PIES

He really liked it.  As I reported yesterday, I made my first from-scratch pie on Saturday.  I was a little nervous because Jeff is kind when he doesn't care for some food I've made, but he also doesn't lie and say he likes it.  As a new bride, I use to get quite emotional when he would just move the food around on his plate and try dousing it with various spices and sauces.  Now I just watch very closely to see if a recipe is a keeper or not.  Anyways, I was excited that he liked my pie.

LATIN

On the school front, things continue to roll along.  We had a super crafty day today.  I did not plan this, but the boys just sort of started on various projects.  I had to dump my plans because theirs were way more fun and interesting.  My second son started Latin today.  There was no way that I was even going to attempt this during soccer season.  I have to be honest and tell you that I really don't enjoy teaching Latin.  In fact, it is the subject that is always dropped when somethng better comes along...which happens a great deal.

IRRATIONAL FEAR

Oh yes, I was going to let you know why I didn't sleep great last night.  It all started at church.  We visited a church to hear an Iranian who is converted from Islam.  He was very straight forward about Islam's intent to take over our country.  He told about some really horrible things currently happening.  Forgetting whose child I am (a child of the King)  I woke up feeling frightened.  After reading the Bible and listening to worship music, I recovered.  I just revealed to the world that I am a weak-kneed female.  Can you all live with this knowledge?

Have a great day.

Live with what? The knowledge that you are a "weak-kneed female" or that it is Islam's intent to take over? I am not afraid.

Hey, congrats on the pie. I've made a pie. Once. I felt like I could take on Martha Stewart! (:

I was born in Iran and grew up mostly in the Middle East with a scarf on my head (I am not Muslim (except that I try to surrender my life to God), but wearing the scarf at that time indicated purity and modesty, not necessarily being a Muslim). I don't think anyone over here has any idea about the seriousness of militant Islamists to take over the world, or at least to keep on destroying things. Our civilians' peaceable posture and division is perceived as weakness, and it gives them strength and resolve. On the other hand, there is a huge thriving church in Iran and it really exploded when Khomeini came to power (the militant Islamists. Quite a few Iranian pastors have been martyred or disappeared, but there are younger believers and their wives standing up saying, "We will fill in the gap." Iranians are coming to Christ. It's very exciting! We are in God's hands, completely--He will do nothing that is not for His glory and for our good. Brother Yun (probably one of the most persecuted Christians in our time) said that he felt sorry for the West because we do not live with the presence of God. There is also a thriving, growing church in the Kurdish part of Iraq the last I heard (since the war). I don't know about the rest of the country.

Warmly,
Lori

Congrats on the pie! I'm not surprised at all to hear about Islam's plans to take over our country. We know a few soldiers who have returned from Irac. Although the media portrays our going to war as a mistake and that there isn't progress being made, that couldn't be farther from the truth. Our men are very much needed over there. I've never heard one soldier that has come back from Irac say that our going to war was a mistake. They have even made comments that they would gladly return!

Blessings,
Lori

First off, who doesn't like pie? Oh wait..my husband didn't. Not just my pie, but any pie, or anything else for that matter. Can you believe some people only eat to stay alive? Yeah, me either. Be happy you have a man that enjoys food. If you didn't, it could be a big hit to your woman ego. I finally gave up and accepted that it would never change. At least everyone else liked what I cooked!

We had The Three Terrorist come and visit our church last month. They are men who converted from Islam to Christianity. Awesome testimony, but WOW! An eye opener!!! Unfortunately, I would rather not really know what is going on in the world - isn't that horrible! I do watch television and pray a lot...

I'm so glad He told us not to fear because He will be with us unto the end. I am surrounded by Islam, I hear the call for my death and destruction five times per day. It is not irrational to fear but it is wonderful that we are assured that Perfect Love casts out all fear. Blessings to you.
