Amazed!!!
Nov. 2, 2008
Week 10, 10/27-10/31/2008
We finished up yet another great week. We are really enjoying all the books so far. We have always loved our SL books but this year they seem to be exceedingly good.
We continue to be impressed with the Bible study guide, Starting Strong. We discussed the reality of "losing" friends, either because they move or you move. We focused on verses showing us that Jesus is the our real forever friend.
We finished reading Lincoln's Photobiography, and honestly, I struggled not to cry when reading about his assassination. What a truly remarkable man and magnificent president! We learned so many things about this man, stuff that I had not known about, even though I thought my knowledge of the Civil War was decent.
K and I also finished Across Five Aprils, another excellent read. A and I started Shades of Gray and K read it on her own as a reader. A is reading Henry and Ribsy for her reader. She is doing so much better with comprehension.
K moved forward in her math, while A took a review week. L began her 2nd week of first grade math and is doing fine. She also continued to do well with her Mindbenders.
We read about amphibians and reptiles for science. I don't think we have any experiments for a while.
The girls also enjoyed going to a local church's Fallfest.
K dressed as the Queen of the Night from The Magic Flute.

A. dressed up as Mrs. Claus.

L. went as Snow White (yes--this was a recycled costume from a previous dance performance. in fact, all their Fallfest costumes were dance recital costumes in a former life LOL).

And FQ went as "camouflage boy". LOL

Love and peace and please vote this Tuesday!!!

| You Are a Mac |
You are creative, stylish, and super trendy.
You demand the best - even if it costs an arm and a leg. |
|
| You Are Austin |
A little bit country, a little bit rock and roll.
You're totally weird and very proud of it.
Artistic and freaky, you still seem to fit in... in your own strange way.
Famous Austin residents: Lance Armstrong, Sandra Bullock, Andy Roddick |
| You Belong in Paris |
You enjoy all that life has to offer, and you can appreciate the fine tastes and sites of Paris.
You're the perfect person to wander the streets of Paris aimlessly, enjoying architecture and a crepe. |
| What Your Pizza Reveals |
Your appetite is pretty average. You don't go overboard - but you don't deprive yourself either.
You aren't particularly picky about pizza. It's so good... how could you be? You fit in best in the Western part of the US.
Your taste in food tends to favor what's rich and comforting. You prefer food that will definitely satisfy you.
You are eclectic, stylish, and totally random with your choices.
You are deep and thoughtful. You should consider traveling to Paris.
The stereotype that best fits you is guy or girl next door. Hey, there's nothing wrong with being average. |
