Yea...it's going!
| Well things are going much smoother as we work our way through this fisrt week. I am so impressed with Tapestry and the way in which the different assignments and subjects overlap! At times there is a bit of confusion on my part as to which subject we are studying but I really am pushed to lay all those old ways of doing things aside and just teach! Ryan calls me "The Rookie" and teases me a bit too. I appreciate his sense of humor! He is doing so well and working so very hard. I am amazed at the effort he can put forth even when he is tackling a task which he dislikes. Although he has completed seven years in the public school system, I am finding that he is missing some very fundamental building blocks of which he should have had a great understanding in long ago. He lacks the ability to form all of his letters when writing cursive. His printing was so terrible that I had him try cursive today and found he has beautiful handwritting! He did have to go online and print out a chart showing him how to form the upper and lower case letters. This is just appauling to me! I have always relied on the teachers and report cards to tell me how he was doing and...well, they were lying to me all along! I am thankful to God for the opportunity to teach my son myself, and that we live in a country where we have the freedom to do so with our own convictions! |
