Madison's Musings

Jun. 16, 2007 - Wow....

Wow, the most remarkable thing has happened other than me being born:

I have 2 birth days now! Yup! I've been baptised!!!! Here let me tell you my story:

Well, I was helping out with Vacation Bible School (VBS) at our church, and on the last night they had baptisims. I didn't plan on getting baptised because you had to have a slip to do so, plus I had no clothes to change into. And when they started so many people got baptised! Over 200 did I believe...and 102 recieved Christ the day before; that was when they were prayed over and were prayed with. It was one of the most amazing sights that I have ever seen...and in the end when they finished the baptisims that were with slips, they said "OK, whoever wants to be baptised can come up now, permisson slip or not, this is a time when the Holy Spirit calls you to do so." So when I saw so many people get baptised, I realized that was something I wanted to do, I wanted to be  someone who was up there with them! With the baptised family of Christ. And something called inside of me to do so, plus my friend Alex wanted me to since he got baptised too.

So I went up the stairs to the tub and when the first person went they only got a few hand claps and cheers.  (They did 2 at a time) And when I got in the tub where people could see me people broke out in hand claps and cheering! It was so awsome to be noticed among others. And when I was in the stairway I was filled with emotion so I was crying and nervous. But when you're up there it doesn't matter if you know someone or not, so I was crying and hugging on a person that I didn't know, but inside I did.

And when I went in the pool it was nice and warm, and I was still crying out of nervousness, and from being so overwhelmed. So when one of the people that was baptising grabbed my hand he put me next to him and he asked me "Have you excepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior?" And of course I answered "Yes". And then he said "I now baptise you in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit!" Then he dipped me down and I came up feeling better than ever! I'll never forget the feeling of how wonderful and joyful that time was.

When I came out they made me walk to another person who showed me out into the hallway, and gave me a towel. Since I had some stuff in my pockets before I went in, a lady offered to hold them for me and then give them back to me once I came back into the hallway...so I'll tell you more about it later and all of that jazz...so I'm going to go now! The Lord be with you, I know he's with me!

Congratulations Madison! It is a great thing to be baptised. I was baptised a few years ago in a river. It was cold water, but that was ok. My dad got to baptise me and my brother. That was really great. I am really glad you did that. I am glad it made you feel good, because it should make you feel good! Congratulations again! ; )
