Animal Girl's Life

• Nov. 11, 2008 - G'day!

Hi everybody!

I hope you's are all beaut! Today I cleaned out Cleopatra vivarium today!

I got up early today. When Jak was reading a book in bed and Mum was still asleep I made a loaf with chockie chips! Mmmmm! It was so nice! but it took over half an hour to cook! But I had the timer on 15 minutes (our oven is a fast fan one) but I stuck a knife in it and it was NOT AT ALL COOKED!! hehehehe!
So I put it in again for another 10 minutes, but it still was not cooked! So I put it in for 12 minutes, and whilst I was waiting I went and let out, fed and watered the chooks and ducks, then I made a start on cleaning out their house! Then when I came in side, it was finnally finished!!!

I hope you like the pics!

• Nov. 9, 2008 - My Cleopatra

WoW! Cleopatra is home! She is the cutest thing, it was love at first sight with her, I don't ever want to put her down! I will put photos on of her after! But, as much as I want to play with her all day, I know that once a day is too much, snakes prefer to be left alone, and so I have to restrain my self (it so hard!) from holding her!
But luckily for her, she has just been fed a mouse, so I can't hold her for a couple of days anyway! She is only tiny, (if you have never seen a snake, or don't know much about them, then you will be suprised for the size of a baby snake!) you were probably expecting a big girl who will fit around my shoulders, and take up half the cage!! Nope! She will one day be big enough to hold round my neck, but not now! She is 11 months old, yet she is so tiny!! And so cute!!! I had to tell the same story over and over again yesterday, when we had a BBQ with our church! I had to get the skin out and say 'she is this big' so many times, and they all asked the same questions, and I had to keep apologizing for not being able to get her out. Though I did not think I should have to apologize, since it was just a fact I could not get her out. But I did not mind telling the story over and over again!!!! The main part of the story was the night she got out!!!!!!!! Boy, she is a cheeky little girl!!! Here I am, up till over nine not daring to go to sleep, for fear she might get out, then after a lot of being told she was perfectly safe in there, I went to sleep, with Cleopatra at the end of my bed (in her house, how many girls get to sleep with a snake at the end of their bed!!). Then, suddenly I am awakened by Mum (only moments after I had dropped to sleep!) saying "quick, Cleopatra got out!" I am shooting up out of bed, and there she is in between the glass over halfway out!!! This body bigger then my thumb, got out between a tiny gap between the glass!!! Boy!!! WoW! We put her in a more secure encloser, so she is safer now! But now we have (hopefully) escape proofed her house! It is not a cage, nor an aquarium, I think you call them a vivarium or somthing like that!

Jak is eager to hold her, but I want to wait a few more days! He loves to pat her, and for some strange reason, he reckons they are slimy! I don't know why! She is so smooth, and so cute and amazing! But one thing I will tell you, and I can assure you that snakes are not slimey, is THEY DON'T HAVE SWEAT GLANDS!!! So there! If you reckon you have touched a snake, and you go along with the crownd just cos you don't want to be diferent and say they are slimey, then most likely you were so scared that ya hands were sweating and so you put that on the poor snake!

Well, I better be going now!!

I have so many more stories I wished to tell, but I have no time to tell them!

So bye for now!

• Nov. 4, 2008 - Snakes Alive!

Cleopatra should be coming home this Friday!!!!!!! WOOOOHOOO! Sankes Rule! I am SSOOOO excited!!!! I can't wait!!!

Yes you were correct, we got FOUR more chooks!!! Now we have sixteen including the ducks!!!

