The Broward School Board is considering whether to fire a Fort Lauderdale elementary teacher who admitted hitting students.
When special-education teacher Arlene Johnson needed to control her students, she would hit them with a belt or a ruler and ''jack them up'' by shaking them or grabbing them by the shirt, she told Broward school district investigators.
The students, second-graders at Sunland Park Elementary in Fort Lauderdale, told their parents last April that Johnson was hitting them.
Now the district's acting chief is moving to have her fired.
