The Beautiful Blessings of Home

Sep. 5, 2006 - My Cleaning Schedule

I have always been very particular about wanting my house clean. The key word is "wanting". No matter how bad I "wanted" my house clean I could never seem to accomplish it. When I would start cleaning in the morning I would get carried away and keep cleaning, I have the habit of when I start cleaning I have to clean every little thing before I stop, so ......lunch, oh you mean I have to feed my kids....school work, oh yeah forgot about that, he he. Then I would go to the other extreme, since I wasn't going to be able to get ALL done why even bother starting (besides the necessary basics, of course). So thanks to some wonderful ideas from Candy over at www.keepingthehome.com I came up with a cleaning schedule. Whew!!! This has definately made things easier. I know what I need to get done each day to keep my house clean and I know when to stop (because I know that it is eventually going to get done because it is on my handy dandy schedule). So here it is. Now I know this type of cleaning schedule does not work for everybody, but this is what works for me. Maybe you can get some ideas from it. I also keep on hand Candy's "Three week cleaning plan" and her "Emergency quick clean" I don't have the direct links to these off hand but if you go to her  site you should be able to find them quickly.

You have a great cleaning plan there! :-) Right now I'm, of course, on my three week cleaning plan. Yesterday I did my stove top, and today I did the rest of my appliances, including the washer and drier.

When we have a cleaning plan that we like, it certainly makes cleaning a joy, doesn't it? :-)

Wow! What a list! It is good that you found a way to balance your desire for a clean home and getting it done along with everything else.

My kids have reached an age where we have instituted chore jars. I have broken our chores down into 14 things I want done each week. Each day they are here, they each draw one and then I teach them how to do their chore and while they do it, I do something else like clean a light fixture in that room or clean out a drawer. It has worked great. I know my house is getting cleaned every week or two, they are helping and learning and I am less stressed:)

Thanks for your comment on my blog.
Thanks for the house cleaning schedule. That will be very helpful. Maintaining a clean house is hard for me. I like the diea of focusing on one room a day, so i don;t get overwhelmed with it all.

I have such a struggle with housekeeping! You have encouraged me to keep trying to work that schedule.

A site that has really been helpful to me is www.messiesanonymous.com. I have read Sandra Felton's book and I appreciate all the supportive help her site gives. (e-groups, reminder e-mails, etc.)

Thanks again for sharing!
