We are currently reading the Moody family series out loud again, and they are such GREAT books. A great example of everyday life in a godly family. We are all ejoying the Summer with the Moody's right now!
These books were an investment I'm really glad we made!
You can find them at

We also really love the Miller family series by Mildred A Martin. They really helped us to apply Bible verses in a fun way! My boys love the stories and we all learn a lot from them!
Missionary Stories with the Millers was also very good, though written in a different style. We used it for Geography as well.
I found some exerpts here when I was searching for pictures.

We actually have quite a few missionary story books. I would rather my children choose to admire men and women with hearts for God than sports stars, entertainers or anyone of that sort.
We have the first 2 Hero Tales so far, but my boys really enjoy them.
Patricia St John also never disappoints.
Great stories that always turn it around to Christ. I love her books!
Twice Freed was a bit over my boys's level a couple years ago when I read it to them, but I really enjoyed it! We dont own this one, but I thinkmaybe Peter is old enough to borrow it from the library.
We also have some booklets from the Pearables called the Wisdom Series. We found these at a thrift store and I can not find them online, so they are probably quite old, but we absolutely love them!
