Suggestions for Kindergarten?

Hello to any one reading this!

If you have any suggestions for a K-5 program/curriculum please let me know. I will be homeschooling my daughter next year. The only curriculum that I am familiar with is ABeka for Kindergarten but I would like to avoid ABeka if I can.

Any feedback regarding Rod and Staff or C.L.A.S.S  for kindergarten would be especially helpful!

I am excited and nervous about joining the homeschool crowd. I was homeschooled for four years and loved it. For the past seven years I have taught third grade, implementing many new ideas and experimenting with different techniques. I miss teaching but I am so looking forward to this chapter in my life...teaching my daughter.

I am adopting two young children from Haiti. So, last April at my state's homeschool convention (and after selecting curriculum for the child that is in my home already), I checked out the curriculum for young kids. I really liked My Father's World. David Hazell, the founder of this company, presented at the conference. He was awesome too.

So, I haven't tried it, but... if I were buying, I would probably purchase this product.

Hello, We use sonlight which I love because it is very literature based. You get tons of great books to read together and enjoy. Especially at the K level : ) Another added bonus for me is that everything is scheduled. I don't have to figure out what I'm going to do or how I'm going to put it together. It's already done for me and you can deviate from the schedule if you want to skip something or add it in : ) You can check it out at: www.sonlight.com
Best wishes in your curriculum search!
Blessings,

Hello. I'm a fellow classmate in the Blogger School but I also seen you are new to homeschooling. I think homeschooling is such a privelege and I feel very thankful for the freedom to do so.

As far as ideas for your kindergartener, have you checked into the Charlotte Mason method? Two places that I would send you for more info online would be Ambleside Online and the blog Higher Up and Further In. I believe you will LOVE Higher Up and Further In so be sure to check it out.

Sounds like you have some good ideas for Christmas. I enjoyed reading your post.
