1Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children
Lately I have been watching how sometimes my 3 yr ds watches his older brother and father with such intensity. I will then witness him later imitate exactly what he heard or saw. I then started looking more closely at my teenage dd. I noticed how she has some of the bad habits I had before I got saved (and some that I have now). This opened up my eyes to a whole new ballgame in homeschooling my children. I already knew that homeschooling starts from the moment your dc open their eyes in the morning until the moment they go to sleep at night, but this made me look at this a whole new way.
In praying about this, I realized that when the LORD created us, He created us to be imitators of the Father (GOD). Our dc were born to imitate. They will imitate what they see (good or bad) at home, church, and out in the world. It is so important that we watch what our dc see in us, tv land, friends, and even our extended families. Now, I love my dc very much as I am sure you love yours. I want to provide the best preparation for them not only educationally, but also spiritually. The LORD is showing me that now I have to pay more attention to what I am doing/saying (even if I am having a bad day) because they are always watching. Even when we are visiting friends/family, at the grocery store, and running other errands. We should always watch what we say or do. Are dc will not always be with us, but they will always imitate us. Let us not only teach them what the Word of GOD says, but let them see us also doing what the Word of GOD says.
James 1:22:
22Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
I finally found time to check my blog. Nice to meet you, your children are beautiful! We are on our 3rd week weaving, I don't quite have the hang of it yet, but we are moving right along. I am a planner also and love studying what I will be teaching. That's what I liked about Weaver, all the info they give you. Your blog is so true. It is a scary day when you see your faults in your precious children. It really makes you reevaluate how you express yourself. Thank goodness Gods see us through Christ.( if only our children could!)
Thanks for sharing those thoughts. It is so true, sad but true - our children will pick up our bad haibts. Thankfully they will pick up our good habits too! we need to be trying to be good examples for our children!

~ I Started this Blog March 25, 2007 ~
When my youngest son, Xander 3, became ill I decided to quit my job to stay home with him. I never would have imagined the journey our Lord would take us on since then. We have decided to keep our two older children home and homeschool all of them. Our children are AnaMaria 14, Wizdom 11, and Xander 3. I invite you to join us on our journey in our first year of homeschooling. I will be sharing our ups and downs and hopefully receive some advice along the way.
