One Year Adventure Novel – Clear Water Press

Looking for a writing curriculum for your high schooler? Trying to find a way to inspire your older students to actually do their writing assignments? Or maybe you’ve always wanted to write a novel but didn’t know where to start. Here is the solution…

One Year Adventure Novel (OYAN) sold by Clear Water Press is a program developed for student’s grades 8-12 and, as the title indicates, inspires and instructs them how to write a novel in one year. There are a total of 78 lessons on 7 DVD’s, plus quizzes, textbook, workbook, teachers guide, a bonus disk, and much more, including the opportunity to have the book published on the OYAN website. The program is taught (narrated) by award-winning novelist Daniel Schwabauer. OYAN guides “beginning authors step-by-step through a process that ends with the creation of an original, fully structured adventure.” The difference with OYAN and other writing programs is that is teaches the “exploration of Story” rather than just the mechanics of writing. It’s a fun, step-by-step process that takes the student on a journey filled with excitement and anticipation of discovering the next element of her own story.

The inspiration for creativity is elicited simply by listening to Mr. Schwabauer. I was instantly motivated to sit down and get started with every lesson I heard. I know that this course is for students, but I want to express to you how easy it is to listen, learn, and be motivated, even as a parent.

My daughter is pretty creative and her imagination sometimes leads her to lose focus on her schoolwork. However, getting her to write the ideas down has not been easy.  She would rather just verbalize them or act them out.  This course has guided her and enabled her to break free from her blankpaperitis. I know it’s not a real word, but I couldn’t think of a better way to say it.  It  lessreally was like a disease that caused her to be unable to write words on the paper. That is now over. Once she started writing, she realized how much she liked it. And, though we’ve only had the program for a short time, she will continue with theons and complete her novel.  I couldn’t be more thrilled with her change in attitude.

This is an awesome program and definitely worth considering for your homeschool family. I believe even non-homeschoolers will enjoy this. It’s interesting, fun, and can even be used as an English Credit.

It is priced at $199 (with free shipping!) You can buy it here.

You can also receive a FREE DVD or view SAMPLE LESSONS, too.  Soon it will be time to purchase next year’s curriculum and this is unquestionably one to be considered.
