We Are Exploring Our New Surroundings!
Well I'm finally feeling better and getting a little more sleep. My children and I have even started exploring our new surroundings. In the woods adjacent to my backyard we have found wild red raspberries. We also found something that we have never seen before, but are very curious and would like to know what it is. Can anyone out there help us?
What is this?:

Here is a close up view:

As we explored today, our little Leilani takes a nap:
(Please note I am not exposing myself, but wearing a brown tank top under my white shirt. You could barely see it under Leilani's head. I just want to make sure you guys don't think you're seeing something else under her head
)
We are so happy here. Everything is so beautiful and peaceful. It is a little weird on how slow things are here. In Florida it seemed everyone was always rushing. My dh and dc were discussing the other day that it feels like we are on vacation. LOL! Besides the slower pace, the scenery is so beautiful. When driving thru the mountains and all the trees it feels like I am in a picture. I am so excited to see what it will look like in the winter.

Hi Jen! Good to see you. Those green things are called hedge-apples, and I can't remember what they are good for... keeping mice away? Something like that. You just put them in your cupboard or behind the door or whatever, and the mice don't like the smell. Or is it roaches? lol. Do a Google on them.
Glad things are going well for you all in your new home.

Hi- I'm from the Phlic group, dropped by your blog b/c of the link on your message....
I'm pretty positive the thing you took a picture of is the fruit from the Osage Orange tree. We have them in our yard and we investigated what type of tree it was. There are many local names for the fruit- hedge apple being one of them.
Here is the wikipedia entry on it

I read that you used to live in florida. Where at? We moved from Fl. after living there my whole life to Montana about 4 years ago. I know exactly what you mean about everybody in a hurry and how beautiful the mountains are. SEASONS.....CAN YOU BELIEVE IT. In florida we had 2 seasons, hot and humid and hotter and more humider(haha.
