Mar. 2, 2007 • Free Sewing Tips

Posted in Free Life Skills Resources

A few days ago, I received an e-newsletter from Bunkhouse Sewing. Ha! I didn't even remember signing up for it! Anyway, there is a free pattern for making a pillowcase. It is the same pattern that is in "Stitches & Pins." I decided to check out the website, and there is a page of free sewing tips, projects, and activities here. You may also request a free 2-page e-book entitled "Free Tips for Teaching Children to Sew." If you request the e-book, you can also check a box to receive their e-newsletter. I guess that's where I must have signed up because I can't find another link for the e-newsletter on the website.

JoAnn Gagnon, the author of Bunhouse Sewing, has a blog here at HomeschoolBlogger called Sewing & Such, where she shares her experiences teaching her grandchildren to sew, sewing tips, and lots of pictures of projects.

I am using Stitches & Pins with my daughters, ages 8 and 9, and we love it! It isn't free though! Here are some other sewing links that offer free instructions and/or patterns:

Free Sewing Book: Beginning Sewing Lessons
and Free Sewing Patterns from C&F

Sewing Guidelines and Free Sewing Projects by category from the Home Sewing Association

Free Doll Making Projects and Doll Patterns at AllCrafts.net (there are more free projects here - the site is huge)

Free 18-inch Doll Dress Pattern and Easy Strip Quilt Pattern

Enjoy!
