me and my guys

• Nov. 20, 2007 - warning: a very whiny post

The stomach flu is making its way through my family.  Jeff had it late last week and last night two of the boys came down with this delightful illness.  We have had to put our Thanksgiving plans on hold until we see if we are healthy enough to travel the 6 hours to my brother's home.  Even today's plans got all messed up.  We were all going to go with Jeff to deliver his final copy of the dissertation to the university and then we were going to go to a nearby mall that we enjoy visiting.  Today is my 8 year old's birthday and we were planning on doing something special for him while there.  Instead, Jeff took the two healthy children on the trip (about an hour away) while I stay here with the sickies.  They are currently sleeping and the house is way too quiet for me.  Even the dogs and the guinea pigs are sleeping.  So please leave me a comment so that I can connect with the outside world.  Tell me that this flu will be gone by Thurs and we can make our trip.  Please.  I am desperate for some good news.   I need hope.

Waa waa waa.  Don't you hate hearing all of this whining?

I'm so sorry everyone is sick. I do hope that your Thanksgiving works the way you want. But if it doesn't, make memories from what you have. One year, I had the stomach flu on Christmas day. Paul had to make the whole meal, I couldn't even have the door open, the smell made it worse. But we look back on that holiday fondly. Paul kept calling his mom for 'how to's' on cooking a turkey, and he took great care of me. Then 4 years ago, the first Christmas we spent here in Idaho, Paul had the stomach flu on Christmas day. He had a reprieve enough for all of us to sit on the bed and open our gifts together, precious memories. Then two days later, which is his birthday, me and the kids had the stomach flu. So what did he get to do for his birthday? Take care of us, of course. ;) All this rambling to say, no it's not fun being sick, especially the stomach flu, and most definitely not during the holidays. But I will admit I have looked back fondly on those 'sickie' holidays with sweet memories. Not that I would want it for all the holidays, but even if you can't do what you planned, I'm sure you'll have a great time with what you do. I pray you all feel better soon. :)

OH. MY. GOODNESS. I can't believe it is traveling through your house. We will do a drive by tomorrow to drop off goodies for the boys, but we will use the 29 and a half foot pole to get it to the house. Hopefully we will not get it, but if we do, oh well. I hope you all get to go visit your brother and have a really good Thanksgiving day/trip. By the way, we picked out a Christmas gift for your family. It was Josh's choice b/c he thought you would really like it. It is coming out of the Mindware catalog! YEA!!!!! See ya later, tammy

Hi Anissa!

I made it back sooner than I thought. I hate hearing you all have been sick with the flu. I hope you are all well now. You have my prayers!

Blessings,
Lori