At this minute I am sitting on the PC chair with grazing 'roos behind me! I could not live in any other country! We have the amazing Koala, the famous Kangaroo, the fast little ripper on hind legs the Frilled lizard!, and SNAPPY and CUTE crocs!!!! Heaps of adorable spiders! Spiders are one of the cutest animals on earth! And amazing beaches and fish! Unlike what some people believe, we don't have kangaroos hoppying through Sydney on the streets! Our mail does not come by Camel, usually by car or plane (Australia Post). And though we are a hot contient (meaning both sorts of 'hots' the slang word and the phisical word!) we don't always have hot days (unless you are lucky enough to live in the beautiful state of Queensland!) sometimes we double the jumpers! (oh, I don't mean dresses, I mean the things called 'sweaters')

I have been sick the past few days, but I could not stay in bed the whole time, I did do a bit of dancing, whilst sucking a cough lolly! But I missed feeding the animals. Mum did that for me. Mum was great!
The other day when I was cleaning out the guinea pig cage, I went to the bale of straw (which is not much of a bale now!) and I removed the tarpolen, and there was a hollowed out place, with an egg in it! or gold chook (whose name is now Rabies! after the incident that happened with bat!) has been laying her eggs in there the past few days!

Well, I have things to do!

• Nov. 3, 2008 - Animal Girl

I am sitting on the computer chair (obviously) and thinking on what the heck I am supposed to write! I had SSSOOOOO many things to say, and I finally take the time to sit down, and write them...... Ahh! I just Remembered one thing, we had a bat in our chook shed!!!! He was dead the poor little guy. He was a Micro Bat! They all hang around in the bush we have around us. Any way, I was trying to catch a Bantam, and had almost done so, when our gold chook, (or Chicken as Americans say) came running from the dark end of the chook shed, at first I thought it was a peice of plastic, and I nearly grabed it off her, when suddenly I thought it was a mouse! I am use to mice, and I have picked many a dead one up, so I still did not hisitate, and then, it had wings!!!! I suddenly remembered Micro bats, and I quickly left it alone, and knowing Mum would not want be going near a dead bat (my Mum is very cautious about desieses which is a good thing) and so because the chook with the already dead bat in her beak was in front of the door, I unlocked the chooks window and jumped out, panicked that the chook would get rabies and die (I know nothing about desieses, and had no idea that birds don't get rabies) and called Mum (but she was taking so long) I almost decided to joke by saying "there is a Brown snake eating our chooks" but I decided that she would panic and possibly fall down the stairs in such a rush, finnaly she reached the chook shed door and went. After a lot of non contact and trouble, we got the bat out, and everything it had touched in the bin. And if you do get rabies from bats, well, it won't come for the next 7 years!!! So if in 7 years time I don't write on my blog, you'll know what will have happened! Sorry, I can be a bit light hearted when it comes to deisies from animals that can cause death! I once kissed a wild injured blue tongue on the head!!!! But I really could not care less, my life is now devoted to animals!!

Well, I will have to write down next time what I wanted to say! I have to go now!!!

Actually no, wait. Yesterday I saw the most cutest birds!!! Well, they weren't exactly cute, but what they were doing was cute. This little bird (I forgot what he was) and this Magpie were fighting on the people accross the road from us roof. Any way, the little bird would not give up. After he was sent sliding down the roof from a peck from the magpie, he flew back up and did the same to the magpie, and then (oh, and when I said it was cute what they were doing, I did not mean in was cute they were fighting, but the cute part comes up later) the magpie had the little bird in their back yard and they were littrally rolling on the ground like dogs, I was worried when the little bird stayed on the bottom for a few moments, but was soon up again fighting! Then because he was tiring, his mate apeared from no where and they both chased the Maggie off!!! It was so cute watching them work together, and they won!!! WOO HOOO!!

• Oct. 27, 2008 - Photos of my birthday!

I think I forgot to mention how my hat went flying into the emu pen! We had to find a zoo keeper to get it out!!!

This is me that morning. I think I look a bit Chinese!

Here I am blind folded so I don't know where we are going!

Wow!!!! a RED bellied BLACK snake!!!!!

This is me around four years old!

Isn't this bird stunning!

I am about two here!

This was me 'all done up' I was trying to keep a straight face! Mum says that earings and necklaces don't suit me, or my personality!

• Oct. 27, 2008 - More about my Birthday!

It was very rushed last time I wrote. I forgot to talk about my birthday cake, Mum made a real beaut one which said 'Animal Girl'. It was so yummy!!! Mmm! It was very colourful! It was great of Mum to do that!

