Oct. 7, 2005 - English Essay
Okies, so I had to write an English essay a while back. For all who don't know, I'm going to an actual school now. We just finished reading Treasure Island, so we had to create a pirate and type up their story, so here's mine; I got a 100% and an Excellent!
Bane: Poison; Woe, Harm; a perfect name for such a tyrannous pirate. But, she wasn’t always this horrible, in fact, she once was quite agreeable. We must go back a ways to truly understand the cause of her agony.
A few years ago, when she was just a cabin-pup, Bane went aboard the S.S. Purina, seeking adventure, with her father, First Mate Biggs. One stormy night, a gig was suddenly dismantled by a strike of lightning. Bravely, her father paddled out, grabbed the rope in his mouth, and started to swim back. Alas, he never did again return to his ship. Halfway back, three large fins appeared just above the surface of the water, behind Biggs. This could only mean one thing: catfish. Not just any catfish, but the dreaded, spiny-backed, Pacific Catfish. Before anyone could utter a warning, the apparent leader of the group had up and swallowed the First-Mate.
This would be enough, I believe, to make anyone detest catfish, but to make matters worse, the three then hopped aboard the vessel, and engaged the pirates in battle. One particular fish seemed out to get Bane. He flopped in front of her, leaving her no way of escape. Then, in the blink of an eye, he had cut a scar in her ear with his whiskers, tearing her earring out. This made her extremely angry. She drew out her cutlass to strike, but by the time she looked back up from her side, all three felonious fish had disappeared into the night. Now, to constantly remind her of the villainy of the fish, she tapes the earring onto her ear, as there is such a tremendous amount of scar tissue, not much more can be done.
Currently, she roams the seven seas, hunting catfish, determined to rid the earth of them. When she is not pursuing the detestable fish, she feasts on Alpo mixed with green beans. So far, she has not been too successful in her mission, but I have no doubt that she will, indeed, free us of catfish, once and for all.
