That will be all for us I am afraid but they certainly keep us busy and laughing ! I hope this blog to be one .. my diary of what goes on here ... but also full of photos and the funny things kids do and say. I am an avid scrapper and cross stitcher and love to read to my kids ... we try new things and I am just about to start a new teaching method that I am quite excited about! Thanks for stopping by!

I am thinking

Of doing a subject a day ?? instead of trying to cram it all into every day ??

We did it that way for the past 2 years and love it.I only have 1 that I need to oversee so he even gets to pick what day he does what; but he knows that each subject has to be covered. This year is a rad bit different as he had some other subjects to add to it.So he does one big subject like math, and then a short one like reasing comprehension. One reason that we totally love it is because if we are realy getting into a subject we don'r have to quit.Ironicallly, we are getting a lot more done this way too. Oh one other thing, Evrey day he does do a math review paper. It only has 10 questions on it and he can do this any time of the day he wants, he prefers evenings while I am fixing dinnner. He also does reading once a day, of a read ouit loud book.Of course he reads to himself anytime he wants. I do the math review sheet because it's important to get that foundation down.I also noticed that without it he would sometimes forget simple things while learning something new.Like to carry the 1 when adding triple difits. He also has a problem wth 6x7, no clue why; so that one appears often on his review sheet.
My daughter is 16, she pretty much does her own thing. I did notice she does hers in chunks. She gets all her science done for the month, then her history, eyc.Oh and my son is 8.
Anothe grst thing about doing one a day, is that it's easier to fit projects in.It also saves on getting ready and putting things away every day. I color coded his folders and notebooks to match. So if it's science it's green . He knows to grab his science book and the green folders(2) Puttings away is just as easy.ASnother great thing about the one a day part is that if he is still coloring a picture, I can go along with other things, as I save those knds of things for last. /Hope this gives you ideas to try and seee what you trhink.Any questions you can email me peach_hugs@yahoo.com. They are fine.

Find out what is important to your husband. What are some specific goals that he wants each child to achieve and then concentrate on those. Don't feel the pressure of having your children learn remote facts that public school kids are learning.
For us this includes: Bible, English, Math - almost every day. Then we have a day where we concentrate on the extras like science, social studies, sewing, and other activities. You will find that your children are probably learning a lot more than you think. If you sit back and recount the day you probably have covered subjects in a non-traditional way. Cooking could be math, science and history all in one. Math- how much of each ingredient, Science- why does baking soda need a acid to make things rise, history- where did this recipe originate.
I love homeschooling because it gives me the flexibility to decide what I know is important for my children to learn because I know my children best.
