... and that would be me

Nov. 24, 2009 - Hunting 09

This year of hunting, I got my first and second deer! And Em got her first deer!

Emily and her first deer. Big muley doe. :D

Me and my first deer. Yearling buck. (Note my cool gun please. :P It has 15 deer under it's muzzle) SO FAR! :P

Me and my second deer! Either a baby from this year, or a yearling. It's a doe.

The last few days, we've been cutting up deer. Other people in my family got deer, too. Plus, some other people gave us some deer. So all in all, (including the ones given to us) we've got 13 deer in the freezers! :D

Well, that's all folks!

Nov. 9, 2009 -

Man, it is so good to be home.

October 22nd we left for Oregon at 5:30 AM I think it was. Over an hour after we were supposed to. :D All the girls and little kids were packed and loaded before the boys were even awake! Well, besides Joe, ;At the Ecola Hall Reunion&because he had to go to work at 4 AM. So, we can easily put the blame of being late on the boys. :-D       We arrived in Oregon on October 22nd... late at night.. ate food that Grammoo cooked, and went to bed about 1 AM October 23rd.

October 23rd A few people went and picked up Grandpa's van and went and picked up the H's (Joe's fiance and her parents) and Joe at the airport. Then, they came back to Grammoo and Papa's house. We left for Canon Beach after that. We took the H's to their hotel, dropped off the food that Grammoo sent for them to eat, and cleaned up a syrup spill in the camper trailer. I don't think we did much else there in Canon Beach. We then drove to the R's (about an hour away). The R's are friends that Mom and Dad knew 20 years ago.. at Ecola Hall in Canon Beach. So, anyway, at the R's, they had another family over and we ate dinner and stayed up late. I think we went to bed about midnight.

October 24th we drove back to Canon Beach for the Ecola Hall Reunion. I believe it was that morning at the reunion, we played our music, and Dad spoke. I forgot what else we did that morning. At lunch time, while most all the rest Ecola Hall Reunion people went to take a tour of Ecola Hall, the R's, H's, and us went to the H's hotel room and ate hamburgers and hotdogs, walked on the beach, practiced our skits for the talent show, and talked alot.    At Mom and Dad's Anniversary party  That evening, we went back to the church where we played our music earlier in the day and everybody reintroduced themselves and told what has happened in the past 20 years. After that was the talent show.. We did a few skits, and a few other people sang and did skits and such. That night we drove back to the R's, ate a little bit, and stayed up later than it already was.

October 25th we went to a morning service with the rest of the Reunion people.. which one of the alumni, who is a pastor, spoke. After that, we headed back to Portland to play at the Manor, which is a retirement home. I don't recall doing much after that.. went back to Grammoo and Papa's house and went to bed.

October 26th was our shower day.. LOL. I think about 6 people took showers that morning... That afternoon we headed to Salem, to Uncle David's house and had Taco's and Banana Splits and played bowling, golf, DDR, and boxing (which Katie H. beat everybody at the punching bags). Headed back to Grammoo and Papa's house late, slept there. This was also the day that a few of us started feeling sick.

October 27th was Mom and Dad's 25th anniversary. Grammoo, Uncle David and Aunt Fran planned a surprise party for them... had a nice mix of friends and family. We played our music at it, with Uncle David joining us with his bass. But, backing up to the morning, that was when most of us were feeling sick.. that and that night. So Mom got some medicine for us... Somehow we figured out we had the swine flu.

October 28th we woke up EXTREMELY early and drove to NCCS (North Clackamas Christian School) and played music there. After that we went and played at Gilman Park, another retirement home. After that we went back to Grammoo and Papa's house and vegged out. By then, we were running temperatures.. Eric's got up to 107º. A few others had 104;Abby and Elle&º.

October 29th we went to Grandma Kathy's house all day.

