• Sep. 25, 2008 - Knifty Knitter
I went to walmart yesterday and I picked up a Knifty knitter.
I don't know if you have seen these, but they are awesome!! I really didn't expect them to be as easy as it says but it really is. I sat down last night and read the instruction and went right to "knitting." It was so simple that I knitted both the girls hats for their dolls(for practice) and could not wait to share it with the girls(8y/o and 6y/o). Today, while Ben was napping, I showed the girls how to do it and they took right to it. Becca is knitting a hat for herself so she is still working on hers. Bella did a baby doll hat already today and has started her 2nd project. They are sooo excited and are making plans for what they are going to make people for Christmas and to donate. Bella said "I feel like such a big girl." Anyways, here is Bellas hat she made today, I will post Beccas when she gets done. If you want an easy and fun handicraft for you and your kids I highly recommend this.

• Aug. 23, 2008 - Water painting!
THis kind of water painting is mess free and on a hot day getting wet is half the fun!!!
There is so much teaching you can do with this. Kids can learn a lot about evaporation. It doesn't take long for them to learn that in the shade their art lasts longer, and that it will evaporate faster in the sun. You can do a whole lesson just on that, but we were just having fun that day so we left it at that.
While we were outside Becca found a cricket.
