Git 'Er Done
Last night I got over six hours of sleep.
IN. A. ROW.
I woke up feeling like a new woman and wanted to catch up on some stuff. So I got dressed in my exercise clothes to start exercising.
I started a load of laundry.
I started emptying out the dishwasher.
I started organizing my new scrapbook desk.
However, I didn't finish a single one of those things.
But I did finish filling the coffee carousel.

I may not have showered or exercised or finished anything else today, but by golly, I WILL have my choice of extra bold, medium or mild blend!

Truth, Lies and Biscotti
I've found that 4-year-olds are a veritable font of unasked-for truth. Like the other day when Chloe saw me reading my Bible:
C: What are you doing?
Me: Reading my Bible and praying. I'm having my quiet time with God. I try to do it every day.
C: But you don't do it every day.
Me: I know, but I try.
C: Yeah, but Mommy, you don't!
Or regarding my post-baby size:
C: Mommy, when I grow up and have a baby, will I have a really, really big chest like you?
But last night Chloe outright lied for the first time. I mean, she's told plenty of fantasy stories about the people who come and play with her during naptime, but this was different. This was a LIE. In fact, it was three LIES.
She was supposed to clean her room, which pretty much looked like a tornado went through a tutu store. She said she was done, and when I checked, lo and behold, a clean room! Except, wait, what's that sticking out of the closet? Hmm...some dress up clothes...and baby doll clothes...and pajamas...and dirty clothes. She had stuffed the whole pile into her closet. So we talked about how we don't put things into our closets like that, and she had to put them all in their proper places.
Hysterical crying ensued.
Later, she came out and said she was done.
Me: Already? You put it all away?
C: Yes.
Me: You put your dirty clothes in the basket?
C: Yes.
Me: You put your baby doll clothes in their drawer?
C: Yes.
Me: You cleaned it all up?
C: Yes.
So I go to check, and lo and behold...it's all still in the closet. She didn't check one thing. So I sat her on my lap and we had a talk about what lying is, and how it's not honoring to God, and she apologized and we prayed to ask God for forgiveness, too. Then I told her she had to clean it all up.
Hysterical crying ensued.
She refused to look at me or talk to me, and finally (since it was past her bedtime by now) I just had to say goodnight and she could finish cleaning and then get herself into bed.
So today we made biscotti together, since we ended last night on such a low note.
Because really, is there anything that some homemade biscotti and a cup of coffee (or two) can't fix?

Menu Plan Monday
I'm still trying to learn how to organize my day with three kids, so I'm going to try and keep it a little bit simple this week!
Monday- Ham and Cheese Quiche
Tuesday- Steak, Rice and Veggie
Wednesday- Slowcooker Chicken Soft Tacos
Thursday- Slowcooker Oriental Chicken and Rice
Friday- Fajitas
Hopefully some of those meals work out and we don't end up eating cereal or pizza every day :)

No, it's not my New Year's Resolution...
But it is time to lose some weight. I told myself I would start the Monday after I hit the 6-week postpartum mark.
That is coming sooner than I'd like!
Of course, how I'm going to squeeze a workout in when most days I can't even squeeze a shower in, I don't know.
But it will add to the nose-tickling essence of spit-up and diapers that I carry with me now, won't it?
I still haven't quite decided on my game plan this time around.
Here's my weight loss history (because I know you want ALL the details, and besides actually putting these numbers out there is a reality check!)
I spent most of my college years around 145 pounds, which was perfectly fine, since I'm 5'8. I could have lost a few, and at times did, but I was comfortable.
Then I went to grad school.
And got engaged during grad school.
And planned a wedding during grad school.
And got married three days after I finished grad school, and was somewhere around 160 pounds. I didn't own a scale at the time, so I'm just judging by the number of times I thought, "All my pants have shrunk. I really need to quit drying them in the dryer."
By the end of my first year of marriage I was 186 pounds.
Then I got pregnant. After that I was 204.
A combination of Power 90 and Windsor Pilates videos and calorie-counting got me to 170 and then I got pregnant again. After that I was 212.
I got down to 196 with my videos again, and then Isaac was sent to Afghanistan and the kids and I moved in with my parents. Since we were getting all kinds of hazardous duty pay, I went on Nutrisystem and got a personal trainer, and in my spare time used the Couch to 5k running plan. And got down to 166.
Then my husband came home. And I got pregnant. And yesterday was the 6-week mark and I am 215.
Ultimately I'd like to be 150.
Which means I want to lose 65 pounds.
Let me just take a moment to ponder the enormous enormity of that number.
Ok. Since I have three children and my husband is back so I have someone to, you know, talk to and do stuff with in the evenings, I don't know when I'm going to find the time to exercise. I think I'm going to use these Billy Blanks Bootcamp dvd's I got last year but never used. But I'm also going to go check out a new gym around the corner. And I'll apply the eating principles I learned on Nutrisystem and probably count my calories, too.
*Sigh* Maybe I should go eat another chocolate chip hazelnut bagel before this all kicks in on Monday...of course, we're out of hazelnut cream cheese, so it just won't be the same...