I also got a really nice bracelet from a friend, as well as a beading set and the beads change colour in the sun light!!

Today I cleaned out my snake cage, the license was suppose to come by my birthday, but it was not, and it still hasn't come!!! It has been ages!!! And it still did not come today!!! I am really put off about that!!!

The cage is new (sort of) but the guy who sold it to me, had snakes in it already, so it was filthy, and the glass was dirty. But it is much cleaner now. I am not 100% sure if I will use sand (the special stuff) or cat litter. It depends on what works best for the snake. Mum thinks I am a bit crazy because I want to cram all this really cool stuff I see at the pet shop into one cage, though I know I don't need half the stuff. I keep forgetting that snakes don't need colourful stuff and toys!! But when I go to the pet shop, I want to take everything I see! But my cage is only 80c.m big, 20 c.m bigger then most small snakes species get, but still not big enough to fit in a separate pool and drinking water (they need a pool of water to help shed the skin, but they generally use their drinking water) as well as this massive half log and a branch to climb, plus also the need a place to cool off from the heat mat, so I have lots to think over!

Well, bye for now!

• Oct. 25, 2008 - My Birthday!!!!

I had the BEST time yesterday!!!! WooHooo!!!! I went to the zoo, I went swimming, my birthday wish, and we went to the mountains!!! Oh, I can’t begin to express how exciting it was!!! Mum had me blind folded so I could not see where we were going, I was fully confused. First we went to the mountains, that was easy to guess, because soon there was less cars and more birds, and the temperature dropped. We then stopped at the top and I was un blind folded and looked around, I had guessed right, we had a quick look, but Mum wanted to fit in more stuff, so we only stopped quickly, and climbed up the hill.

Then I was blind folded again, for a longer time and it was so un comfortable, finnaly I noticed we were on a bush track, in the back of my mind I was praying it was praying we were going to a zoo bug I though it was to much to expect. Mum kept me blind folded, and I stood there, I was scared as soon as Mum let go of my hand, and so Jak led me, then Mum said smile, and I managed a smile, but in the photo you can see I was utterly confused. Mum pulled me along but I was complaining that I just could not walk for fear of tripping, then Mum said “hang on” and she disappeared, I called for Jak, I could here many animals, especially bird noises, and I new I was correct, noise was the only thing I had to tell me where we were, I would hate to be blind. Then Mum un blind folded me, and there was monkeys and birds so many animals! I was about to jump for joy, but I saw the guy at the place where you pay, and I was completely embarrassed that he had seen me blind folded!!! I would be here for hours saying every specific thing, but I will tell you my fav animals at the zoo: The snakes were my top; lace monitor; goulds monitor, bluetongues, RED BELLIED BLACK SNAKE!!; and the Shingle backs! Oh, I fell in love when I saw the monitors, they were so cute! I would love to put photos on now, but I can't. But I had so much fun hanging with koalas and kangaroos, patting the snakes, and oh some much fun!!!

Bye for now!

• Oct. 22, 2008 - Today

Today we did not do much very exciting, but I felt like typing. We went shopping, and we got a Lamington (how do you spell it?) and a choc bar each, and I also got to pick which desert I would like for tomorrow night on my birthday! Well, I already know we can't go swimming , Winter here in Australia is having it's last blow, so though the wether is sometimes sunny, it is cold, very odd, compared to the wether we have been having lately! I have two jumpers on! And our central heating is on! At the moment, though, I am feeling quite comfortable!

Mum came up with this horrible new hair wash! It is not that great to me! And Mum is expecting me to use it, oh dear!!! I much prefere the shop stuff, luckily Mum just bought a whole bottle more just before she decided with this 'healthy hair' wash!!! So because I will be the only one useing it, I will have to make it last as long as possible!! When Mum finally forces me to use this stuff which does not give your hair a nice shine (luckily Mum tried it before me!!!) I will use my 'back up stuff' to use when we are going to church or filming.
I can understand why Mum wants healthy hair, but still...

I have a challenge for this week ( W.C.G and N.C.G, you two know the answer, so please don't spoil it for other people!!! No offence!)