October 30th Joe and the H's were taken to the airport to fly back. We went to Deseret (a Mormon thrift store.. because the Mormons are the only sources we can find for modest clothing!) and shopped there for a while. After that we drove to Vancouver, Washington and Emily, Kate, Tess, and Abby got their ears pierced. Then we went to the Guitar Center and dropped off Dad, Ben, Em, and Eric, and Grandpa's van. The rest of us went back to Grammoo and Papa's house. Later, Uncle David also came to Grammoo's house.

October 31st we hung around Grammoo and Papa's house all day, packed so we could leave early the next morning.

November 1st we were homeward bound. Got home late. Crashed.

November 2nd Mom and Ben went shopping for hunting. We did some things to get ready for hunting.

November 3rd We headed up to the mountains to hunt about midday. Set up camp and hunted that evening.

November 4th Hunted. Joe got his deer. Joe also had to go back home to work.

November 5th Hunted. That evening Ben got 2 deer.

November 6th Hunted the morning. Went around the loop. Kate got a deer. Packed up and left for home. Joe left home to go work in a different city for a few days.

;Kate with her first deer&

November 7th hung out around home. Ben, Eric, and Em went hunting on the G's land. Shot at a few, but didn't kill any.

November 8th Processed all 4 deer. Ate pizza for dinner. :-D

November 9th is today. We are all mostly over the pig flu. Dad might have got pnumonia. We are still coughing. A few of us have runny noses. Dad and Ben went back to work today. Joe is expected back today, I think. It is also exactly 1 month until my birthday! EEk! Time travels WAAAYYY tooooo fast. But, none the less, as much fun we had in Oregon and hunting, it still is sooo good to be home. ;Twins at the H's hotel near Canon Beach& As you may see, I changed my template. I never got around to fixing my other one.. I do wish HSB would get some new templates, though. :-)

Now, I won't blame you if you skip everything. I admit, it is pretty boring. Mom is gone to town right now, so I will post this as soon as she gets back. I don't know whether I'll add pictures or not. I might just be too lazy. :-)

Auf Wiedersehen until next time.

Oct. 19, 2009 - Posting again. :)

Ok, a few people have wanted me to post again.. so I will! Long time no see, blog friends! :)

We are going to Oregon soon. We are going to play music! Also, we are going hunting JUST  after getting home from Oregon... soo... we are pretty busy with getting everything ready for both Oregon and hunting! I have 1 vest and 2 shirts left to make (for our performance outfits). I am pretty close to freaking out!

We went shooting yesterday. I had to get a new scope because my previous one was broken, so a good deal of the time was spent siting it in. It was the weekend before hunting season started, so, it was quite crowded at the gun club!

Sorry if this post seems rather random... I am just typing what comes into my head. :P and things are not coming to my head.. we have been spending most of our time with planning for Oregon! I know I will have a lengthy post when we get back. :)

Auf Wiedersehen until next time!

Sep. 16, 2009 - Shooting For The Moon

So I'm sure you've all heard the quote that says something like, "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars." I used to think this was a pretty great idea. I may or may not have written it across a couple of notebooks back in the day just to serve as inspiration. And then I realized...the stars are great and all. But God has huge moon-sized dreams for me. Why would I want to stop short when He's brought me so far? God likes to do BIG moon-sized things. Like use a kid to end slavery. And bring justice to those who've been treated unfairly. And end poverty by helping kids. And cure diseases like AIDS and cancer. And rescue young girls from lives in the sex trade. And bring peace to war-torn countries. And He likes to use His people to get stuff done. So dream big moon-dreams. And when you end up with a handful of stars, keep going because you're not there yet. Even when it gets hard and it hurts. Even when you fail a couple (or a couple hundred) times. Even when you really question why in the world God gave you your particular moon-dream because it may as well be impossible. Even when people say that you should maybe think about finding a new dream that isn't quite so hard to reach. Keep going.

Aug. 13, 2009 - :)

I haven't posted for quite a while, so I will, now.

Ok. In July our baby guinea fowl hatched. We only got 3 this year. We got to watch one hatch. His name is Bob. It was so cool!

This is a different one. This one is Mary.

We sold them to some people when they were about 1 1/2 weeks old.

