I didn't have time to do the building Thursday then I will do it today, shopping (only for a few items thought, trying to use what we have in the house), and then Bible class in the evening.
  • Saturday: going to a wedding and reception. will be an all afternoon/evening thing.

My main goal this week would to just get my house presentable.

Busy week ahead....

Posted in List, List, List.....

I have a lot of stuff to do this week and a few places to go. On Tuesday we have gym, a mom and dad has set up time at the local rec hall for planned activities. It has worked out really well. I also try to do errands on that day also: library, bank, post office, daughter wants to skate at lake, and visit a member from our church. On Thursday we piano lesson, and if I need to I will stop at Aldi's, maybe the library again for more books, and then pay a few bills. I also need to drop off some cards to the consignment store. On Friday, we are going to a homeschool family's home along with 5 other families to have a cooking day. The kids will be making a whole menu for us to eat for lunch. We also have Bible classes on Wednesday and Friday evening.

Here is my to-do list this week. This is more for me than anyone else, I just want to see how much I can get crossed off by the end of the week.

  • Homeschool Newsletter
  • find patriotic music for our spring play and download it. (I don't know how to do this)
  • a letter to all homeschool member explaining about a co-op that we are in the plans of running this next year.
  • make 20 cards for the consignment store (got 10 done)
  • make my "Pay it Forward" and send them out. (almost done)
  • go online and order library books for science fair project
  • get bills paid and checkbook balanced
  • do questions for Sundays lesson
  • print off timeline for Wednesday Bible class
  • Inventory freezers
  • make granola
  • cut Blossoms (this is what dd-7 has decided to be called) bangs (hopefully straight)
  • wrap wedding gift and make card for it.

Of couse I need to keep up on school this week. I need to plan out our schedule for our science fair project this week so we are not trying to scramble the last week. We have six weeks and counting.

My Cleaning and Cooking Plan for May....

Posted in List, List, List.....

I have been reading so many blogs on other getting into spring cleaning. Everyone has their own ideas on how to go about it. Some do different task each day, some are doing a 15 minute cleaning seasion so many times a day. I'm going to tackle one room or area a day for the next 4 weeks. This is how I divided it up. Some areas will take longer than others. If this works, I think I will just continue with this plan every month, it will help me keep up, and each month it would be easier and easier because I wouldn't have so much junk.

Deep Cleaning Schedule:

Week 1:                                                               Week 2:

M- Phone Area                                                   M- Upstairs Bath-done

T- Dinning Room done                                    T- Hall Closet -done

W- Kitchen -done                                             W- M.Room/Bath

TH- Living Room done                                  TH- Elise’s Room done

F- Landings-done                                            F- Office/School Room

  Week 3:                                                                   Week4:

M-Downstairs Bath done                                       M- Piano Area

T- Laundry Area done                                            T- Basement Closet

W- Storage Area                                                     W- T.V. Area

TH- Hocky Table Areadone                                 TH- Garage

F- Guest/Computer Room                                   F- Garage

I also like to do alot of freezer meals. I use to get together with a friend and cook one day for the month. We are not able to do that anymore, but I still like being able to pull things out of the freezer for dinner on those rush days. So I am going to take one kind of meat and do several meals with that meat that week to put into the freezer.

Freezer/Cooking Schedule:

Week 1: Beef- done

Week 2: Porkdone

Week 3: Chicken

Week 4: Bakingdone

Update: because I'm not very good at following plans, it's just too fine a line for me, as I get things done this month I will come back and mark it done. Hopefully as the month progresses, so will I , and eventually on schedule.

Update June 1: I'm just going to continue till next week when my sil/bil come to visit. Hoping I will have it all done by then.   At any rate, it was a good start and plan, something I didn't have before or did before. I will probably do it again during the last half of June/ first part of July.

ABC's of Homemaking

Posted in List, List, List.....

Aprons – Y/N? If Y, what does your favorite look like?
I'm in the process of making matching aprons for 6 year old and self.

Baking – Favorite thing to bake
Bread. I cheat though, I buy the dough frozen from the store. Then before I go to bed I set a loaf in the pan to thaw and rise so I can bake it first thing in the morning.

Clothesline – Y/N?
No

Donuts – Have you ever made them?
No,

Every day – One homemaking thing you do every day
Every day, we're suppose to do something every day? Why didn't someone tell me. That would explain so much about why things never seem to get done around here.

Freezer – Do you have a separate deep freeze?
I have an upright in the basement, and a chest in the garage we just got last summer. I freeze alot of veggies.

Garbage Disposal – Y/N?
No

Handbook – What is your favorite homemaking resource?
My friend Connie, she knows everything.

Ironing – Love it or hate it? Or hate it but love the results?
Hate it. I've put my iron away. If it's wrinkled, spray it with water and put it in the dryer.

Junk drawer – Y/N? Where is it?

Yes, in every room

Kitchen – Color and decorating scheme

cranberry, forest green, navy blue

Love – What is your favorite part of homemaking?
When it's all done. It makes my hubby wonder wheather we're having company or not.

Mop – Y/N?
Do I use a mop? or Do I mop?

Nylons – Wash by hand or in the washing machine?
Washing machine

Oven – Do you use the window or open the oven to check?
Open

Pizza – What do you put on yours?
Pepperoni, red onions, and green peppers

Quiet – What do you do during the day when you get a quiet moment?
Blog, read, veg out. Be thankful there is a quiet moment.

Recipe card box – Y/N? What does it look like?

No, I use a binder.

Style of house – What style is your house?
Bi-level, beige with white trim

Tablecloths and napkins – Y/N?

No

Under the kitchen sink – Organized or toxic wasteland?

Toxic wasteland

Vacuum – How many times per week?

2-3 times per week.

Wash – How many loads of laundry do you do per week?
I wash probably 7 or 8 loads, but that doesn't include my teenagers, they do their own.

X’s – Do you keep a daily list of things to do that you cross off?
I love list, it helps me to see that yes, I did do things during the day, even if it doesn't look like it.

Yard – Y/N? Who does what?

I do the mowing, It's my quiet time.

Zzz’s – Huh?, Oh, Goodnight!!!