What does this say, this is very simple the first one, but I will make harder ones maybe.

SKOOHC EROM EVAH EW   what does it say? So right a comment and see what you think. Oh, and what it says is real. We got four!

Good bye!

Animal Girl.

Here is something else! Just a story I am making up as I go along! the sunnies means friend, and the smile means 'I', and the lips mean 'said'.

Today sent a  to a .   was having a time in Sydney, but the traffic was .

I know, I know, it is a pretty pathetic story!!! but I like useing the figures!

• Oct. 22, 2008 - G'day evrybody!

I am really excited! I am turning twelve this Friday! Ha,ha, ha! How cool!!???
My birthday wish is to go SWIMMING! A few questions and answer about me!

How is it to be 12: Quite sad really, I am really old now! nah, just kidding. I wish I could always be a kid, I wish I could always be nine! That is my favourite age!

Do you have a new favourite animal each year as you get older: NO! No way, snakes will always be a BIG favourite!!!

What do you have planed: I hope that my Wild Life show is liked (when it is published) and that the rest of the filming goes well!

What is the main animal you focus on in your show: Probably reptiles! Though I'll make an effort to fit in Mammals and Birds and all the rest!

Are you doing foreign animals: No, just Aussies, of course, I love ALL of the animals, but not very many shows focus JUST on AUSTRALIAN animals.

And why do you want to do a show on wild life: Well, I know some other people do (not very many I can think of though at the moment) but the more people who do it, the more other people will be inspired, and think that it is not just some people who like them, but many people do, and that it is great to love animals, and that animals are much nicer alive, then boots, mats, belts, it would be great if the whole world was teaching each other more about animals.

Do you enjoy being in front of the camera: Ok, I am making out like I am some kind of super star, I am an ordinary Aussie girl who has a great love for animals, we'll get that straight, but when I get the chance of being in front of the camera, because I am busy caring for the animals we do have I don't get much time, I like it, though I can't tell you how many mistakes I made in just one 5 minuet centence, is un believable!

Do you have time for all your animals, do you like them that much, or are they accsesories: NO!, I have time for ALL my animals, and there is NO way I would have ANY animal to show off to other people, and try and say how cool I am, and I LOVE ALL MY ANIMALS!

Well, thats all I have time for!

If you have any questions you can ask them!

• Oct. 16, 2008 - What Fruit am I?

Ha,Ha! Well, not all those things are true! I know the picture did not work, but it just looks like a lemon. The bit where they say that "some times your help is taken and appreciated" is true, but the bit at the top where it says I am not that great to be around when I am not sweet, is NOT true!
But I am pretty put off I am a lemon, all the lemons I eat are sour! Now apples are MUCH sweeter! But I think they made out like I am a haughty or however you spell it!

Today we did mowing! It was a lot of work! But I was not tired! Mum gets so much tireder then me! I felt just like normal after I had finished, because Mum can't do all of our land with a broken arm, we need a ride on mower, but I am petrified of them! Ever since an accident happened, when a boy at our church got hit by a blade, and its a long story! But yes, so I do a lot of the mowing. Not that I mind. After we mowed the front lawn, Mum started talking to our neighbor across the road, and so I tried to look really Aussie, 'cos this was the first time we talked to her other then the snake incident, so I had my hair out, and put on an old straw had we have, screwed up my nose, how I wish I had freckles on my nose, and walked out there in the Aussie way! Then I perched my self on top of out stable fencing, the sort they use for horses, which has a pole and two planks of wood accross, and then another pole etc. The only thing that was missing was the peice of straw I should be chewing on in my mouth!  But if I was to be really Aussie, I would have just gone out there normal!

You Are a Lemon

You have a very distinct personality. And if you're not being sweet, you're a little hard to take.

You're a bit overpowering, especially in one on one situations.

And while you are very dominant, sometimes your power is needed and appreciated.

You can liven up a dull situation, and you definitely bring a fresh outlook.

You are a bit of an acquired taste, and you tend to grow on people over time.

People feel refreshed and rejuvenated after spending time with you.

