Keeping Christ in Christmas

Posted in Religious
This year my family and I have decided to do the Jesse Tree project for Christmas.  Somewhere along the line, people seemed to have forgotten that without Jesus, there would be NO Christmas!  Hence, our determination to focus our kids on the true meaning.  It involves a devotional for each day leading up to Christmas, reminding us of the prophecy from the Old Testament that Christ would come.

This is my Jesse Tree. There are other methods for doing this but I chose this one given the time I had.

The good thing about this method is that it's simple enough that my kids can help with the ornaments.

These are some of the ornaments. They correspond to the devotionals.

I let the children take turns placing the ornaments on the tree after hubby and I finish the readings.
Abigail, rejoicing in placing her ornament.

Let's be mindful this season of the reason and not allow the media or any other thing or person influence us to focus on the material things that wont last.  When we do celebrate we can do so not because of presents we receive but that we received the GREATEST GIFT the world could ever receive, that is Jesus Christ.  Remember keep Christ in CHRISTmas!!!

Great job on the tree and looks like your kiddos are having a blast with the ornaments. Yes, I agree, the focus of Christmas should be Christ. I hate what society has made this special day into, at least in our homes we can honor the King of kings and Lord of lords while materialism is being honored elsewhere. I hope you and yours have a blessed Christmas in Him.

So cute! Great post. :) Adorable family.

To answer your question...The filling is cinnamon, sugar, cardamom, raisins, and butter. I'll try to post the recipe soon. I have another Swedish recipe already on a blog post. Just put the word "pepparkakor" in the search engine on the top left of the page to find it if you are interested in other Christmas yummies. :)

Thanks for stopping by.

Your little ones are SO cute---those smiles are something else. I remember when my 2 oldest were that age....we had SUCH fun doing all those things. Treasure it, girl! You will NOT believe how FAST it goes by . . .

Oh, please tell me how you get that very cute background to surround your entry post titles....

Thank you for posting pictures of your Jesse tree. Its really beautiful and I love your thoughts on it. We are doing one as well. We are making and hanging ornaments on our Christmas tree. We talk about it and then one child gets to hang it on the tree. This is our first Advent season to do this and I really love learning about how others have done and/or are doing it.
