Nov. 16, 2006 - Considering the Earwig

I saw an earwig today.

It was just sitting in the corner doing nothing. Alive, but doing nothing.

As I looked at it I thought, "surely there is some life lesson or bit of wisdom I could glean by considering this earwig".

There is for the ant. Everyone knows about the ant. Well known for it's industrious nature, it's a real team player - occasionally carrying babies off from picnics. The ant gets some airplay in the Bible: "Go to the ant, O sluggard..." (Prov. 6:6), among others. There's a lesson there... I get that. Not to mention that 'sluggard' is a great word.

But look 'earwig' up in your concordance... nothing.

Let me consider this creature for a moment... there's got to be something about it.

Nope.

Did I mention that my thoughts may be random?