• Oct. 15, 2008 - Today and other days!

G'day everybody! How are ya's all goin'?
I am going beaut!
All four of our Bantam Hens are laying!!! I can not wait until our chooks grow up and start laying. I am not very good with eggs. The other day, I was in the chook shed, and I was doing something, and I found we had two eggs, so I put them in my pocket, and then I was chasing a chook and trying to catch a hen, and then I noticed a sort of cold feeling in my pocket, wondering what it was, I put my hand in, only to fund the sticky yolk! Mum was not very impressed, luckily, the other one did not crack! But a day or so after, I had one in my hand, it was the first 4th egg we had, so it was very special, but I was holding a pole in the same hand, and then it smashed against the egg, that was the second time in one week! Luckily the second cracked egg, was only lightly hit, and the thin casing on the inside was not damged, so it can still be used, thank goodness, but I am much more careful now!

Today I plan to ring the vet I'll do it now........ Guess WHAT!!!!! He made it!!!!!! That poor turtle crushed on the road, his insides showing is happy and they have reliesed him!!!!! I feel so happy! Mum did not think he would survive it, but he DID!!! And my made sure he was the right turtle so I did not get mixed up, and he was! Imagine if we had have seen the turtle on the side of the road, and though "he'll die anyway, even if we took him to the vet, so we''l just leave him there" he would have been killed. But because we bothered he has lived!!!! I feel so good inside! The reason I rung was because Mum did not want to find out, I think they thought it was odd that a kid rung, but Mum is happy too!

Well, I have to go now!

Bye!

• Oct. 10, 2008 - Poor Little Doggie.

I was out side dealing with our chooks and ducks water just then, when I saw a little doggie, about the same size as Danny, maybe a bit smaller, think of a silky terrier, walking on the street, I felt sorry for him, I have dealt with hundreds of stray dogs, some are friendly, some aren't, I, by now, can tell which are friendly, and which aren't, I even help the dogs that try to bite me. But this little dog was all lonsome, and I felt very sorry for him, so I called him off the road over into our yard, I use a certain voice for all dogs, and they come, and he seemed very friendly, so I shut the gate behind, he was under RSPCA standards for sure, I was going to ask mum if I can give him a wash, to help his skin desiese, but mum says that dog owners don't always like other people washing their dogs. Worried that whatever this dog had was contagouse, I sent Danny upstairs and told him to stay (a very hard thing for him to do, cos he felt he had made a new best friend!) I got some food and put a handful infront of the dog, he was not hungery. I had called Mum by now, you should have seen the suprised look on her face when she saw a stray dog in her yard! She did not ask anything then and there, she first wanted to ask whose dog he was, and the people near us said they did not own him. Then Mum asked how he got in our yard, and I tried to look and sound as though it was a desparet situation, Mum laughed, though she was not exactly pleased at the idea that I allow stray dogs into our yard, and said "that you can't go kidnapping other peoples dogs like that" but she was not really angry, just saying that letting stray dogs you don't know into your yard is not the best thing to do.
Mum said, that the best we can do is to release him back on the street, we had done what we could, and apart from his skin desiese, he seemed quite a happy dog and he was fed and watered, I think I saw him before, on an old country road near us, I remember saying how much he looks like Danny. He will know his way home, but I felt like we were betraying him turning him out of a yard like that, it makes me want to cry. I hope he has a sfae jouney, Mum has never been a big fan of dogs, she likes some, but she doesn't like others, but even the filthy smelly ones she and me help!

Bye

• Oct. 9, 2008 - "work" or you might call it "play"

Today I woke up feeling MUCH better! I was really excited! I danced a bit every day I was sick, even when I was weak in the head! I just can't stop dancing! Though, before I was even half way through the song, I fell on my bed coughing and had to take a horrible cough lolly, or a Loz-an-ger, or how ever you spell it! But I was so full of energy, I got up and went out to the chooks, I was disappointed that there was NO eggs, but even when there are some, they are puny little tiny things, I really don't think they are worth eating! I caught our duck, Quackery, and held her, she is so soft, but her feathers are coming through, she is growing up really fast! She was squeaking so loud, so I talked calmly to her, and that made her quiet.

