Jan. 25, 2010 - Why Not Dating?

“A woman’s heart should be so close to God that a man must seek God to find her’s.”

I love this post by Priceless Purity!  I needed it, as well.   :)  Please Read!  It is fantastic!  I am linking to it so you can further explore their great site once you glance at this article on saving your heart!

I fall under the Courtship/Dating catagory.  I do date, but with careful prayer and with much talking with my parents !   The typical definition is not the one I use.  My parents can help me and lead me by keeping me accountable.  It is a conservative form of dating.

Jan. 20, 2010 - Psalm 19

I love Psalms 19, it has been a favorite of mine for as long as I can remember.  I started memorizing it last year and my goal is to complete it this year.  Hopefully before then, like in a month or so.

Some of the prettiest sunrises come up in my window!  I love getting up early and watching the sun rise!  The other day I caught one on my camera that was beautiful!  I will have to share it soon.

Blessings,

Joy

p.s.  As school has started I will probably post less often, but a weekly check should keep you fresh on the latest news.  ;)

1  The heavens declare the glory of God;

and the firmament showeth his handiwork.
2  Day unto day uttereth speech,

and night unto night showeth knowledge.
3  There is no speech nor language,

where their voice is not heard.
4  Their line is gone out through all the earth,

and their words to the end of the world.
In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,
5  which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,

and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.
6  His going forth is from the end of the heaven,

and his circuit unto the ends of it:
and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.
7  The law of the LORD is perfect,

converting the soul:
the testimony of the LORD is sure,
making wise the simple.
8  The statutes of the LORD are right,

rejoicing the heart:
the commandment of the LORD is pure,
enlightening the eyes.
9  The fear of the LORD is clean,

enduring for ever:
the judgments of the LORD are true
and righteous altogether.
10  More to be desired are they than gold,

yea, than much fine gold:
sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11  Moreover by them is thy servant warned:

and in keeping of them there is great reward.
12  Who can understand his errors?

Cleanse thou me from secret faults.
13  Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins;

let them not have dominion over me:
then shall I be upright,
and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.
14  Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart,

be acceptable in thy sight,
O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

Jan. 9, 2010 - Edible Gifts and Ministry

Sometimes I wonder as a girl who isn't involved in any large ministries or campaigns, what can I do?

It may sound very simple, but it has impacted my life.  At my Church we have many wonderful elders!  I have come to love them all!  In days past I knew that listening to your elders and building friendships with seniors was a great idea, but when you don't really know them it can be kind of ackward.

So I decided to make homemade goodies for certain widows when I could.  Let me tell you, they loved it!  Place with it a little card that says you were thinking of them and you are praying for them, and you have an instant friend!  I now love my friends at Church who are in their 80's!!!  Some I write throughout the week.  They enjoy laughing with me, are eager to give hugs, give me birthday gifts, and the best thing I have found is the wisdom and advice they so lovingly spread through their conversation.  This has been so benifical for me through the past few years!

I encourage you to find an elder in your Church, an elderly woman if you a girl and try to brighten their day!  Even if you just do it once it will be a blessing!

Jan. 9, 2010 - Homemade Purse Bag

Here is a creative idea!  Instead of throwing away jean skirts or pants that are worn out, have holes, etc, make cute purse bags out of the pockets!  It can be used for ipods, phones, and the little things that get lost in the bottom of a purse!

I simply cut out the pocket flap and a square of the good fabric, porportional to the wallet size I wanted.  I lined the jean fabric with a calico, and stitched a design on the front side of the bag.

Here are some photos, I wish I had a finished product photo but I gifted this purse bag and didn't get a photo before hand!  But this can give you some design ideas!  It is very easy and can be done in an hour or less!

Jan. 9, 2010 - Weather Outside is Frosty

It has become my tradition to take some frost pictures every year.  The patterns that can form are just so intriguing to me, I love them!  Frosty clouds covered my truck windows this year.  (:  Very interesting!

Jan. 7, 2010 - Romans 12:1-2

Thoughts from the morning's Bible reading time....

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Jan. 2, 2010 - Lists to Live By

     It Is Possible

        *  It is possible to cast all our care upon Him daily and to enjoy deep peace in doing it.

       *  It is possible to have the thoughts and imaginations of our hearts purified, in the deepest meanings of the word.

       *  It is possible to see the will of God in everything and to recieve it, not with sighing but with singing.

       *  It is possible by taking complete refuge in divine power to become strong through and through.

Dec. 30, 2009 - Vacation To Branson

This year we decided to do a big family vacation out of town for the holidays. Our family celebrates the birth of Christ, without any of the traditional pagan roots.  We do exchange gifts and attend family gatherings during this time.  So before heading up to Branson we stopped by my dad's family gathering and enjoyed a great meal and time of sweet memories!

My family and our grandparents loaded into two vehicles and traveled to Branson, MO in one afternoon!  We stayed at Mount Vista Resorts which was a lovely out-of-town spot, that was quiet and peaceful.  (The chickens and Misty stayed home under the best of care, yet were happy to see us return!)

While there, we were excited to meet a homeschooling family with three boys.  The youngest is 18 and has just graduated, so they are kinda like us in that we are all just out of the homeschooling realm.

There are many fun things to do in Branson!  One thing that my grandpa especially enjoys is browsing antique flea markets and booths.  I usually go along and enjoy the stories that he tells so well.  "I owned that car in '56, and it was the hottest thing out!"  or  "Let me tell you what this does..."  and "Do you know what this is called..'' etc.  :)

Here are some pictures for you to enjoy!

   Downtown Branson

Cute artwork in the shop windows!

     Aw!  Cowboy snowman!

   Our resort entrance

      Beautiful winter morning walk!

The are no flowers to take pictures of so....

  Stream rolling beside the walkway.

          More reflections!

Twas only manufactured for one year.

Thinking of Maudie, Claudie, and Dorothy!

    Shopping the Antique Mall

Our little snow, about 2 inches.  :)

Mother set a lovely table every evening!

Every evening dad gave devotions and we sang hymns.

        Family dinner table...

Mother is really a wonderful decorator!

We opened a few gifts every evening, instead of one big gift time.  It was fun and left suspense for each night.  This was my first night to open gifts and I just loved all the girly things!  By the way, I am reading Set-Apart Feminity and I highly recomend it!  Such a great read for young ladies of all ages!

Colorful little shuttle we rode in!

Dec. 28, 2009 - Gift Box ~ How To

This December we exchanged gifts out of town in Branson, MO!  It was a wonderful trip with beautuful weather and snow on the 25th!  Finding a simple way to travel with gift bags and wrapped presents isn't easy, but mother came up with a wonderful idea!

She had dad bring large cardboard boxes with lids home from work.  Personalized a box for each family member, and wrapped gifts with tissue paper and put all the gifts for one person in a box.  Here is an example of my brother's box.

~

    Before the wrapping paper.

   Covering the sides.

    Box is wrapped!

    Wrapping the lid.

   Making clean edges!

     Fold on lid.

Topped off with homemade bow !  She is great ! ;)

  Road Ready!
