Week 11, Nov 3-7

Posted in General
We enjoyed this week.  In history, we moved cleaned up some details about the Civil War and the aftermath.  We are not doing Starting Strong for the next few weeks, it seems.  It is sad to be missing the Bible study, but I looked ahead and we pick it up later.  We started memorizing Ps 119 this week as well.

K. finished up Shades of Gray as her reader, and I read it aloud to A.  We are enjoying the book.  The characters are very strong and again, we appreciate the point of view of a Southerner.  We started Caddie Woodlawn as K's read aloud and so far we are enjoying it.  I was worried because I never got into the Little House on the Prairie books but this book is nothing like those books!  A. finished up Henry and Ribsy and started Encyclopedia Brown, Boy Detective for her reader this week.  She is enjoying it, as she loves mysteries.  L. continues to enjoy her readings from the PreK 4/5 program.

In science, we finished up our unit on amphibians.  We will start learning about oceans next week.

The girls are all chugging along with language arts and math.  K. is learning a lot of grammar from Grammar Ace and is doing much better with Spelling Power.  A. is doing well with her LA though she still struggles a bit with comprehension.  I am considering repeating some of these books next year.  She is doing much better with the writing assignments.  L. is doing amazingly well.  She is doing the reader schedule for the Core 2 Regular readers program and is really doing well.  She does spelling words from LA 1 and is flying the Explode the Code book 3.  All 3 girls are doing fine with Math U See.

You Are a Mac
You are creative, stylish, and super trendy. You demand the best - even if it costs an arm and a leg.
You Are Austin
A little bit country, a little bit rock and roll. You're totally weird and very proud of it. Artistic and freaky, you still seem to fit in... in your own strange way. Famous Austin residents: Lance Armstrong, Sandra Bullock, Andy Roddick
You Belong in Paris
You enjoy all that life has to offer, and you can appreciate the fine tastes and sites of Paris. You're the perfect person to wander the streets of Paris aimlessly, enjoying architecture and a crepe.
What Your Pizza Reveals
Your appetite is pretty average. You don't go overboard - but you don't deprive yourself either. You aren't particularly picky about pizza. It's so good... how could you be? You fit in best in the Western part of the US. Your taste in food tends to favor what's rich and comforting. You prefer food that will definitely satisfy you. You are eclectic, stylish, and totally random with your choices. You are deep and thoughtful. You should consider traveling to Paris. The stereotype that best fits you is guy or girl next door. Hey, there's nothing wrong with being average.