I then dealt with letting the ducks out, and feeding and watering the animals. Then, I helped mum clean out the chook house by turning on the hose. Our faucet (tap) has a leak in it, and I put a broken bucket  under it, and a WHOLE BUCKET of WATER was left! imagine if all that water was wasted! And what did I use it for? Cleaning the car! It had a great use! otherwise, if i had not thought to use that bucket (even though it has got cracks) I would have used all the water from the hose, and that water would have been wasted! Saving water is VERY important.

Later I have a guinea pig cage to clean out. The boys cage rarely need cleaning, 'cos it does not have a bottom, so I just hose it over occasionally to keep it shiny, but the girls cage does have a bottom, so that I have to keep it spic'n'span. Washing our guinea pigs is fun, Nonama is the most fun to watch! She likes it when I put her on her back (with her on my hand) and wash the water on her tummy, she is so cute, but Bindi (Nonama's daughter) is not so keen on have a bath! She will do EVERYTHING to get out! Bindi is the aboriginal name for 'girl' and we where only going to keep her if she was a girl, so the name suited nicely, Nonama is an odd name, I could not think of a name for her, so it was going to be 'noname' but mum said that was not very imaginative, so it is "no-nar-ma" ('a' is not an a sound it is an 'r' sound).

I caught one of our white bantam hens today (bantams are small chooks) and mum got these photos of me playing with 3 of our animals, Danny, Puscans and our bantam hen (they don't have names yet).

• Oct. 7, 2008 - Today

One of our Bantams had a sore food, it was bleeding, we did not know how it happened, but something cut her quick . So I held her whilst Mum put some soapy stuff on her foot, it helps stop the bleeding.
I have a bad cold today, I get really weak in the head, and I can scarcely open my eyes, and it is not cos I am tired, but I feel how I feel just after I have run the 500 metre race, and it is all I can do to stop my self falling unconscious (It happened before, in other words, fainting, only I was not ill that time, I was 'burnt out', as my Nan would say ). But this time I was ill, and I have NOT been over working my self, it is so hard to sleep when I am dead tired, so much for 'the happiest girl in the world' though I still feel just as confident, my life is never boring, with all the animals to rescue, but other then my snake, the past two days have been silent, I have time to rest now. We still have not found out about the turtle, Mum was going to ring, but she does not want to know, she obviously expects the worst. I hope to find out though.

Bye for now!!!

• Oct. 6, 2008 - Happiest girl in the world!

Life is just so good to me at the moment, from down in the dumps, to me here liven' in the country. You see, I came from a town, but in the town I had HEAPS of animals, but still, it was not the same, and I was quite unhappy, though I was doing my wild life show. Here, I have all the animals I could want (except an elephant and a crocodile) I have a snake, who I get to see for the first time tomorrow, her name is Cleopatra (I know it sounds very girlie, but I LOVE Egyptian history!
I enjoy writing scripts, and planning for my show! I like teaching people about animals! It is so much fun when people ask me questions, and I have to answer them! So feel free to ask any (about animals I mean, or about me) particularly about reptiles, I know a hack of a lot about snakes, and questions I can't answer off the top of my head, I will look up for you, and tell you the answer from there! I can now load as many photos as I want on the computer, I will put them on!
Playing with our baby chicks is SSSOOOOO much fun! They think I am a perch, they are as tame as any thing, weather the other chooks (our new bantams) seem to have NEVER been handled in their life! They are crazy! Though, they do accept me as a part of them when I am in there for a long time, they get along quite well with me until I wish to hold one, then it is "Squak, Brouk, Quack, and CHEEP" when I try to catch them! The other day I was sitting in there with them, and I decided to catch one, at the same time, we had the ducks and chicks in there with them, so I chased them one way (all five, including the rooster) then they would run the other way, in the mean time, the rooster was crowing whilst he was running from me, the chooks were making comments about how wild I was and clucking, and because they are the fastest in the coop out of the duck and chicks, the balled over one poor duck, who told off the chooks by squealing as he rolled over his head and skid on his tummy, (they are still young, and the ducks still make squeaks, though the male is starting to make duck noises!) and the little chicks were getting stood on as the chooks ran the other way, and then Danny started barking at all the noise, that put the iceing on the cake. I was going deaf! Finnally I caught one, and guess what! She was so calm, I did not even have to hold her!!! Dear me!

