me and my guys

• Jul. 31, 2007 - This blog contains a challenge...good luck!

Our last home improvement project gets completed tomorrow - the new countertop is being installed.  This is the only planned project for this summer. {Oh wait, the laptop purchase (technically NOT a home improvement project) was also planned.} The washer/dryer and septic system updates were unplanned.  I am not even that excited now.  Now don't get me wrong.  I am glad that my kitchen is slowly leaving  the 1960s.  I am glad that I won't have to have a big red bucket under the sink due to extreme leaking.  You should see this sink.  Oh my.  It should be in a museum.  Anyways, Jeff and I are numb to writing checks.  We just smile weakly and sign our names.  In order to save some money, Jeff is going to take out the old counter himself and put in the new sink tomorrow after the experts put in the countertop.  Believe me, this could go either way.  Jeff could figure it all out quickly or be at the job for a couple of days.  I will be taking the boys out for breakfast and try to spend the day far away...You understand?  Don't you?

On a happier note, I am placing orders for some last minute school supplies.  I am using welltrainedmind.com to find used items.  I purchased some math cd roms.  I was in contact with one homeschool mom who was going to sell me one of the cds I needed.  As we were emailing each other, I discovered that she lives in my town!  How wild is that?  So she stopped by today and we conducted our business in person.   I am still looking for Franklin the turtle Goes to School.  I have read some raving reviews on this program and I think my 5 yr old would like it.  Anybody want to sell their copy? :)

Oh how funny.  My husband just walked in and said that he just talked to our handy man neighbor about the kitchen.  Jeff told him he'd give him $50 to do the plumbing if things don't go well within the first hour.  This is a huge step for my "I can figure it out" husband.  It is also waaaay cheaper than having the c.top guys put in the sink.

Now for your challenge:  Move your oven.  Yes, you will be shocked what a nasty little collection of legos, Gi Joes, K'Nex, plastic beads, uncooked noodles, and dirt you have there.  There are also numerous unidentified objects lurking beneath.  As I was moving the range today, my 7 yr old was watching.  OH YUCK!! was his comment.  I asked him to help me clean it up and he suddenly remembered a very important thing he had to do somewhere else.  Now if I can work up my nerve and move the frig...nah.

We just replaced our stove last year, so I know what you mean by the collection underneath there. :)
I'm glad you are getting a new sink. How nice. I hope things go well with hubby's work.

I'm not in any way up for this challenge. GET REAL LADY, IT'S SUMMER VACATION. Besides, I just pull the broiler drawer out occasionally to clean under the oven. I learned this from a lady at church. The fridge hasn't been moved in.....let's see.....Ewww, 2-3 years. Gross, I'd rather be left with not knowing what treasures are hidden under there!

Blessings,
Lori (I'm fine, really I am!) ;o)

I just totally moved ALL of my appliances today to paint behind them. Again in surround sound - OH. MY. GOODNESS. I thought I had cleaned up the fridge area b/c Rodger spilled out about 24 eggs this past winter. Wrong. There was still a small lingering spot. When all was said and done, it was not to bad b/c if there was no mouse p**p - we were doing great! I can not believe Jeff actually offered someone money to help if things did not go well. Miracles do still happen. Rodger also told me that he spilled the contents of his truck on Lex-Spingmill and Marion. All I said to Rodger was, "Honey, he a teacher." Not an engineer. BTW, we are closing on our house tomorrow at 3:30. We are getting the big check. I am sooooo wayyyyy excited! We will be free of the monkey! Then I'm gonna go shopping. For the orphans in Cambodia. hello, did you think any of it was for me? No. Just others. Seriously though, there is a desire to honor God with what we are getting and we are praying for wisdom in where to put some of it. Perhaps a sinking hole. You know anyone with a sinking hole around here? See ya later, Tammy