While the moms were sitting on the eggs, a couple bull snakes kept wanting to eat the eggs. Eric killed one, and I skinned it. It was almost a tall as me, and it was really heavy.

If you can see, it had already swallowed an egg.

Then last week, our family and Katie's (Joe's fiance) family. (Katie, Mr. H, and Mrs. H) played our music at the fair. We are also going to play music this saturday, too.

Now best for last! In October we are (us and the H's) going to Oregon to play music a a ton of places! Most of our family lives there. I can't wait to see them.

Hey Guys! Well, I"m back form my Vacation! Been back for awhile now. lol Yeah, anyways  I"ve just now had the time to get on here 2 tell  you about it..Well, the 1st day we drove 15  hours. We stayed in West Virgina for the night. Then we headed to Maine. We went to Maine to see a Light house that was designed by George Washington. It was rainy that day.. It pretty much rained the whole time we we're gone. But that's okay. I still had a wonderful time. Then after we left Maine we went headed to Boston. I really enjoyed Boston. It's one of my fave places. I also got to meet MY PENPAL!!! It was the coolest thing. She was on facebook one of the nights we were in Boston. I told her I was in Boston and she was like "NO WAY" so i got to meet her. So that was pretty neat. I also got to meet Steve (not the guy who plays off blues clues) but he plays in between shows on PBS kids. lol It still was awesomeeee!!! lol The last day we stayed in Boston mom and I just walked around. My brother and dad went to a baseball game. :) We stayed in Boston for 3 days. I really enjoyed Boston most of the time mom and I just walked around. Jul. 30, 2009 - If Anyone Can Tame His Tongue...

Last night in youth group, we talked about James 3 - Taming the Tongue. My youth pastor said something that really stuck with me.

"You can start a war with one word."

It's so true. I can remember things that have been said to me from when I was really little that stuck with me all through my life. There have been stories of people who were verbally abused so much they killed themselves! And even the ones who are the leaders, the ones who are suppose to protect people, say things that can scar their reputation forever.

It's crazy how powerful we don't realize we are.

When I was in 5th grade, my lovely cousin decided to inform me that I was a dork. Wasn't that sweet of her? Now I'll admit that as far as stereotypes go, I kinda was a dork. But that's not the point. I went through a few years of my life thinking that I actually was a dork, and no one really wanted to be my friend. Whenever that word was aimed at me, even if it was just in a joke, I would feel myself heat up all over again! Thankfully, I had a loving family that encouraged me and a loving God who brought me through that phase of my life. Now I'll willingly admit to being a dork...that is, a Daughter Of the Risen King.  Isn't it amazing how God can take something that is meant to hurt you and turn it into something wonderful?

There's another interesting thing about our words. We can stop wars with them, too. When we tell someone they look nice, or that we enjoy being around them, or even just saying hello and asking how someone's day was can make a bigger difference than we realize! Encouraging people, making the conversation about them instead of about us, and pushing people towards their dreams are ways that we love others as we love ourselves.

I've been thinking a lot about what I believe in. See, people say they believe in things all the time that they don't show that they believe in. For instance, if someone believes lying is wrong but lies continually, then they must not believe too strongly that it's wrong. If I believe that my words have power, I'm going to be very careful about what I say. If I don't want to cuss, I'm not going to watch movies or listen to music that have cussing in them. If I don't want to speak negatively about someone, I'm not even going to think about them negatively, for out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. If I can surrender my thoughts and words to Jesus, then I can do anything. James says that if a man can tame his tongue, he can keep his whole body in check! In other words...it's hard! But if we can surrender it, we'll be amazed at what God can do in our lives. :)

Last night, I surrendered a few different words and thoughts to Jesus. I decided not to say some things I wanted to and not to think some things I wanted to. I told Him I'd be okay with whatever happened. And as I was driving home last night...I felt more peaceful and content than I have in a long time. :)

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart (feelings), with all your mind (thoughts), and with all your strength (actions)."

- Danya <><