Did I tell you what happened when N.C.G came for a sleep over? We were in the chook house and N.C.G  put all five of the baby chicks on me (we have ten, we have five chicks, and five adults, that includs the rooster) and so they were all perched on me, I had one on my head, one on my back (which meant I had to bend over!) and three on my arms! Then N.C.G took one off me, so I had four one me, then another jumped on my head, then the funniest bit...... one pooped on my head!!!! I could not stop laughing! It was SSOOOO funny!!!Ha,Ha!

Well, I have to go now!

Love, Animal Girl.

Me with the turtle I rescued! not the one that was crushed.
can you see the kangaroo?
our ducks, they are growing every day, so though this is a recent photo, it is not relevant to the size they are now.

us doing desperate stuff to reach the drowning frogs!

Me with the ducklings when they were a few weeks old (they are about 5 weeks now)

• Oct. 5, 2008 - PLEASE SLOW DOWN!

Yesterday, we rescued another turtle! I enjoy helping animals, it makes my day. But I often stop to think, if people were more careful, there would be NO need to save these animals! And Everyone knows when they have hit an animal, so STOP AND CHECK THE INJURED ANIMAL!!! Don't just get scared you will get in trouble by some one you take the injured animal to, it will do more harm then good if you leave him their. If you hit a kangaroo, check the pouch if it is a female, and take (if there is a joey) out of the pouch and take him to a nearby Animal Hospital, or, if there is none in your area, take him to a vet, depending on the injuries, they will either keep him and help him, or if he is badly injured, the vet will ring a wild life place for rehabilitation. We had to take our turtle to the vet, he was alive, but his shell was crushed. So we will find out if he made it or not on Tuesday. I will tell you what happens.

We are always rescueing animals, so far in 7 days, we have rescued TWO turtles a frog (we found him in our pond, he was going to be eaten by our ducks) and birds that were going to eat the poor blue tongue, my life is NEVER boring!

TODAY

Last night I found it SSOO hard to sleep, my rib really hurt, I get it every time after I have done lots of hard work and play, it is SSOOO painful, and I am not a wuss, and I put with a lot of bites and stuff from animals, today I played with some big ants (their commen name is 'bully ants' but I don't think they are bullys, they are just big) and it does not matter to me if they bite, though today I worked out how far you can go before they bite you, so far that you can hold them up to your eye, so they are not that aggresive.
Anyway, I am off the point, (I put up with more pain then just bully ant bites) so you can see it takes a lot for me to make me mention something that hurts, so it was odd for me to come out to Mum and say how bad my rib hurts, Mum does not think it is anything, she thought it is was a stich, but it was worse then that. Today it still partly hurt, our church had a lunch, and despite the discomfort I felt in my rib, I had LOADS OF FUN! I scarcly noticed how bad my rib hurt 'till we got home!!!
I LOVE food, but at the same time, I keep fit by chaseing ducks and chooks, cleaning cages, playing, and dancing (I scarce get through a day whithout dancing!). So I eat freely at church lunchs, food is SSOOO much fun!!! Not every girl eats food with such an appitiate that I do, but food is so nice! I love fruit though, I eat bananas like a monkey, they are sweeter then sugar!

Well, I really hope you keep an eye on the road when you are driving!

Have to go now!

Bye!

• Oct. 4, 2008 - Turtle rescue!

