The stitches have been removed from my son's face. He is starting to look like his old self. The doc who removed the stitches was shaking so bad that I had half a mind to intercede and do the removal myself. Maybe she was nervous around me? They didn't make me pay for yesterday's visit because of last week's mishap. This made me feel a lot better. I have already told you that my son is collecting hospital bracelets. Well, the doc wrapped up his little stitches and let him keep them - yuck! He was in tears last night because he could find them. I comforted the poor child. Of course on the inside I was thinking "who wants to save stitches?". Anyways, you can imagine his joy that I found the missing baggie containing his treasure this morning. If I had time to figure out how to put pics on this blog (I know, I know, I keep saying this) I would share the joy with all of you.
Tonight our neighbor boy is sleeping over with us. His dad drives a fire truck for the Nat'l Guard at our local airport/unit. They have invited my oldest to ride in the truck tomorrow during a local parade - The Blueberry Festival, I am sure that you have heard of it. Are you impressed that I stuck a smiley face in this little post? I told you that I would get more adventurous... So now I sit here typing when I should be planning dinner. Pizza is sounding kind of easy tonight. |

Yeah, what is it with stitches anyway?
I have a stitches story. My son had to go to the emergency room for a big gash he got by falling on playground equipment. The ER doctor did a terrible job on my son's face and my son was totally traumatized, not by the stitching but by being held down. So the next time he threw himself off of a rocking chair and straight into the corner of the coffee table, I decided to fix him up at home. We could see right down to the cheek bone, but straight away, I aligned everything and stuck it back together with a special bandaid. Now, 4 years later, there is no scar unless you go looking for it. Stitches that aren't done properly are bad news. Removing them is fun though, I love doing that :-D
