• Dec. 19, 2007 - All the mess, I mean joy of the season

Yesterday was cookie making day.  We started before lunch and were still icing cookies after dinner.

While you can see the mess on top of the countertops, you will only be able to imagine the mess on the floor.  There was cookie dough, crumbs, a dog toy, legos, and shirts that were flung off.  By the way, do you think my youngest has a future career as a plumber?  Look at those Hanes.  You will also have to imagine the noise.  Have you ever sat back and watched your children making a big mess and thought "Oh man, this is going to cause me A LOT of extra work to clean up."  BUT, you also see them having such a great time that you decide to not interfer?

I have one more picture to share.  This is a very familiar sight of my husband in the winter.  His head is stuck in our woodburners a great majority of the time.  I like to be warm, and so does our 13 year old dog.

I hope everyone is staying warm and well sugared-up this Christmas season.

Oh my goodness - I am the first commentor! Yea for cookie making! Boo for the mess. And yes I know your pain in thinking ahead of the mess that is to be cleaned up. Lisa was over yesterday with Sarah and, OHHH the mess. It still lurks in my home today. Dishes, toys, clothes. It is ugly. I am glad you are warm at home. We did go skiing last night. Wow! I think I am going to like it but I thought I was going to kill myself last night going down the . . . bunny hill. There are two bunny hills. The first is the very beginner bunny hill. Level one. That was me. The other one has a ski lift. I did not attempt that one yet. Gotta work my nerve up for that one. If I am anything, I am cautious. have a really great day. Tammy

I have those thoughts all the time about kids and mess. It's cool that you let the kids make the mess, and it was great pictures. Thanks for sharing it with us. :)

I have a simular post on today's blog. Fun stuff! Your hubby in the oven looks like 100% my brother! Seriously - I'd love to see a front view... they look like twins!

Hope your having a great Christmas season! I'm finding it hard to get around and say hello to all my friends. Please forgive me if I don't say hello every day - I do stop and read though. Have a great weekend!

I can't believe it! I see pictures! Yay! And I wouldn't worry about your youngest, he doesn't appear to be named Phil McCracken yet! Ooops! Can I say that on Homeschoolblogger, hehe!

Congrats to your hubby on his PHD. Pretty impressive I'll say.

Blessings,
Hallie

I am so grateful for my little canine helpers that are so eager to clean up floor messes. Your photos are lovely, your boys really did enjoy that it is evident! I think that if the mess is 'contained' (like only in one room) it is worth it!

Have a wonderful weekend with your family!!

Oooooo, while I've been away you've learned to add pictures. Cool! Congratulations Mr. Dr. Glad to hear you all had a wonderful Christmas. Man, I didn't realize that you were in a house full of testosterone. I think you need a lot more prayer. LOL. Thanks for being so faithful to visiting my blog. I need to try and figure out how to fit it back into my busy schedule. It's really hard! I really miss it though. Hope you have a great week, and a Happy New Year!

Blessings,
Lori