After we found the poor blue tongue (about a day or so after) we were driving along (as often is the title when I am about to say we rescued an animal!) and we just turned a corner in a bushy area, and then, crossing the road, was a turtle, Mum once again swerved, I had seen it this time and had no need to ask what it was, before Mum had turned the car off, I was out of the car calling 'get the camera, get the camera' (I will tell you though, in our car, the rule is not to undo your seat belt 'till the car stops, but I was so excited!, my life is never boring) and I picked him up, his rear end facing away, but that does not work all the time! After examining him I decided (when I say 'decided' I mean, a lot of the time, Mum and I have a big debate on what type the animal is, normally, I am normally right!) he was an eastern snake neck turtle, but as we crossed the road, liquid ran down my fingers! eww! he had sprayed me! He did, of course, have every right to do that, he was probably scared half to death, but he was crossing the road, and when we picked him up, a car came by, and that car, or the one that came behind it, would have been the one that would have hit him, so we saved the little turtles life!
I did not wait to smell it, I put him on the other side (where he had been heading) and typically there was a pond on that side, so we released him over there, I then quickly got in the car and rubbed the stuff off with a piece of papery stuff that Macdonalds gives you with ice creams (we have heaps of those!) and because my Mum is a hygiene freak, she carries soap around with her in the car, so it deffinatly came in handy!

BROWN SNAKES / HUNTSMEN SPIDER

The other day, this big Huntsmen spider fell on Mum from the roof! And when I came into the room, he was in strike position and jumping at Mum! his two front feet were in the air and he was showing his teeth (I don't think they are big enough to be called 'fangs') so I got some paper, and slid him onto it in the container, then we took him out the front and released him in tall grass, but as we were over there, a lady who lives accross the road from us, said that we should be careful because earlier they had seen a BROWN SNAKE!!!! THE WORLDS SECOND MOST VENOMOUS SNAKE!!!!! Keep in mind it is the WORLDS second most venomous snake, not just Australias, it happened we were filming at the same time, and so in the background, you can here me going 'COOL!" and Mum sounds more seriose, whilst I am asking what snake, and to know that I live with the worlds SECOND MOST VENOMOUS SNAKE at our door step, I feel honoured! We have to keep our eye out though now, our grass is high, and our lawn mower is broken, so we have to take extra cautions! But in the back of my mind, I am willing this snake to come close, so close, I can see his every scale! But I know that is pretty stupid. But I am more fearless then I should be, though I am sensible. but still............

'till next time!

Animal Girl

(guess what, we not only have baby chooks, but we also have Bantams now! how cool!! And, one is a rooster!)

• Oct. 4, 2008 - Road Kill! Please SLOW DOWN! :(

Last Sunday, we were driving down a long road in a semi country area, but there was high traffic. It was early in the morning, and Mum swerved around something on the road (my Mum never runs over dead animals) and she pulled over and reversed back, I begged to know what it was, but she did not wait to answer, she got out of the car and walked over (I was freaked, hey, on such a busy road, but she picked a time when no cars were driving by) and when I looked, I saw one of my favourite skinks, a Blue Tongue, on the road, I imagined him, waking up on that cold frosty morning thinking just how nice it would be to have a sun bake, and the road was a perfect place, but along came a car and ran the poor guy over, I doubt the car killed him, I'd say he died a few minuets after the car hit him. Mum picked him up off the road, she thought there was still a spark of life in him, but it turned out he was dead :( Y'see if he had have just been left there, a bird might have come down and eaten him, but then he would get hit too, so it is good to move them off the road, plus, people don't like the ldea of coming home with a dead animal atached to their tyre.

So please watch out when you are on the road, espicialy if it is spirng or early morning (in Australia it is spring here at the moment). And if you are unlucky  enough to hit something, please remove the carcass off the road.

A bit about me, Animal Girl!

G'day everybody! I am an Aussie girl known as 'A.G'. I am 11 years old. I have had many other blogs and some web-sites, and I am doing my own wildlife show! I am 'animal crazy' and so that is why my nick name is Animal Girl (A.G). I have one dog (possibly two in the future) two cats, 4 guinea pigs, five chooks (possibly more in the future) two ducks, and we have cows that live next door and behind us! I hope that in the future all wild animals, native and foreign, will have a secure future, and that we will NEVER have to say bye to the dear beauties of the ocean, Whales. A.G
