Our last home improvement project gets completed tomorrow - the new countertop is being installed. This is the only planned project for this summer. {Oh wait, the laptop purchase (technically NOT a home improvement project) was also planned.} The washer/dryer and septic system updates were unplanned. I am not even that excited now. Now don't get me wrong. I am glad that my kitchen is slowly leaving the 1960s. I am glad that I won't have to have a big red bucket under the sink due to extreme leaking. You should see this sink. Oh my. It should be in a museum. Anyways, Jeff and I are numb to writing checks. We just smile weakly and sign our names. In order to save some money, Jeff is going to take out the old counter himself and put in the new sink tomorrow after the experts put in the countertop. Believe me, this could go either way. Jeff could figure it all out quickly or be at the job for a couple of days. I will be taking the boys out for breakfast and try to spend the day far away...You understand? Don't you?
On a happier note, I am placing orders for some last minute school supplies. I am using welltrainedmind.com to find used items. I purchased some math cd roms. I was in contact with one homeschool mom who was going to sell me one of the cds I needed. As we were emailing each other, I discovered that she lives in my town! How wild is that? So she stopped by today and we conducted our business in person. I am still looking for Franklin the turtle Goes to School. I have read some raving reviews on this program and I think my 5 yr old would like it. Anybody want to sell their copy? :)
Oh how funny. My husband just walked in and said that he just talked to our handy man neighbor about the kitchen. Jeff told him he'd give him $50 to do the plumbing if things don't go well within the first hour. This is a huge step for my "I can figure it out" husband. It is also waaaay cheaper than having the c.top guys put in the sink.
Now for your challenge: Move your oven. Yes, you will be shocked what a nasty little collection of legos, Gi Joes, K'Nex, plastic beads, uncooked noodles, and dirt you have there. There are also numerous unidentified objects lurking beneath. As I was moving the range today, my 7 yr old was watching. OH YUCK!! was his comment. I asked him to help me clean it up and he suddenly remembered a very important thing he had to do somewhere else. Now if I can work up my nerve and move the frig...nah. |
