Feb. 6, 2007 • Painless Copywork (or NOT)!

Posted in My Ramblings

Well, I was going to post about how a couple of my children were typing out their favorite Psalms on their blogs. I thought it was cool because it was something they chose to do and it counts as a painless form of copywork, which my boys don't usually like. Come to find out, my oldest son told my daughter about Bible Gateway, and she was copying and pasting her favorite verses! And I was so impressed with her typing format!!!

Oh, well! Allyson loves to write and voluntarily does coypwork all the time anyway. Jordan really did type his out while his sister dictated the verses, so I guess his still counts!

for stopping by my blog and commenting on Marissa's letter. I don't know if you followed the links to Structured Writing... but Marissa plans and writes all her essays using this system. It was designed to be used with Inspiration software. The program forces the writer to organize their thoughts in an outline form before starting the writing. It works well for Marissa, but takes a lot of time... that 5 paragraph letter represents about 8 hours of work. (Well two hours were spent designing her letterhead ~ so 6 hours of writing)

That is so funny that your kids are copying their work from Bible Gateway... I hope you encouraged them for their marvelous, ingenious use of resources.

Marissa wanted me to give her credit for writing for her blog entries. I told her I would as long as she wrote in complete sentences, using appropriate grammar.... NEWAY (anyway) she has dropped it ~
